Before the massage started, the therapist suggested I switch to a combination massage because she said I was very tense. I initially declined, but trusted her recommendation and agreed. One of the reasons I normally avoid combination massages is because I don't like therapists standing on my back. During the massage, she put her full weight on my lower back. It was so painful that I immediately told her it hurt and asked her to be gentler. While the rest of the massage was okay, I was already in pain and couldn't relax. I came in to unwind--not because I had any back pain or injury. On my way home, my lower back was throbbing. The next morning, I could barely get out of bed. I still went to work, but the pain was severe. It's now been about two weeks, and my lower back is still hurting. I've had many massages over the years and have never experienced anything like this. I was also concerned about the cleanliness. They no longer use the disposable face cradle covers they used to provide, and the I had my face on had an unpleasant odor. I can't say whether the linens were changed, but based on what I experienced, I left feeling uncomfortable about the cleanliness. Overall, this was not a relaxing experience.
