By the time I got to this point of my trip in Orlando, I finally completed my visit to Disney World and simply wanted a light and quick bite. The cafe is hidden inside a residential neighborhood and the owner turned a historic home that was built in 1910 into a hip & dog friendly cafe. I really liked their background music (alternative rock) and I even said hello to their cat named Montel at the patio! There are plenty of sandwich, wrap, taco, and salad options, but I only ordered their signature pulled pork sandwich. *** The Dog's "Famous" Pulled Pork Sandwich (smoked pulled pork, served on a fluffy bun with Fish's Gold BBQ sauce; served with kettle-cooked chips & replaced slaw with salmon dip - $9.99 & $2 for pita chips): Overall a pretty solid sandwich, but sauce tasted a bit too overwhelming. I've heard great things about this place and we finally stopped in since we were in the area. The atmosphere of this place is really cool. It looks like an old house repurposed into a restaurant and it's full of interesting decorations. There's lots of photos of dogs on the walls from other patrons, a couple of bars, a nice outdoor patio area, and an upstairs area with additional seating. We didn't notice at first how to order, but finally realized you go to the counter. There wasn't a wait when we came in and we got our food pretty quickly after placing our order. Speaking of the food - holy moly! These are some legit good sandwiches! I chose the Florida Cracker which has a heaping serving of tender pulled pork, Gouda cheese, house made slaw, spicy pickles, and fried onions on Texas toast. My boyfriend ordered the White Trash which had pork, slaw, and Gouda. The sandwiches are piled high and there's no dainty way to eat them. Just dig in and don't be afraid to get your hands messy! Their signature barbecue sauce is delicious and a great compliment to the rest of the ingredients. I washed it all down with a delicious draft beer from the bar. My only critique is that I wish the bread was toasted, but you might be able to request this. On top of the cool atmosphere and delicious food, everyone working there was super nice. On our way out, one of the bartenders saw us taking a photo of the antique bus out back and even offered to take a photo of us together in front of it which was really sweet! I wanted to visit Yellow Dog Eats when I first lived in Orlando in the 1990s, but somehow never made it there. Now that I've moved back, I finally visited, and thankfully it's still there! We went for lunch on a weekday and it was busy (I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend!). There's such a fun, unique atmosphere to the restaurant. You order inside at the counter and then pick a seat (hopefully one is available!) in the outdoor covered seating area. They have a surprisingly large menu (and a table for you to stand at and peruse individual menus). For my first visit, I ordered The Rufus pulled pork sandwich. It had brie, cherry peppers, raspberry sauce, and BBQ sauce. I wasn't disappointed. The pork was delicious, flavorful, and plentiful, as were its toppings. Im not really sure how this place has 4.5 stars but man the food was terrible. The pulled pork was dry, the sides were all cold, and I ordered some oven potatoes to try and eat something warm and even the oven roasted potatoes were cold. My pulled pork sandwich came on a regular white sliced bread that was cold and crumbly, and the pulled pork was bland and flavorless. The service?? We order and go up and grab our own food...it's not like we are getting waited on. Ambiance is cool if you're into wearing beanies in 90 degree weather. This is such an awesome and cool vibe restaurant. You order your meal in the front at the cashier and then get a waiting buzzer timer. But quickly go find a table either inside, upstairs or outside. Just an FYI If it's a hot day, even though there are fans, it can be very warm. The menu is incredible, unique and delicious. Definitely try one of their daily specials on the chalk board. I actually went twice in one week because the mahi Rueben special was soooooo good. This restaurant comes up with the craziest combinations of food and sauces that sound as if they would not go together. But trust me the taste blows your mind. Check out their menu on line to see what I'm talking about. The Ahi tuna nachos, salmon club, pulled pork, tacos etc. all delicious. Their desserts are also delicious and once gone that's it. My husband's favorite is the coconut cake and when he sees it in the case he orders one to eat while we wait for our main food plus one to go. We learned not to wait to order dessert after our meal because you may be disappointed. They have refill your own soda, teas, water plus many beer choices. Besides frequenting this restaurant at least once a month, when our family has guests come to visit we always bring them here too. The sauces are always flavorful and on point. Portions are large, bring your appetite! The dining area outside is covered and fairly large, there's a bit of seating inside as well. Seriously, I am a native but I keep my house at 73 and I enjoyed the patio. Got the tuna fish sandwich - it was very good and we got the pugnacious pug beef sandwich that was very good too. For about 3 years while living in Orlando, I've been wanting to try Yellow Dog by recommendation from a friend. It was always out of the way, and another friend said the portion sizes are small.. so I was somewhat hesitant to make the drive out. My hubby and I now live a lot closer, and decided to finally try it out. Since then we've returned two more times and each time, they never disappoint. My friend who said the portion sizes are small is c-r-a-z-y. The sandwiches that we've gotten were huuuge!! Plus they come with a small bag of chips... surely you can be full after a meal here. My husband always gets the Club Elvis. It's a pulled pork sandwich with crispy onions, gouda cheese and carolina gold bbq sauce. Thankfully he's let me have a bite because it's DELICIOUS (and such a big sandwich)! You can modify the sandwiches or the bread if you like to. I've tried the classic yellow dog club, which I wasn't too much of a fan of the bread it came on. Had I changed the bread I'm sure I would've loved it. I've also tried the bleu suede shoes, which was sooo good. I definitely favor that one. Yellow Dog has a limited first floor inside seating with a bar, but they also have a pretty big outside area with a stage for live music, and a big upstairs area too. I didn't like the upstairs area, was a little outdated, inside stairs are really tight and steep, and had a bit of a funky smell. Outside seating is ideal here. They have some cool VW buses outside decorated with everyone's stoner faves.. Cheech n Chong, Jim morrison, Jimi Hendrix.. cool for pictures. It's one of our fave places right now. I loved the crispy cucumber slices and the smokey sweet of the pineapple. There is a little spicy zip as well. My daughter ordered the Club Elvis with pulled pork, Gouda cheese, bacon and fried onions. It's a hand-full and not for the dainty. No sign of that sandwich when we were done. You can enter from the front or back and order at the counter. There is also a bar inside. You take a pager to be alerted when ready to pick up. The dining room is a landscaped-covered back patio with an eclectic mix of tables and chairs. Very fun, laidback vibe. Pulled pork is the star of the show, but you can get entree salads as well. They also have a few desserts. But the portions are so big that you probably won't have room. Not the best option for Low FODMAP. Unsure about gluten-free. We chose the bar and ordered the pulled pork soft tacos and added on the beer cheese soup for $1.00 it was a very small side and should most certainly not be called "soup" as one would thing you are actually getting a cup of soup rather than a 2 oz small side - it was good but should probably be referred to as a side sauce. The food is plentiful so make sure you are hungry. It's a really fun vibe for sure and outside is nice with all the fans and it's all shaded. Consistently one of my favorite sandwich shops. The ingredients are always fresh, the sandwiches are always piled high, and they take the utmost care in house smoking all of their meats to perfection. The ambiance is super cool, with that hippie laid back vibe, outdoor seating, live music during certain times, and colorful signs and posters everywhere you look. The Holy crap is always my go to. Mesquite honey turkey, avocado, pecan smoked bacon, goat cheese, red onions, basil mayo. Everything just compliments each other perfectly and the sandwich is jam packed with meat. Plus whatever they do to their bacon amps is up to the next level delicious. Even the bread taste homemade! (White bread eaters, don't shy away. You don't even know you're eating whole grain.) My only critique would be more basil mayo. It got a bit lost in everything else. I also got a bite of the Classic Yellow Dog Club (with the added pineapple rings and sunflower sprouts) and the wicked tuna. But were very tasty. The pineapple added an interesting sweetness to the club that made it unique. And while not typically a fan of tuna, the addition of that Brie and raspberry combination was a flavor burst that left me wanting another bite. While I didn't get any of their pork this time, I have had it before and have to say it's some of the juiciest, freshest and most flavorful pulled porks I've ever had, and the sandwiches they create with it are fun and creative (and always delicious). As an up charge, sub out the chips for their orzo salad or cucumber tomato salad. Both are so freakin good you won't be disappointed. read more

Mesquite smoked turkey pressed with avocado, goat cheese and basil mayo!!! Yummmmmm! Others in party had the What the fig and the Drunken Pig. I liked the What the fig almost as much as the Holy Crap, the Drunken pig not as much. Next time I'm going to have the salmon BLT. My latest sandwich was The Florida Cracker and all the components - tangy slaw, spicy pickles, bacon, Gouda cheese, fried onions, and the BBQ sauce - enhanced the wonderfully seasoned and moist pulled pork. The house slaw didn't make it on my platter but I didn't notice until I looked at my sandwich pic afterwards! No hesitation here with ordering this flavor-full sandwich again. My wife chose sweet potato tacos from the vegetarian menu (yes, it's own menu!) and all I heard from her after the first bite was, "This is so good. This is sooo good." I think that says it all. Came here for the first time on Tuesday night, everything about it was really just great. All staff members were friendly and welcoming! Food was fantastic including the desserts! Can't even recommend one thing more than the other cause everything we had was good. The Cuban, the holy crap!! The pulled pork, the banana foster, orange cake. We would def have all again! I did make the small substitution of no blue cheese because I hate the stuff, which they made for me gladly. Tbh having that might help cool down the spice. I wasn't sure I'd like the orange mayo but actually it was a pleasant sweetness with the spice of everything else. Loved the jalepeno ranch and pepperjack cheese is always a win. They had fun quirky little sauces too. They also have local beers and wines. We ordered the Fire Pig and the What the fig. Both had pulled pork but one was basically a wrap or burrito and the other was a sandwich. It was fun to eat and had some cool sweet and savory flavors, but for me the ambiance was most memorable. I'd probably go back just bc I loved that so much. They have two other locations in FL. Perhaps I'll check those out! It's super dog friendly here too and I know that prob. made me even more excited.
