The bread is very good, however I think they should've kept the loaf sizes the same in stead of decreasing the sizes and raising the prices. Please correct me if I'm wrong regarding the bread sizes being smaller. When our kids came to town, they both commented on the loaf shrinkages. At 1st we thought we were in error regarding the smaller loaves, but when our kids who only get here about once a year show the change, we were believers. One last thing, and I'm trying to pick on them too much, cuz coming to work at some insane hour wouldn't be the thrill of a lifetime. 10:38 at Central store a young man walked in off the street did not wash his hands into food prep area. He stood right in front of the uncovered bread shelves and scratched his head. When I expressed he should be wearing a hairnet the clerk put her arm around him and tried to talk him into ignoring my comment and said to him that he was OK. It was not OK and I came back over to explain to him what he had done, she still ignored my comments and talked to him, I left. Had the BLT sandwich and the chicken with rice soup. It sooooooo did not disappoint. Was absolutely amazing. The bread was amazing. This restaurant bakes their own bread. They sold pastries, cookies, lemon squares, and cinnamon rolls. Did not get any but it still looked absolutely delicious. I get two loaves a week! My only eh critiques would be: Please, Please get a drive thru. Wrangling children here and there is a chore, and sometimes I go elsewhere just because I would have to bring everyone Inside. It's hard with kids and an infant. Usually I have pretty good experiences here but we just ordered today for lunch and it was my fault for not saying no mayo on our sandwiches but our sandwiches were so soaked and drenched in mayo we didn't eat them. So we pretty much just had chips for lunch. read more

First I need everyone to know that Harvest Bread Company donates to the rescue mission where I volunteer. I've been watching the homeless enjoy delicious looking goodies and went there to check it out myself and support a business that is giving back to the community. I can't say enough about their customer service and bakery items. In fact I feel kinda ill because I could not stop eating a massive cinnamon roll I was just going to take one bite of! HUGE assortment of breads: tradition (white & wheat varieties), sweet (cinnamon swirl) , savory (cheddar) My personal favorites include their pumpkin chocolate chip loaf and some of their seasonal breads like gingerbread around Christmas. I've visited this GHB location a handful of times in the past six months and have generally had fine experiences. This seems like the type of neighborhood establishment that, despite being a chain, could really be the kind of place to wow you with their customer service if they tried, but that doesn't seem to be their thing. No worries, I may not be greeted with a smile, but the delicious baked goods have been enough to keep me coming back. After visiting yesterday though, I've got a bad taste in my mouth that I'm not even sure their doughy, cinnamon/sugar, loaf of carby perfection can cure. My mom and I stopped in after the lunch rush yesterday afternoon, and despite being one of only a handful of people there (and the only ones waiting on food), we twiddled our thumbs for about 15 minutes while we watched our sandwich creep painfully slowly down the prep board. Im totally fjne waiting under normal circumstances, but I'm less inclined towards patience when the reason for the snail's pace service is the two employees who are too caught up with gabbing to serve their customers. Once we finally got our sandwich, we hangrily drove home, and eagerly split into the sandwich only to discover our pined after BLT was some sort of soggy roast beef concoction (no disrespect to roast beef, but ick) and our carrots were absent from the equation. I've worked in restaurants, and also I'm human, so I get that mistakes happen (I once unintentionally dropped an entire pizza on a guest's white capris), but what GHB doesn't appear to understand is that it's how you address the mistakes that matter. I normally would have just let the whole thing slide, but we were spurred by the crabby cashier (did I mention the cashier wasn't feeling her job either?), chatty Cathy sandwich makers, and the swapped sandwich snafu, so we decided to call the manager to provide some constructive feedback (I love Yelp, but I wanted to give GHB an opportunity to right their wrong before airing this experience to my ones of Yelp followers - hi Ryan!). Mr. Manager apparently was having an off day too (what's in the water over there, GHB?), because he wasn't particularly interested in the call. Listen, I get it, working with the public can be a drag, but seriously, a simple "thank you for the feedback, our customers matter, I'll talk with my team and we'll do better", or a "I'm sorry you were subjected to nasty roast beef, please come in for a sandwich on us" would have gone a long way to restore our good graces. Oh well, maybe this break-up is a blessing in disguise. After all, my waistline probably won't miss all that warm, gooey bread. read more

This place welcomes everyone with a free slice of their freshly baked bread. I tired the multiple grain whole wheat, cheddar jalapeño $5.75, cheddar potato chive $5.75 and cheddar garlic breads. The breads are all made with Montana Wheat according to signs in the store. The cheddar breads were great. I also tired their California Cobb which was on, it had too much mustard & mayo for me and left the bread slightly soggy it was $7. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion for the loaves since they are quite large. read more

This place is great and the service is usually very good. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because I picked up a loaf of white bread today and noticed on the ingredient list they now put high fructose corn syrup in this bread! I'm shocked! It looks like other Great Harvest locations in other towns don't put this in their bread. Why at this location? I like to support local businesses but I also care about what my family eats. I personally choose to not eat bread with hfcs whenever possible and at nearly $6 per loaf, I can get a loaf with this horrible ingredient if I want at the grocery store for a fraction of the cost. Come on GH of Billings! Be proud of your bread and go back to making it without hfcs! It's better for us all! Other locations are doing it! read more

I live out of the state and called this company to send a gift certificate to a friend as a birthday present who lives in Billings, MT. They refused.
