First of all that's such a lovely name for a restaurant. So I'm in Dallas for the day and my sister decided to take me to the "famous salt and pepper" for some Gbegiri and Amala and all I can say is wowzersss. We walked into the restaurant and the space was big . The ambiance was not bad and the restaurant was clean. We ordered our food and all I can say is that the food was very tasty and one of the best and if not the best Amala I have ever eaten. The meat was so soft and the Amala was just the right size. The food was delicious! The flavor from the meats and the stew with the Gbegiri was just amazeballs!! To the chef well done. The hostess was very nice and professional.

I have been a regular customer of this restaurant for over a year, spending approximately $200-$400…read moreper month. I was introduced to the restaurant by a colleague, Jordan, who happened to be a relative of the owner. While the food is generally good, the management is a shit-show. The main issue is the red-haired manager whose attitude has been consistently arrogant, condescending, and dismissive. Over the past year, I've had several negative interactions with him. The first incident occurred when I requested stew without beef. I wasn't asking for a discount and was willing to pay the full price, yet he flatly refused the request until the owner stepped in and resolved the matter. The second incident involved a catering order for jollof rice. I informed him that I would pay upon pickup the next day. Despite being a regular customer for over a year, he insisted that I pay in full before he would even enter the order into the system. I complied. The next day, I called to let him know I would be picking up the order a day later. No matter how many times I explained that the order had already been paid for and that I didn't mind if it was refrigerated, he refused to listen. The conversation only ended when I challenged him on what exactly he intended to do with food that had already been paid for. The final incident happened today. I called in a pickup order for a plate of okro,$42,and arrived at the restaurant. Although he clearly saw me standing at the counter, he remained seated for some time before acknowledging me I knew there was going to be another bullshit today. When he finally approached, he asked if I was picking up an order and requested my name. Considering I've been a frequent customer for over a year, this was surprising but not an issue in itself. After I gave my name, however, he immediately began questioning why I had arrived late, stating that he had been given me 30 minutes to pick up the order. I asked what would have happened if I hadn't arrived within that timeframe. Instead of answering, he repeatedly insisted that I should have followed the pickup time. I asked multiple times whether he intended to give me my order, but the conversation quickly escalated into a shouting match even using the f-word. Then i turned back ready to leave without the food until another employee stepped in and called me back from the door.Eventually, this manager went over to the kitchen and brough my food, and I paid for it. However, after reflecting on the interaction, If he could be that vicious even in my presence, only God knows what he must have done at the kitchen with my food.I felt so uncomfortable with the situation that I threw the food away. A $42 of my hard earned money. Unfortunately, because of the manager's openly hostile attitude toward paying customers, I have no intention of returning to this restaurant ever again! And it is no longer a place I can recommend for anybody. Looking back, whenever I read negative reviews mentioning this manager, I always question, how hard could it be to treat people with respect. Especially your paying customers. After my own repeated experiences, I now understand exactly what those customers were describing. Again the response about not hold fooding because of food poison did not address the nasty attitude from your manager. This your response even make it seems that you encourage him to rude to customers. There many restaurants that keep food in the warmer for all day.chipotle, pappadeux for example. If thats even the case, is that why your manager pointing fingers at me and telling me that he had been watching me? This is what your regular customer deserve for their patronage? Is that why he refused to bring the food out until i almost left?

Once seated I immediately noticed the abundance of tables seated and only 2 waitresses. We were sitting for quite a while before a waitress came over to our table. And its not like she was ignoring us, she was literally trying to manage all her assigned tables. When she came over she was kind and apologized for the wait. She was also very transparent on the timing of the kitchen, which we truly appreciated. So we ended up ordering things that wouldn't take long to make; collard green egg rolls and jerk wings. It did take a while to come out but at least we had great live music to listen to while we waited. Once our orders came out, I feel like we inhaled it within 10 mins. Both dishes were good. We were dissappointed that we had to leave, but it was for the best. They were not properly staffed and we would be there hungry and longer than desired. But we'll try again another day in hopes it'll be a better experience.

Our server was great but she was handling many tables! Drinks: Sidecar (5/5) got two of them!! Food: They start you with complimentary beignet style puffs..eh these are alright...very greasy. We split the Oxtail spring rolls (3.5/5), collard green egg rolls (4/5), Catfish & Grits (just a tad salty but good... 4.5/5), Oxtail & Grits (no real Jamaican flavor 2.5/5), Mac & Cheese (literally taste like noodles and cardboard box 0/5), Collard Greens (very salty and interesting flavor (3/5), Yams (4/5) Hostess: Seemed like she had an attitude and not personable AT ALL. I also watched her rub her bare feet at the host stand. Plenty of parking!

Anyone who knows north Dallas, during rain, and rush hour, on Skillman....let's just say I was land locked and my food didn't stand a chance making it out of the parking lot From start to finish, Feme, made my first experience having authentic Liberian cuisine, and visiting this establishment, a shear joy. He was super helpful when placing my order and gave awesome suggestions of dishes to try, taking time to explain the ingredients and such. Upon arrival his shining personality wowed me again. My food was hot and ready for the taking, the place was sparkling clean and well decorated, as if a wedding reception or a party were about to take place. A bit much for regular Tuesday afternoon decor, but I don't mind a being a bit EXTRA every now and then! Like I said, my food didn't stand a chance! Someone, Kiss that chef because she is in that kitchen whipping up fire! I have tried palm butter soup at parties with my Ivorian friends but had been wanting to try the Liberian version, since seeing a dank recipe on YouTube a couple months back. Let's just say.... I had high flavor expectations! Well.... honey, Miss Chef in the back at little Monrovia Lounge blew my hopes, dreams, and TASTEBUDS out the water!!! The turkey and fish in the soup were both cooked to perfection, with fantastic balance of tenderness and firmness. When you get a good chew but you're not tiring your jaw or eating mush. The soup base itself, looked a bit oily, upon initial inspection, but as I began dipping that perfectly smooth fufu into the soup, sopping up all the juice, I quickly realized I was in heaven! Y'all, just try it!! And if your mouth ain't watering from this review, you're a hater

When we entered the place was completely dark because of the above so they turned the lights on and got us comfortable. Amazing customer service as well as history lesson at first. Followed by pretty great food, I got the rum punch on happy hour which I was excited to see hoping to return. When our bill came this wasn't reflected so I brought this up to the waiter, they denied that was the case (even though the menu said such.) Still they said they would take care of it (mind you there was another discrepancy for the stew price) and didn't do so & overcharged my card. Sad that such a gem had to be ruined by untrustworthiness.
