That killed it for me to buy more than one. After checking out Yelp photos and the online menu first upon arrival, I settled on the "New York Style" hot dog with small fry (3.50) and no drink. It came out to $15. It took a little while to get my order. I was there ordering with the cashier before some guy came after to order by kiosk which got his order first. My hotdog was loaded and tasted amazing. After finishing, I wish I had another because I wasn't full even after the fries. But I could never pay $20 for 2 hotdogs. Shop was clean and cute inside. Cashier was nice. A fairly new resident recommended the chicken bowl next time. The only other location is on the Natick Mall. They would be more busy if they come down $3-$4. Hope they aren't wasting their toppings with these prices.

I had the chicken bowl it was a somewhat small serving of chicken. I moved it from the bowl to cut it up. I ended up eating just the chicken, sour cream and beans. I asked for less rice but the bowl is mostly rice so I don't think they accommodated that request. Corn was dry. Lettuce is iceberg and minimal. If you like rice this would be a good choice.

For the record: under the ADA (and Massachusetts law, which follows it), a business can ask exactly two questions -- is this a service animal required due to a disability, and what task is it trained to perform. That's it. No vest, no ID card, no paperwork required, full stop. I said as much, was met with attitude, stepped out to keep the peace, came back in with documentation anyway (which I didn't legally owe him), and got a passive-aggressive "well you could've shown me that at the beginning" -- followed by a genuinely bizarre stare-down over the counter. Charming. Then, while waiting on my order, I made the mistake of taking a video of the (admittedly cute) interior -- 100-year-old diner car, hard not to want a keepsake -- and got yelled at for filming, with a pointed accusation that my brother outside was "also filming," said like it was a crime. Meanwhile this place has an active social media presence built on customers doing exactly that. You can't crowdsource your Instagram content and then treat a phone camera like a weapon. Oh, and the hot dog itself: $5 for a boiled dog on white bread, no toasting, no char, nothing. A sad little snack to cap off a genuinely unpleasant interaction. The building has real history. The guy behind the counter does not deserve it.

Known locally as "The Chat," it's tucked away in a neighborhood overlooking Dudley Pond, in what began life as a private fishing lodge nearly a century ago before becoming a speakeasy and eventually the local institution it is today. It definitely shows its age--and I mean that affectionately. (The Dudley Chateau) The building is well worn, it gets packed, it can be loud, and yes, the restrooms have seen better days. None of that has stopped us from coming back several times a year. Why? Because the food is consistently excellent, and so is the service. The menu goes well beyond what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub, and we've yet to leave disappointed. The staff somehow manages to stay friendly, attentive, and efficient even when the place is buzzing. The Dudley Chateau isn't trying to be trendy or upscale, and that's part of its charm. It's comfortable in its own skin, and so are the people who keep coming back. If you're looking for spotless, quiet, and polished, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuine local institution with plenty of character, it's absolutely worth the visit.

Menu is super basic, takes a long time to find anything to eat here. Settled on an iced tea, fish sandwich, and side salad. Iced tea was solid, fish sandwich was good, but the bun was lacking. Salad was low brow, but tasty enough, homemade blue cheese dressing, not offensive. The place could use a cleaning, and some feminine energy, and the menu needs a lot of help, if we are going to move away from seed oils. No need to rush back. But if I do come back, I will probably have dessert only, which looked decent.

All the patrons in the place were happy and the crew was meeting customers with smiles and efficiency. As I waited in line I could see that a young teen in front of me who was ordering his lunch was coming up a bit short with the money needed to pay for the food he planned to get. He had a ziplock full of change that he had brought to buy his lunch. Before I could step in to offer to cover the difference he needed the man up front who I assumed was the manager calmly and without pause or judgement said that it was ok and that he would take care of things for the boy and that things were all set. The young woman at the register also was helpful and kind to the teen. I thought their demeanor and kindness was great and it made my day. As I left I stopped to speak to him to praise them for being such good people and for the great customer service. I went to hand him a big tip for the two of them since I was so warmed by their humanity and helpfulness but I was met with a very humble no, no, no and I saw that he was very pleased though that I spoke up to give them praise. So off I went to eat my lunch the fries were...Great... the fish sandwich was ... Great.. He paid $37 for one burger and fries. I realized when he got to me, and called and spoke to the "Manager" Adam who looked up his order and he said we could drive back and get the refund. Um- sure. It's only a 75 mile EACH WAY to get $20?? Are you serious?! That is considered customer service? There's nothing else you can do? I've been in retail and restaurant management most of my career, and trust me when I say there's more that you can do instead of making the customer drive 150 miles with gas prices being as high as they are, to fix YOUR mistake. I did call a different location and spoke to their manager, she didn't seem surprised, and I am waiting for the district manager to call me back. It's been over a day, but I have patience. If not, we are going to submit this to his bank, on Monday, because it is fraud. So no, I don't recommend this place.

I threw away 3/4 of the $12 burger. If I can't eat something, you know it's bad. On the plus side, the shake was good. But I had a little moo version which is a small and a fraction of the size of a shake at 5 guys for the same price. There's not a single thing that would bring me back here. I honestly wanted to love it. I walked in thinking I could get an awesome smash type burger but overall I would never go back. I'll stick with the other burger options.
