It was a Thursday afternoon and I asked them to pick me up and at that point they said it would take 10 minutes that was a lie he showed up 2 hours later. The driver looked about 90 and was high on drugs when I asked him to take me to a restaurant he asked me for my number (I'm a guy) after I said no he accelerated to about 90MPH though a school zone and almost mowed down a family of five pretty reckless driving swerving through the road and quickly got to chic fil a (the only good part was that it was fast. He then got into an argument with the employee taking orders and spit at him, when my food came he ate it to my protest. We then finally got home but not without him continuing his reckless driving. Do Not Use This Company- I made a reservation for 6:30 am on a Saturday to get to the train station. This was the night before and they said no problem. Come 6:30 am and no one shows up. I call to find out where it is and they said it's only going to be an hour. I almost screamed. An hour? The point of making a reservation is to reserve the spot so that I can be on time! They said to call back in 15 min. I did that. They said "oh I'm sorry no one has picked up the ticket..." Furious I opened up my Phone and used an application (not sure if I am allowed to mention ) and got a car in 11 min. The simple fact that a company says they will make a reservation and not honor the agreement is unbelievable to me. I missed my train and thankfully got on the next train. However if you need to head to the airport I would be mortified to have to use their service. Save yourself the headache- don't use the service. read more

I'd say, "Ol' Reliable." When I planned my trip to Connecticut, I assumed I could depend on Lyft. How wrong I was!!! Luckily I found out about Yellow Cab Co and was impressed by how immediately/unconditionally they were reached by phone! They operate 24/7. Their version of "ASAP pickup" usually denotes 30 minutes - WAY better than Lyft/Uber which just straight up has no rides. The prices were great, in my experience! I paid exactly what I would have paid with a Lyft, if not a little less. They dropped me off in Essex one day, and later got me to the train station early. The taxi consistently arrived a few minutes before scheduled. I recommend to schedule your ride in advance; when I didn't call ahead on a Friday night, I wasn't able to get a ride from them. (I ended up getting a ride from some kind strangers I met - Connecticut is awesome, LOL!) The taxi itself is emblazoned with their logo, as well as a hint of eau-de-cigarette, but nothing unpleasant. There was a nice safety divider which still made our voices audible. I was able to charge my phone in the car. When I asked my driver to slide his mask up a tad, and he happily did so and did the same during my second trip. And I was happy to support a local business! read more

First, I love their phone number. Second, their customer service was great for me. I called the night before for a morning pick up at my hotel. The representative was quick and friendly on the telephone. The driver called my hotel five minutes before pick up to let me know he was around the corner. That was a nice touch because he was on time. The drive was fine, and the rate was reasonable. When I was done at the convention center, they had a few cars waiting, so I didn't have to call for a pick up. This driver wasn't as friendly, but the drive and service were good overall. read more

After having a horrible interaction with Norwich Cab Company, I immediately called the next number on my list provided by the Foxwoods Resorts and ended up with these guys. The guy on the other end was polite, friendly, and promptly booked me a cab for the next day. This morning, I called to confirm and they in fact still had my reservation. My cab driver, Robert J. Moulton came promptly at 2:30 pm. Robert was an absolutely lovely driver who was friendly and professional. He made friendly conversation and drove safely. Overall, it was a very lovely experience to have him as my driver. This was a far cry from the first cab company that I called and even a far cry from the airpot taxi who took me to the Foxwoods (where the guy got lost and drove really unsafely). I love their dispatchers Sharon, and I believe the other lady name is Tasha. I'm a regular user of Yellow Cab(4-8 x's a week). And both women always know my pickup & drop off info every time I call. While the some of the driver's people skills have room for improvement, I still prefer YC over the other companies. Especially since they're 27/7, rain, sleet, and snow. The downside are the boxy looking vehicles have separate A/C controls and the air comes out as just hot air. That lack of A/C control in the summers , combined w/the fact you can't roll down the back windows, it all adds up to one stuffy, and possibly smelly(depending on the previous passenger) car ride. But otherwise it seems like they'll go out of their way for customers. I'd left my phone behind tonight. Other cab companies would've told me to P/U my phone at the dispatch office the following morning. But the dispatcher actually tracked down my cab driver, and the driver surprisingly brought my phone to me at home within 15 minutes. read more

I called at exactly 12:15pm on a Monday afternoon to drop me off at Union Station, which is literally 5 minutes from my pick up location. The dispatcher told me it would be a 5 to 20 minute wait. Ok Fine. I waited on the steps for the taxi to come. 12:25, dude calls to tell me he is literally 1-2 minutes away. 12:40, dude shows up, then proceeds to tell me that this isn't his car and that he has to make a stop to pick up his regular customer before dropping me off! Then he's going to ask me, how much do I normally pay, $14? Umm, no Yellow Cab normally charges me $12, but if I really felt like getting into it with him at that moment, I would have only given him $10. $12-14 is still an exorbitant amount for the short distance (this isn't NYC son!). So dude drives up the street to pick up his "regular customer". Of course dude isn't waiting outside. It's now 12:45. I still have to get my ticket and I don't want to have to wait in the back of the line. Then instead of just continuing down Capitol and then onto Broad Street, he takes some all around route and gets stuck in god knows how many lights. I get there at 12:55. Absolute worst service I've ever delt with. Hands down. Called over an hour and a half ago was promised "5-20 minutes" I call an hour later and that guy who was going to drive us "no longer could drive us"so they assured us a 15 minute wait AT MOST for the next driver. They say they are setting up your pickup, but in fact they call a driver on a cell phone 30 minutes before your scheduled pickup, and if they don't get him on the phone, they leave a message and assume he will get you. Their dispatchers are mostly rude and lazy. All but one of their drivers are also extremely rude, irritable and scary. I was about to call the police today - that's how scared I was today. This was a good car service but boy has it gone down hill. When I first used them the driver was on time and courteous. They are going down hill fast! The last time I used them the driver was late, rude and tried to overcharge me. Today was the final straw I order a cab for 8;05 a.m and waited for the cab for 30 minutes called the dispatcher who then told me she could not locate the driver because he was not responding. She then stated she would call me back and never did! Finally at 8:57 I get a call telling me the cab is six minutes away. YEAH Right. By the way did I mention I was trying to make it to catch a 9 A.M. bus. Only after we were $8 in to the ride did he inform me that the local laws required liquor stores to close at 9:00. That in my book is dishonesty. I made a Yelp account solely to review this company. I had to be at Bradley Airport by 330am on a Monday morning. I called this cab company around 11pm. The first problem was simply talking to the employee on the phone. He asked questions so fast I had to ask him several times to please slow down because I couldn't catch what he was saying (I was perfectly polite). He confirmed by cab. Then 3am rolled around and no cab. At about 315 I called asking what was the problem and they simply said "were still looking for a cab to send to you"...... I received NO CALL to tell this. They knew where I was going so they knew I had a plane to catch. After asking many times why they didn't call and tell me they were running late I just said don't send it I'll miss my flight if you're any later and had to wake up my girlfriend up to drive me. I am a regular customer of Yellow cab by default. I call every night 4-5 times a week to get me home. I called on 08/07/2014 at 10:04 pm as I usually do, the girl told me 30 mins, I thought that was unusually long wait time than the average 5-20 min time frame they give me every night. 10:40-NO CAB 10:41 I call, the guy who answered seemed puzzled almost as if he did not see an order for my address. HE says ok 5-10 mins a cab will be there. 10:47 get an automated call that my cab has arrived. THERE IS NO CAB. I quickly call the cab company and let them know the cab was not there. He said it should be there 2 mins 10:52- NO cab call once more- A girl answers says cab will be there shortly 11:04- STILL NO CAB I ask for a supervisor, supervisor says that the cab is getting gas and should be here in 10 mins 11:20 I call ONCE MORE, the girl gets rude and decides to tell me that I will see the cab when he gets there..... It was 11:40 still no cab, I ended up having to start walking home 1.5 Hour walk because of a bad foot I have when THANK GOD I Saw an ACE CAB AND HE TOOK ME HOME. WORST SERVICE EVER. read more

I use yellow cab occasionally but primarily we use it for my elderly mother since she was accepted for the Freedom Ride program. I have always had acceptable service for myself but my mother has had EXCEPTIONAL service since she signed up for the program. The drivers have always been courteous and kind to her, even walking her up to her front door when it's dark or the weather is bad. She tells me her favorites are James D and Sammy D; they treat her just the way I would, and I can't thank them enough! read more

Sorry to see such a low rating for Yellow Cab. Today I am a first time taxicab user. The dispatcher was polite professional and informed me how using Yellow Cab works. $3.00 to get into the cab and then $2.70 a mile plus cost of having cab wait. This is standard practice and follows CT law. I called back and asked for a non-smoking cab for twenty minutes from the call. Leon Pierce (Cab 1) was in my driveway 20 minutes on the dot. He came to my door took my bag and jacket and even wanted to help me with two bags of trash I took care of the trash. He was polite, friendly, outgoing and a safe driver. He took me from the southern part of Enfield CT to my Bank of Hazard Ave, followed by driving me to Suffield, and then back to Enfield to the holiday inn near the Massachusetts line. Cost $35.00 which is right on target as I checked mileage and added up cost prior to calling Yellow Cab. He had not problem writing me a receipt. He even gave me his # to call when I was done swimming at the Holiday Inn to drive me home. His timing was great. I swam and exercised in the pool, showered and as I walked into the lobby of the hotel he was pulling up. No call needed. He drove me home which cost $20.00. He even waited in my driveway until he knew I was able to get into my car and waved good bye. I was so impressed I tipped him a total for $16.00 for his outstanding service. I would have tipped him more but that is all I had. When I came into my house I called Yellow Cab to praise Leon and the Dispatcher who took my call. I just have one non-positive. Leon noticed by call was in the system for a little while and came from Bloomfield, CT. It is my understanding is that a lot of the other drivers do not like and will not come to Enfield. Even the ones at Bradley international Airport. I do not know how the taxi drivers are employed so Yellow Cab may have no control regarding this issue. That is fine with me. i work in a dialysis clinic here at hartford and we have a few patients that need to be transported via w/c from a nursing home to our clinic, and back from our clinic to the nursing home. Lets just say, these idiots can't follow directions or EVER be on time. Ive been stuck at work several times due to these people not doing their job. Ive spent hours on the phone with them trying to tell them WHERE to pick my patients up, yet they still lack the intelligence to follow simple instructions. "enter into the dialysis clinic sign with a wheelchair accessible van." To them, this translates to, "arrive 30 minutes late, enter the other entrance, and leave cus the patient isnt waiting there." This is not just a 1 time thing. this has happened SEVERAL times. It almost feels like its on purpose. Im so sick of these guys. It actually hurts my brain to think these people are this thick. This company employs the worst cab drivers I have ever experienced. Over the past month or so, I have taken 10 or 12 rides with them. The kind cab drivers were all wonderful and lovely: punctual, nice, etc etc. However, they are far and few in between. Due to the large quantity of douchebags, I have resolved to never call 860 666 6666 again. More than half of the cab drivers are seriously awful. They are unprofessional, untimely and mean. Two of them insulted me for paying with my debt card, rather than cash. They told me it was my fault that the company was taking 10 percent out of every card transaction. This made absolutely no sense to me as I was tipping them very well, and of course, this was after they showed up late. Furthermore, one of them (cab 101) overcharged me, thinking that I wouldn't notice. It usually costs me 13.00 for a 2 or 2.5 mile ride. The station is 1.3 miles from my house. However, it ended up being almost 14.00. When I asked him about it, he began to yell at me. The whole experience was so terrible that I actually had to tell him to shut up. I have never done that to a cab driver before. When I tried to file a complaint, I got transferred from one answering machine to the next. No one listened to me. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT TAKE CABS FROM THIS COMPANY. Not worth the money, and certainly not worth the stress. I was driving today June 25th at 5:30pm down 84 West and noticed a yellow cab swerving ridiculously. I figured one of two things was happening. Either the driver was going in and out of consciousness due to a medical emergency or they were inebriated. When I finally got the courage to pass them up I see that I was wrong on both accounts. The idiot driver of cab number 67 with Yellow Cab Co. Phone number 860-666-6666 was texting. This jackass couldn't care less if he got injured or injured another person. After an hour of waiting, I received a call that they are attempting to get a hold of a driver to come pick me up at the location (a shopping center), which I have seen cabs pull into on multiple times. Finally someone that I knew pulled up when he saw me, and asked if everything was fine. I flew into Bradley and got in YCC cab at the taxi stand, traveling to Glastonbury (that's how I found them). Driver was super nice and helpful, hence why I booked them to bring me back to Bradley a week later. Well. That was a HUGE mistake! I called 5 days before to arrange for them to pick me up at 4:30 pm on Sunday. I called them at about 230 pm on Sunday to confirm the driver would be on time, since the weather was bad and I needed to check baggage, I wanted to make sure they had my reservation confirmed. I was solidly assured everything was good to go. Well, 4:30 pm came & went without a sign of them. 450 pm came and I decided to call to see what the status was (starting to worry about making my flight - had to be at Bradley in 30 minutes). The OBNOXIOUS, GHETTO, RUDE woman who answered the phone was completely out of line and started yelling at me when I said they really should call people and let them know they're running late. She barked that I had no right telling them how to run their business, etc... Getting progressively more ghetto on me as she went on. Well, of course, I hung up on her, why would I stay on the line to be reprimanded by an unprofessional bitchy unprofessional person who I'm PAYING for services? I called right back and asked for a supervisor. Nearly 5 minutes on hold later, a woman picked up "Yeah." (literally, that's how she answered), so I asked if she was a manager or supervisor, answer: "Yeah." (very professional don't you think?!) So I proceed to tell her what just happened and her response? "Yeah." That's it. "Yeah." Seriously?! A few minutes later the driver Chris pulled up, very kind, polite, professional and overly apologetic on the company's behalf. He gave me his cell # and said don't bother with the office next time, call him directly next time (my husband and I go to/fr the airport about 4-6 x each per month, so it's their loss, trust me). When I got to my destination, I proceeded to write not 1 but 2 complaints to the company via email and haven't heard a peep back. What happened to customer service? What happened to professionalism? I have used Yellow Cab several times when travelling to the airport. Once the driver charged me more than the quoted fare for going to the airport and I was able to get the money back by calling customer service. However, my worst experience was the day I was leaving CT and moving to CA. My pick up was at 4 am for a 6am flight and I was already exhausted and emotional with the move. The driver starting yelling at me from the instant I got in the car about paying by credit card and not cash. He said" Don't you know how to use an ATM??" He went off about how they incur fees if the passenger pays by credit card. It's as if he was being personally charged. Then as he was speeding down I-91 at 80 miles an hour he asks me to swipe my credit card in the machine which requires me to get out of my seat to sign. My friends and I went to the Octoberfest beer festival at the Mark Twain house. When the event was over we called for a cab to take us to my apt and they told us it would be 5-20 minutes. We waited for an hour and a half and called 3 times before we made our drunken decision that we should walk. We walked about a mile and a half, drunk, through Hartford in the middle of the night. I would call back and speak to the same operator and they would tell me that they are on the way... but they never came and they never called. What a nightmare! I made a reservation 6 days ahead to get my husband to the train station and scheduled pickup for 6:45 am. When no one was here by 6:50, I called to see if there was a problem. My husband finally left in our car (now I need to find someone to drive me to the train station to pick up the car since he's not coming back through the train station... that was the whole reason for the cab). I spent the next 20 minutes trying to find out what happened... At first they couldn't find the reservation at all, then they said they had the wrong pick up address, then finally they told me they were "delayed". I asked why we weren't notified of the "delay" since we had a 6:45 am reservation. I was then told that they "don't take reservations" and "the pick up time is only an estimate". (This in spite of the big blue "Reserve Online" button on their website). At the end of it all, they made a lot of excuses, didn't resolve anything, I got no apology, and I still don't know how I'm going to get our car back from the train station. Wow, the dispatchers at this taxi company. I have never in my life experienced such blatant rudeness. I called for taxi to pick me up from my home to the doctor's office thinking nothing of it, and one of the dispatchers, a young woman, mistaken me for a prankster and hung up on me. Seriously, people still prank call cab companies? Are there 100 unexpected orders of pizza and calls to speak to a Oliver Klosoff and an Amanda Hugginkiss at Yellow Cab all day? I called back and the same dispatcher, still mistaking me for some prankster, proceeded to threaten me with police intervention if I didn't stop playing on the phone. I calmly told her that I was not some preteen prankster, that I was indeed an adult and needed a cab. She ended up transferring me to my town's police department anyway. No apologies and no sense of human decency to admit she was in the wrong. I eventually got to my destination (I was late), but the entire situation was very stressful and surreal. Now, I'm 23 years old and I admit I sound much younger than I am, but that's no reason to treat anyone like that. The fact the Yellow Cab Co has a prankster problem is not my fault and I don't appreciate having their frustrations taken out on me. I could be 8, I could be 80, but when I called a company asking for their business, I hope to be treated with some respect, especially when I'm putting my hard-earned money in their pockets. I wish I had read the reviews before relying on them to transport my children in my absence. my son called three times and was disconnected after making contact twice. Afterwards, the phone rang and no one picked up. he missed his high school homecoming. He was very disappointed! my daughter who works evenings in the Bloomfield area recently called twice and no one picked up. On the third call, dispatcher answered that reservations must be made online 24 hrs in advance. this is a horrible, unreliable, inconsistent company. However, in all fairness, she has used them successfully once! Based on the reviews and my children's experience, I'd say Bloomfield is ripe for a new taxi company to easily be successful! read more
