Went a little out of our way before watching Big Lebowski at Alamo Drafthouse. So glad to find Star still here and doing well. They did a renovation so it's more like a tiny cafe now than just a takeout counter. They also sell packaged sauces and spices online now! Food as delicious as ever. Oh the wonder of these flavors, mmm. Halfway through the movie, my thoughts went to the takeout sitting waiting in the car. read more

My wife has a pedicure done close by, so I get a big treat every 6-8 weeks. I always ask for my wife to bring an order of Tibs, their GREAT Cottage Cheese and extra injera back to our house in McKinney. Always cooked just right ! ! read more

The decor was a little barren, but the food was great. The Sweet bread was warm and chewy and the sambusas were well spiced.

I buy sambusa from this place every other Sunday, and it never disappoints! The flavor is incredible, and the customer service is always spot on. Highly recommend! read more

Had the pleasure of trying their food the past weekend and it was my first time having Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint. It was fresh and all the food blend so well and it tasted like an authentic meal cooked by someone mother and I appreciate that! read more

Beef tips, no jalapeño, with greens and injera. So good. The lady that is always at the register is super sweet, as well.

Food was really good, really spicy and service was great! I placed an order for pickup and it was ready in 15 mins. The veg plate is amazing! It comes with 5-6 veggies and all havecso much flavor. Now I ordered the lamb tibs and they needed flavor or seasoning it was a bit plain but delicious. I wouldn't recommend to come and eat in the restaurant it's really small in a weird neighborhood but ordering takeout is the way to go! Portion are big as well. I am satisfied with this restaurant read more

Amazing Ethiopian food! Big portions, the sambusas are the beeeessst!! Got the beef ribs and veggie plate, delicious! Will definitely be back read more

Best place hands down. I tried this food for the first time 4 years ago & fell in love. As the years passed, I moved out of the area. Tried other Ethiopian places near me but they never exceeded my expectations in taste like Star Bukris has. Anytime I crave it, I gladly take the 30min drive. The veggie combo & doro wot is my go-to comfort food read more

If I can enter a restaurant and here a direct quote of an employee in front of me, telling a guy that he wont get food if he complains. after waiting 20 minutes myself. that is just terrible customer service. mind you everyone is using their speaking voice here. Ive consistently had experience of ordering and being told by the lady that I will receive my order in 10 minutes. every single time it's been 20-25. Idk the owners would have to personally contact me to make this right. receiving consistently terrible customer service is not a good feeling read more

Definitely the friendliest and freshest Ethiopian food. Doro wat was my favorite, but also took many other entrees to go and they were all good. Staff was so friendly and accommodating and helpful. Will recommend to anyone else looking for good Ethiopian in the area. read more

Star Bukri's Catering - Four entrees to go! Plenty of injera bread to take home. - Caterers Near Me - Garland, Texas

Huge portions of delicious food. The veggie combo is delicious. Always generous with injera too. I never have to ask for extra. I think 1 combo could easily feed 2 people. read more

One time i came upon this place and the owner took me into her kitchen and taught me how to make a few of their dishes! This is the best place to get traditional Ethiopian food! The Best! I later on went to Ethiopia for three months and can still say to this day Star Bukri's is the very closest thing you will find next to going to Ethiopia. read more

I love this place I love the family the owner everyone is very sweet and catering to all the customers. I been going here for over 10ths. Definitely yum!!!!! read more

The price is right. The food was great. The portions are big. It's worth the wait. This is a very small location on the eastern part of Garland at the intersection of Buckingham and Jupiter right across the street from Gojo in an in-line building. There is not much seating and I suggest you call your order in. I have gotten a Veggie platter twice now for $9.99. I eat small portions because I have a Volvulus (twisted stomach) and I eat about 3 to 4 meals off of one order. You get about eight items on Injura bread with more Injura bread as well. I met Daniel (the owner) for the first time last week. His daughter Mufti took care of me when I was in the hospital in Plano. She did such a great job with me that I surmised her family would do an equally good job as restaurant people. I had to chase down and find this place. I'm delighted that I found them. I'll shoot some photos for you and post them. read more

This is an Ethiopian place that is hard to find and is nothing fancy about it, but the food is to die for. There are like 4 tables to sit at inside and that is why I normally get take out. I order the vegetarian combo every time I stop in and am never disappointed. It is all so good. The workers may have a bit of trouble understanding what you want, but are super friendly and finally we get the order placed. Everything is usually ready quite quickly. If you have never had Ethiopian food, and want to try some that is cheap and good...Stop in here and get an order of something. I am sure you will return. read more

Wow, it was so delicious I had to share with my picky boyfriend. I ordered the fava beans and the vegetarian plate. People have always told me that this was the best Ethiopian food around and now that I've gotten a little more exposure I have to agree. The fava beans come with French bread and butter and spicy fine salsa. The vegetarian plate is about five different vegetable dishes served with injera, a spongy sourdough flatbread made with teff flour. The owners are very friendly and helpful. If you like spicy or Indian food give this a try especially if you've never had ethiopian food and want to try something different. The dishes are under 10$ and big enough for two, another +!!!! read more

Love this unassuming place! Best Ethiopian in town. The owner is very kind, too. And great prices. I always get tibs because it's so tasty!

On a recent visit to see family, my partner and I stumbled upon this Ethiopian gem by just driving by and taking a chance. We got a vegetarian plate and a lamb plate to go. They provided plenty of injera (the bread you use like a utensil to grab up delicious bites). The food was some of the best Ethiopian I've ever had. The lamb plate had a little bit of this spicy complex green sauce that added so much to the dish. The lentils and spinach and other veggies were great. I'm so glad we found it. The family running the place was very friendly, too. read more

Ate here for the first time after years of working in Garland, and the food was delicious. I had the veggie combo plate and it was great, and seems pretty healthy. Injera was very tasty as well. I'll definitely be coming back to try another dish. read more

This place is really great. I got the Doro wat and the veggie plate together. Everything was delicious, though it could have come out warmer. I wouldn't say that it was cheaper than the other ethiopian restaurants, you get a large portion but I ate 2 portions and was able to finish the portions. This is a great place to come if you love ethiopian ! *** UPDATE***: I went again and I've decided it IS much cheaper yet just as good as the other ethiopian restaurants. I got the same thing, this time it was packaged separately (I ordered to go) and for $17 I've gotten three full meals out of it, plus my mom ate some. Will be coming here exclusively. read more

I love their doro wot!!!! Omg, I love the sauce! I'm addicted. Who would of thought this place was any good. The bad part is that their beef tibs are very dry...sad but doro wot is bomb!! read more

I had lunch at Star Bukri's with a friend and enjoyed it so much. We decided we wanted to have Ethiopian food, and he suggested this place. It's quite small and not too fancy, but the food is great and so is the service. My friend had tibs - beef cooked with Ethiopian spices and onions and bell peppers - and I ordered the vegetarian combo. I opted out of trying the tibs because I am a vegetarian, but I loved the veggie dishes. We also had hot tea made with the sweetest spices which was a great addition to the meal. When I'm in the mood for Ethiopian food (injera) again I'll definitely be returning to Star Bukri's. read more

Picked up a veggie and chicken entree to go and the weight of the to go containers made me think they put a brick in the bag to weigh it down. You get your money's worth in food! Im basing my review on the veggie alone bc it was amazing. My baby even loved it. You get tons of injera (delicious spongey bread)to go with the meal. The lady that took our order and cooked was very nice and explained the menu to us. There are a few tables for dining in but it is ideal as a to go food and it tastes great heated up the next day. They have a different address on their Facebook page but that location is for group reservations only so go to the yelp address. read more
