Sometimes after I fly, I dont really want to deal with an Uber or Lyft, and just want to do things the old fashioned way. I like that airports still have this option for people who would rather just hail down a cab like back in the day. Yellow Cab has gotten me home numerous occasions, all safe rides and incredible how so many of the cab drivers know the roads without GPS. Kind of impressive. Sometimes cabs can be cheaper than rideshare if there is a surge happening. I like to mix up my travel just to try to other options out and to not get so stuck in certain ways of doing things. Yellow cab AZ drivers will all try to scam you and make you pay more. This has now happened to my husband and I on multiple occasions, so I finally want to voice my concern to the public since this just happened again last night. Cab #273 around 7:30pm on 12/16/24, first of all, took us way out of the way from our destination of Tempe Mission Palms hotel. He said he knew where he was going, but he clearly did not and did not put the address in his GPS. Once dropping us off, he told us the price was $25. We take the taxi all the time from the airport to Tempe mission palms hotel because I work there and park my car there while we travel, and it is $15. When we confronted him and asked to see the meter, he immediately said okay fine it's $15. He never even turned on any meter, knowing he was going to scam us the whole time. I wanted to warn others of this taxi cab and the company, because this is a reoccurring problem with this company and their drivers. They think that we are from out of town because we are getting a taxi, so we won't know the difference when they are trying to scam us. We take the taxi because it is usually cheaper than an Uber or Lyft for the distance we need to go from the airport, but we are getting fed up with the scams, so we are going to now keep to ordering an uber or Lyft because at least we know what the price will be, and no one will try to scam us. The WORST! I called for a cab for my husband who was at Sky Harbor Airport and needed to get to the Emergency Room at St. Joseph's Hospital. After one hour, they hadn't shown up so I called and was told the driver was in the vicinity. After another 45 minutes, the cab still did not arrive so I called back and actually talked to the original agent, Edith, who took my call again. I explained the problem and told her that my husband had seen lots of Yellow Cabs drive by but none stopped. Edith told me that my husband would have to GO OUT AND FLAG ONE OF THEM DOWN (crossing four lanes of 40 mph traffic!) and tell them who he was and they would accept him. Unbelievable! I would give a zero. We scheduled days in advance to take 87yo relative to a medical appt. Got confirm number. Never showed. I calked and was told the drivers are independent contractors so if they dont pick up the ride, yellow cab wont guarantee a ride. This means that if a ride isnt far enough to be worth it..the person is out of luck. This 87yo sat out in AZ heat waiting for an hour, got no call telling her they were not showing up. Today, I had to leave my car for transmission service that was going to be ready tomorrow about noon. I was thinking that I would use the yellow cab as it's an old established American company, and that I would rather use them for services rather than using Uber or Lyft. My first call went out at 10:30 AM after checking in and dropping off my vehicle. They have a call service. The young lady was very pleasant and told me they would have someone there within 30 to 40 minutes. Well, OK there's less yellow cabs out there than other ride services. An hour later, no call from the driver. I called back over there and was told that they were shorthanded and another driver would be there in 21 minutes And would call when they were in the parking lot to pick me up. Another 40 minutes past I called again again and this time was told that the driver should be there any minute. Half an hour later, still no driver. I called back once again and said canceled the damn ride. The guy just told me at the transmission service, we're gonna have your car ready in an hour and a half if you wanna wait. So, I went and had a nice lunch over at El Pollo Asodo, I went back to the transmission shop, fell asleep on the sofa and sure enough right before 2 PM, my car was ready and I drove home. When I called the last time to yellow cabs call service, I told the young lady, I swear that your drivers are sabotaging your own business by not having the courtesy to be professional and at least make a call back or show up, which is part of their job description. So, although I can't stand the companies of Uber or Lyft, I will use them in the future because after how I was treated with this shite show with the yellow cab, they lost my business for the rest of my life. If this is how they treat their customers, they should close up shop. The only reason I left one Steyr is because I couldn't make zero stars and have the rating on here. read more

Hello everyone, Im usually pretty busy & for the most part I don't like wasting time writing a review regarding a business. In most cases, if I have a bad experience with particular business I just don't use there services anymore. However, occasionally I will give a business a second chance because I feel maybe over the years the service have improved. However, I just want to say "YELLOW CAB", is the worst business ever for many years & even still today in 2025. They don't care about there customers because on several occasions they have not only arrived very late; but on two (2) occasions they actually caused me to miss my flight...YES THIS IS A FACT!! In the past, & on the morning of my flight I would call "YELLOW CAB", around 9 / 9:30 am to have an schedule pickup in the afternoon between 2 or 3pm. Then around that scheduled time I would be expecting a call from them regarding an ETA. I will admit sometimes I would receive a call regarding an ETA; but I never thought I would ever experience not receiving a call & also they would not show up. I have also heard from other cab drivers, who told me they once drove for "YELLOW CAB. But they had a very bad experience & eventually resigned to work for another cab company. My brother needed a ride to St Joseph's Hospital for a procedure and called Yellow Cab. Two plus hours later he was still waiting. I called him expecting to talk to him at the hospital but he told me he was still waiting for the cab! He told me he had just called them and they told him he was still on the board. Then I went to Yelp and found another company open 24/7 and asked them if they could take him to the hospital. After giving them his address, they told me they could have someone there in 10-minutes! I set up an appointment for my 85-year-old mother-in-law to be picked up at her apartment for a doctor's appointment I was very explicit and told the receptionist at yellow cab it was an apartment and that the parking area was in the rear in the alley. They said they would call. I mentioned this several times and they said they understood .I confirmed that several times When they arrived they never called. They didn't show up. It's the right place because my 85-year-old grandmother sat outside in a wheelchair for 45 minutes. I would've done this myself, but I'm out of state. when I called today to find out why they didn't pick her up they said they had none of that information in the request which is very untrue. Rude, unreliable, wait times are ridiculous and no wheelchair accessible vans.....even though they are listed as having them. Called 3 times; 1st time the rude broad hung up on me and all I did was ask about wheelchair access. Fact is, I have found the Cab/Taxi companies in Phoenix and outlying areas completely useless and rude. I wish now I had the money for a van with a lift and I would have my own cab to help folks like myself. I know, like myself, I dislike driving in Phoenix but the only reliable transportation so far is ParaTransit in Glendale and Phoenix. But you have to call early, 24 hours before. My husband had to wait stranded on the heat because non of the drivers would take a request for a wheelchair accessible ride. He was put on hold every time he called to confirm his ride, just to hear the same answer over an over "no one as accepted the request". You Yellow Cab did not care!!! if something had happen to him I would blame you!! he had to wait from 3 pm to 7 pm for someone to show up! After 6 calls and all of them with more than 30 min on hold. Disgusting service and driver - Do not use this company - Zero rating Cab number 1133 Phoenix From a previous bad experience, I always ask the driver if the credit card machine works before entering a taxi. I do this religiously. The answer on this occasion was yes (as it usually is) but I need to check as I don't carry cash, nor use ATMs. Half way through the 30 minute $57 journey, the driver tells me the machine doesn't work as it didn't work earlier in the day for another customer. I reminded him he told me when I got in the car it did work, so why this update. He raised his voice several times to say, it's not a big deal and he will take me to an ATM. I told him it was a big deal to me and he shouldn't have said it worked when I got in the car. I asked if we could try the machine when we get to my home. Again with a raised voice he said why would we do that and then have to look for an ATM, as it doesn't work. He insisted very angrily that I go and get cash from an ATM. Being late at night, on a highway, I didn't have any other options. After being taken to a Circle-K station to get cash out he commenced to sing in the car 'I'm having pizza and chicken wings for dinner' over and over again. He asked me if I liked pizza - obviously, absolutely furious, I didn't answer, so he answered for me 'yes I like pizza', and continued to talk to himself. If that wasn't horrendous enough, he then drives me to the wrong address, 3 miles from the address I gave him. After waiting too long for an Lyft driver who couldn't find me, I saw the yellow taxis lined up so asked about a ride to downtown Phx (Seamus McCaffreys Irish pub, to be exact). I was told $17 flat rate if it falls within their parameters & he showed me a map. It did. Off we go. Driver took the longest possible route to the corner of Central and Monroe. When we arrived, the meter said $19.86. I told him the guy up front said $17 flat so that's what I'll pay (also posted on the taxi window with a map- see pic). He pointed to his meter and sau that's the fee. I said $17. He said fine and then said cash is best payment. Paid in cash. Not bc he said so but because I actually had cash on me. Don't like trying to being swindled even though I ended up paying the agreed amount. He would've gotten a fat tip if he didn't try what he did. End of story. read more

What a terrible experience. After successfully getting a cab home from the car rental drop off a couple weeks ago, I was satisfied enough with Yellow to hire them again to take my elderly mother to the bank today. I called around noon "What time" the dispatcher asked. "Anytime between 1 and 4 pm" I replied. She had no problems with that and put me down for a ride to the bank. Its 3:30 pm and no cab yet so I call them. "I called earlier today for a ride between the hours of 1-4 to the Bank and its 3:30 and I'm getting a little nervous. I stated. "What time" the dispatcher asked "1 to 4" I replied "It doesn't work that way, you can't do that" The dispatcher said. "I was flexible, I didn't care so long as we got picked up in that 4 hour interval... The lady I spoke with and took my call had no problems with that arrangement" I gave her information and she tells me the ride was cancelled because I didn't answer my phone when they called. Well I did not get a call. Regardless it was 3:30, mistakes happen and I asked "the bank is open for another 1.5 hours can I still get a ride" "Yes I'll put you down". I took a taxi from Phoenix Airport to my hotel.a lady from New York joined me in the ride. she was going to different hotel about 4 miles from the airport. in stead of taking me to my hotel first which is 1.5 miles from the airport.we drove to hers first. As Snowbirds we fly in and out of Sky Harbor a few times a year. Since Covid killed the group Super Shuttle to Mesa, we have used Yellow Taxi and been quite happy. Never again after yesterday. We had booked with Yellow Taxi a week before our flight. I checked, and confirmed, two hours before our scheduled pick up. We were scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. pick up to get to Sky Harbor by 3:10, as advised. 2:30, no taxi, 2:40 I phoned to be told that dispatch had been called but no taxi had answered. 2:50, no contact, 3:00 no contact. At 3:10 our neighbor hopped on her Uber App. At 3:17 we were on our way to Sky Harbor with our Uber driver (yes 7 minutes from order to pick up). At 3:25 Yellow Taxi finally called us.
