Summertime is hotdog season in my book. And I recently had the best hotdog I've ever had, courtesy…read moreof Trolley Dogs. One of their food trucks was at the Framingham Farmers Market this past Thursday. There was a wide variety of food available that evening, but for some reason, the Trolley Dogs food truck called out to me. As their signs say, they serve giant, handmade dogs. They're so big they have to use a mini sub roll, instead of a hotdog bun. You can order your dog as you like, or select from their menu of pre-planned dogs. I forget what it was called, but I ordered from the menu. My dog was topped with onion, relish, and hot mustard. It was super hot and humid on this day and I felt bad for the food truck workers. It must've been like an oven in there. The dog was so awesome I made my way back to the food truck afterwards to tell them so. If you enjoy an occasional hotdog like me, and you happen to see one of the Trolley Dogs food trucks somewhere, you should check it out! I promise, you'll be glad you did. P. S. I did not have one myself, but one of my companions had one of their craft lemonades. He raved about that Trolley Dogs offering as well.

This company should be ashamed of themselves and people should take notice of their shady business…read morepractices! My family and I booked the Kona Ice truck for my father's celebration of life party on June 22nd back in beginning of March. Thinking everything was all set...NOPE... what do they do contact my sister and ask her if they can bring their coffee and lemonade truck along, making us pay for it. My sister says no since it's at a venue with coffee, beer, soda and juice. A little later she gets a email back canceling cause they are over booked. All because we wouldn't rent their coffee and lemonade truck. Now leaving us a month to try and find another ice cream or shaved ice truck! No one should use this company ever! Shady a$$ business!!!

Alright, so I had this in Framingham (could have been the Shrewsbury truck since they're on…read morewheels?!). I originally mistook it for a shuttle bus from the back, but upon closer look saw that it wasn't an ice cream truck, but a shaved ice truck. New Wave stuff. My apartment manager was an angel and getting the truck for an event at our complex. He was taste testing and bought me one. I got one of their "adult flavors" and ordered a blueberry acai... I imagined it to be your typical shaved ice that you get from the ice cream truck that used to come through your neighborhood in 5th grade. But honestly, somehow they made flavored shaved ice - premium. It was really the best shaved ice I have ever had, and according to their truck they are low calorie. A wonderful treat on a hot day, would definitely spend my own money if they stopped by the neighborhood again.

And you can feel the old school vibes. They have old booths where you can take your dogs after you order. They also have counter service in the side room. George's grills Kayem Hot Dogs. Kayem originated in Mass btw. I always appreciate loyalty to in state makers. The classic George's dog is mustard, meat sauce and chopped onions. Standard white bun. I've seen mixed messages online about how you're supposed to order that dog. I've seen "All the Way." (Which is also how they say it in Providence). I've seen "Three Up", which is a new one for me. But the Menu actually says that a Coney is mustard, meat sauce and onions. So I ordered two coneys and everything worked out fine. The hot dogs were good, both in terms of the components, and in the sum of their parts. My dogs were not particularly snappy. I could see a grill mark. So perhaps it just needed a bit more turning so that it was more well done. Kayem is a good hot dog in terms of flavor. I prefer some other New England brands though. The meat sauce is good, but the seasoning didn't pop for me in the way that my favorite meat sauces do. I'm sure part of this is what you grew up with though. George's is a cool, old school, hot dog joint, that I imagine still does it like it always has. If that's how you like your hot dog spots, I suspect you'll love George's. 4.25 Stars
