Went to this Halal restaurant for the first time and the overall experience was not good!…read more First of all, their website listed on Google is not correct. It directs to an article about this restaurant on D Magazine website. Not sure why the owner has not noticed and corrected that yet. If there is no website then Google should not show it at all. It is just confusing to customers. Second, their restaurant menu is not up to date. Majority of the items under "Les Grillades," "A La Braise," and "Sauces" were not available. We were told by the server that they used to make it in the past but not anymore. If not anymore, again, why the menu is not up to date? Why wasting customer's time? There is a picture of a full grilled chicken with coleslaw on Google. When asked for it, we were told it is a "Pepper Chicken" that is only available during the day time and we also have to order in advance. We didn't see this item on the menu and not sure how customers will know about this item and when to order. Pure carelessness from the owner! For the food, we ordered "Meat Pie," "Benachin," and "Afra/Dibi" chicken. Meat pie was good but little expensive in my opinion. Afra/Dibi chicken was good as well and also came up with a decent portion. What I didn't like about it is that it only came with a bunch of onions and nothing else. No sides at all which I thought was little bizarre specially for the price they are charging. I did not like Benachin! Small portion, expensive, and tasted just okay. It was just a boiled meat with some rice and vegetable curry. Vegetable curry was good but rest of the dish was just okay. I don't recommend this dish. Their customer service was iffy. We were not checked upon in a timely manner. There was a short hair African American lady and her customer service was good. There was another African American lady and she definitely needs training on her customer service and attitude. She would barely come to the table and hardly answer any questions or try to help. Rest of the time I saw her behind the counter spending time on her phone! This restaurant only has bottled water and they charge for it. I may or may not come back to this restaurant in the future.

I loved the pies, the flavor of both of them were really good and the crust was perfectly crunchy. The sauce they provided on the side was quite spicy. We decided to get the top 2 most popular items, the Benachin and Chicken Yassa. The Benachin had good stew meat and flavor, however the meat was a little tough for me. I really did love the onion and carrot mix on the side, it gave the dish so much flavor. The Chicken Yassa also had that onion mix, and this time included fried potatoes as well, which were lightly seasoned. The chicken flavor was good, but also a little on the drier side. Overall, a good experience! Portions were large too.

I was first introduced to Aggies by a Cameroonian friend, in 2018. I've been hooked since my first bite. The menu is very small, with the same consistent 7or 8 entrees offered . But if it ain't broke don't fix it because the food is phenomenal! Spicy, fishy, fibrous Eru will clean out your gut for real. My favorite is with chicken, but the beef is tenderrrrrrr baby. The tilapia is the best grilled fish I have EVER HAD! ANYWHERE! Hands down! No ! Whether you order it with rice/stew sauce, or fried plaintain, you can't miss! I've also had the spinach parfait which was really tasty and fresh, but wasn't packing the heat that I crave. But a really solid veggie option, nonetheless. Random notes: The interior hasn't been open for dine-in for a while, post Covid. So it's take out only. You don't need to call in your order (because they'll likely cuss you out) because the menu is small and stuff is available really quickly. 10 minutes max! Though you may wanna call in advance to make sure they have fish, because sometimes they go like hotcakes, and when they are gone, their gone. You've been warned, now go forth and conquer, Young One!

The vibe was nice. You must make a reservation! This is what I enjoyed: Side of Lamb chops: 10/10 tender, meaty, nice smoky and sweet flavor, well seasoned. Side of Mac and cheese: 6/10 a bit dry, needs a bit more seasoning, if both of these things were not an issue it would be perfect. Oxtails and jollof rice: 10/10 oxtails were full of flavor and enjoyable. They could have been a bit more tender. Overall the flavor carried it to a perfect 10. The rice is seasoned and a bit smokey and cooked to the perfect doneness. Table bread: 9/10 puff puff style bread. They were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Brought out first and provided with every meal. It had a sweet seasoning mix on it. The mix to me was more for after dinner instead of right before the meal. Dusse mimosa: 10/10 nice and stout. I prefer Dusse over Hennessy which is what was on the menu. Jerk chicken: 10/10 flavorful wings. Jerk seasoning was there and not too spicy. Cooked just right and not dry. Collard greens: 6/10 savory flavor. I am a collard greens specialist and I prefer a sweet and hot profile. Although these are just savory they were cooked to the correct tenderness. Candied yams: 10/10 get blend of cinnamon and sweet flavor. Cooked perfectly.

For an appetizer, I started with the oxtail spring roll. I will say it leaned more toward a pot roast flavor because of all the cabbage and carrots inside. It didn't quite taste like oxtail or have much of the Jamaican flavor I was expecting, aside from the little bit of gravy served with it. For our meals, my friend ordered the Poundo Fufu with Egusi Soup and Beef, and I got the Jollof Rice with Stew Beef. The jollof rice was definitely some of the best I've had, really flavorful and the meat was tender and well done. The owner, Will, was very friendly and gave us some great recommendations for other dishes to try next time. If I'm ever back in Dallas, I would definitely stop by again.

Anyone who knows north Dallas, during rain, and rush hour, on Skillman....let's just say I was land locked and my food didn't stand a chance making it out of the parking lot From start to finish, Feme, made my first experience having authentic Liberian cuisine, and visiting this establishment, a shear joy. He was super helpful when placing my order and gave awesome suggestions of dishes to try, taking time to explain the ingredients and such. Upon arrival his shining personality wowed me again. My food was hot and ready for the taking, the place was sparkling clean and well decorated, as if a wedding reception or a party were about to take place. A bit much for regular Tuesday afternoon decor, but I don't mind a being a bit EXTRA every now and then! Like I said, my food didn't stand a chance! Someone, Kiss that chef because she is in that kitchen whipping up fire! I have tried palm butter soup at parties with my Ivorian friends but had been wanting to try the Liberian version, since seeing a dank recipe on YouTube a couple months back. Let's just say.... I had high flavor expectations! Well.... honey, Miss Chef in the back at little Monrovia Lounge blew my hopes, dreams, and TASTEBUDS out the water!!! The turkey and fish in the soup were both cooked to perfection, with fantastic balance of tenderness and firmness. When you get a good chew but you're not tiring your jaw or eating mush. The soup base itself, looked a bit oily, upon initial inspection, but as I began dipping that perfectly smooth fufu into the soup, sopping up all the juice, I quickly realized I was in heaven! Y'all, just try it!! And if your mouth ain't watering from this review, you're a hater

When we entered the place was completely dark because of the above so they turned the lights on and got us comfortable. Amazing customer service as well as history lesson at first. Followed by pretty great food, I got the rum punch on happy hour which I was excited to see hoping to return. When our bill came this wasn't reflected so I brought this up to the waiter, they denied that was the case (even though the menu said such.) Still they said they would take care of it (mind you there was another discrepancy for the stew price) and didn't do so & overcharged my card. Sad that such a gem had to be ruined by untrustworthiness.
