We found this place while searching for other spices. Needed olive oil for salads. Ended up with a great oil vinegar combination. Since she appeared to know the food scene in Billings, asked her about where I could get some rather different spices in bulk. She pointed us in the correct direction. Absolutely amazing!!

Unlikely location, but great store and friendly owner. Like all places of this kind, there are…read morerows of infused olive oils and vinegars with sampling available. Spiked olive has gift sets, but you can put create your own, and together with the other products, like seasonings and pasta for instance, and some made locally, round out the shopping adventure. It's not as large as other, similar shops, but that's doesn't keep it from meeting the criteria for "I didn't even think of that" for flavors. I like that there were individual paper tasting spoons. It seems less wasteful than those small plastic cups, but they do have those if you want a bigger gulp. The owner was very helpful. I was looking for a particular gift assortment for a gift for a home-bound friend, and after answering a few questions, I had a small gift basket ready. Spiked Olive is a small local business that does a great job helping foodies make their perfect recipes.

My dinner at Piccola was memorable. My order began with the octopus on a bed of arugula. The serving was beautifully presented on a lovely, long white dish. The octopus was flawlessly prepared; tender, consistent and delicious. Arugula salad was dressed with a complementary vinaigrette that enhanced the flavor of the octopus. My main course was their special, spaghetti with a Parmesan sauce with shrimp and lobster. Again, gorgeous presentation, the dish was hot and so rich, I saved half for the following day's lunch. Superb. Dessert was their gelato cappuccino. Two generous scoops and lush. Service was as expected in a restaurant of this caliber; impeccable. The venue is charming, relaxed and immaculately clean. This was an incredible experience. Thank you again to everyone on Piccola's team who created this memorable evening for me, Bill

So we were in red lodge passing through and were told this is the best Italian food in montana…read more Got here on a Sunday afternoon and it wasnt busy at all. Sat rather quickly. Server was alone, but managed great. I ordered the gnocchi and my wife ordered the carbonara. The bread that came complimentary was great and the butter and oil that was provided was tasty. My wife didnt really enjoy her carbonara because the noodles were too al dente however the flavor and sauce was good. I thought the gnocchi was a little bland as did my wife. However what was great was that ragu sauce with it. The sauce was amazing and I wish I had gotten that with pasta noodles. The reason for the low stars is because while the food tasted great, there were things that were lacking. Most crucial on the review was the fact that we had a direct view to the kitchen where we saw the chef on his phone the entire time. Several poses, bent over, hunched over and just standing there. We also watched him put several items in the microwave so we wondered how fresh the items were. Maybe this was a worker just reheating what the head chef made last week? Id give it another go, but recommend that the owner put up a curtain so we cant see the staff on their phone the entire time.

But, since this [Ace] hardware store used to be a grocery store, I guess it isn't that far out of the realm of possibility. Evergreen cafe is a small shop serving sandwiches, charcuterie trays, Wilcoxson's ice cream and the specialty of one of the owners: Kombucha. The brewmaster and his wife decided to open this small shop to do something different. Well, I guess a leap from engineer to kombucha brewmaster isn't what I would have expected, but from one science to another -- good for them. Each day you can stop in for a $5 grab and go box containing a half sandwich, maybe some chips, or vegetables, or a small serving of a salad of some kind. The salads are also available in containers for adding something to your at-home meals. There are at least two or three different kinds available at any time, and I've seen chicken, curry chicken, chicken apple, veggie, pasta salads. Of course, you can have a sandwich made there with your choice of meat (or egg), and cheese and you'll certainly not be disappointed in the serving size. So far, though, the charcuterie trays have been a winner for me. There are several different kinds, whatever she feels like putting into the particular tray along with the vegetables. Sometimes fruit, sometimes crackers, or different meats but they're made fresh every morning and she guaranteed each tray would contain at least a pound of something -- good for a small party -- or a couple of days of lunches or snacks. The kombucha is available in about four or five flavors. It doesn't have the sharp tang of some kinds, and the flavors are more muted, but they're still good. This time of year the cherry is must-try. Social distancing is handled well, here. There are a few tables, spaced far enough apart to meet the requirements, and that makes it easy to sit and enjoy your sandwich and perhaps chat with friends.
