Food was really good, really spicy and service was great! I placed an order for pickup and it was ready in 15 mins. The veg plate is amazing! It comes with 5-6 veggies and all havecso much flavor. If I can enter a restaurant and here a direct quote of an employee in front of me, telling a guy that he wont get food if he complains. after waiting 20 minutes myself. that is just terrible customer service. mind you everyone is using their speaking voice here. One time i came upon this place and the owner took me into her kitchen and taught me how to make a few of their dishes! This is the best place to get traditional Ethiopian food! The Best! The price is right. The food was great. The portions are big. It's worth the wait. This is a very small location on the eastern part of Garland at the intersection of Buckingham and Jupiter right across the street from Gojo in an in-line building. There is not much seating and I suggest you call your order in. I have gotten a Veggie platter twice now for $9.99. I eat small portions because I have a Volvulus (twisted stomach) and I eat about 3 to 4 meals off of one order. You get about eight items on Injura bread with more Injura bread as well. I met Daniel (the owner) for the first time last week. His daughter Mufti took care of me when I was in the hospital in Plano. She did such a great job with me that I surmised her family would do an equally good job as restaurant people. I had to chase down and find this place. I'm delighted that I found them. This is an Ethiopian place that is hard to find and is nothing fancy about it, but the food is to die for. There are like 4 tables to sit at inside and that is why I normally get take out. I order the vegetarian combo every time I stop in and am never disappointed. It is all so good. The workers may have a bit of trouble understanding what you want, but are super friendly and finally we get the order placed. Everything is usually ready quite quickly. Wow, it was so delicious I had to share with my picky boyfriend. I ordered the fava beans and the vegetarian plate. People have always told me that this was the best Ethiopian food around and now that I've gotten a little more exposure I have to agree. The fava beans come with French bread and butter and spicy fine salsa. The vegetarian plate is about five different vegetable dishes served with injera, a spongy sourdough flatbread made with teff flour. The owners are very friendly and helpful. If you like spicy or Indian food give this a try especially if you've never had ethiopian food and want to try something different. On a recent visit to see family, my partner and I stumbled upon this Ethiopian gem by just driving by and taking a chance. We got a vegetarian plate and a lamb plate to go. They provided plenty of injera (the bread you use like a utensil to grab up delicious bites). The food was some of the best Ethiopian I've ever had. The lamb plate had a little bit of this spicy complex green sauce that added so much to the dish. The lentils and spinach and other veggies were great. I'm so glad we found it. This place is really great. I got the Doro wat and the veggie plate together. Everything was delicious, though it could have come out warmer. I wouldn't say that it was cheaper than the other ethiopian restaurants, you get a large portion but I ate 2 portions and was able to finish the portions. This is a great place to come if you love ethiopian ! *** UPDATE***: I went again and I've decided it IS much cheaper yet just as good as the other ethiopian restaurants. I had lunch at Star Bukri's with a friend and enjoyed it so much. We decided we wanted to have Ethiopian food, and he suggested this place. It's quite small and not too fancy, but the food is great and so is the service. My friend had tibs - beef cooked with Ethiopian spices and onions and bell peppers - and I ordered the vegetarian combo. I opted out of trying the tibs because I am a vegetarian, but I loved the veggie dishes. We also had hot tea made with the sweetest spices which was a great addition to the meal. When I'm in the mood for Ethiopian food (injera) again I'll definitely be returning to Star Bukri's. read more

I live in Indianapolis, I had a wedding for about 400 people and hired Bukri's to do all the catering, She drove more than 12 hrs to were we live with her food and necessary material, She did an awesome job! the food was very good and yummy, their table setup was fantastic, to top it on that her beautiful smile, their patience, her and here partner willingnes to go out of their way to make everything the best. and even the food I ordered was for 400 people the food was enough for 600 people. Picked up a veggie and chicken entree to go and the weight of the to go containers made me think they put a brick in the bag to weigh it down. You get your money's worth in food! Im basing my review on the veggie alone bc it was amazing. My baby even loved it. You get tons of injera (delicious spongey bread)to go with the meal. The lady that took our order and cooked was very nice and explained the menu to us. There are a few tables for dining in but it is ideal as a to go food and it tastes great heated up the next day.
