We were…read moreexcited to try a coal-fired pizza and stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, ordering a 14-inch meat pizza, a 14-inch vegetarian and garlic knots. Pros: * The pizza had some flavor -- better than chain restaurants * The 14-inch pizzas were closer to 20 inches in diameter Cons: * The person taking our order was sitting down, on the phone about another order, with a slice of pineapple pizza in her lap -- not the most professional first impression. * Tables were dirty; we ended up cleaning our own. * Despite only one other group being there, our first pizza took over 50 minutes, and the second came seven minutes later. The other family received some of their food after us. * We never received our garlic knots (though we were reimbursed). * Cannoli shells came from a boxed brand stored visibly behind the counter. * Parking was $20 -- not the restaurant's fault, but something to be aware of. To their credit, the cashier and owner did apologize and offered to make things right, but I couldn't hear them over a baby crying loudly in the dining area. We just asked for boxes and left to make it to a movie. Just in case the owner thinks this is a fake review (as he has accused other reviews of being), I've included a copy of our receipt and photo of the meat pizza.

The cool part is the music vibe infiltrated the booth I was at and made the experience perfect. The staff is awesome and the patrons were totally part of the experience! Super reasonable prices. Definitely do next door and digest with some great music and the best looking crowd on Main Street.

The dough is handmade with flour imported from Italy, which means it doesn't sit in your stomach like a rock. The sauce has a great tomato flavor with just the right balance of cheese. And, if you're lucky you might just get a slice of homemade NY style cheesecake. There's a full bar of beer, liquor and wine. Be sure to ask about a bubble drink! You won't be disappointed with the selection. Lastly, the owner is awesome! We've enjoyed getting to know him and love listening to his stories. BTW don't come in with an attitude. Jerks are tolerated. LOL! See you next year at NCA College Nationals!

How have I NOT left a review for Pete's Pizza before?! ‍…read more My family and I have been eating at Pete's for YEARS. When we moved away, I judged every pizza place we tried against Pete's, and honestly, nothing came close. When we moved back to the Daytona Beach area a few years ago, Pete's immediately became our go-to for pizza, sandwiches, and pretty much anything else we're craving. Pete and his staff are truly incredible. You can tell they have a genuine passion for their food and, more importantly, that they truly care about the people who walk through their doors. Pete is an absolute gem in this community, and in my opinion, Pete's Pizza is hands-down THE BEST pizza place in Daytona Beach. On this particular visit, my husband and I decided to switch things up a little. We started with the mozzarella sticks, and OH. MY. GOODNESS. The breading was perfect, it stayed right where it belonged instead of flaking off everywhere, the cheese was silky smooth, and the cheese pull literally reached across the table. I didn't even take a picture or video because I was too busy trying to devour them! I had the Italian sandwich, and it absolutely hit the spot. I'm already daydreaming about it and planning my next one. My husband ordered a calzone but asked if they could fry it instead and WOW. The crust was fried to perfection, the cheese was just right, and the flavor was seriously top-notch. We didn't even get pizza this time, which honestly made me a little sad. But that just gives us another excuse to come back...and we WILL. Again and again and again.

For about $8, I grabbed two hot cheese slices and a soda. Thin crust, flavorful sauce, gooey cheese, and that perfect crisp that practically demands the legendary New York fold before the first bite. It instantly took me back to growing up, grabbing a couple of slices for lunch, folding them in half, and enjoying every bite. Sometimes the simplest meals are the ones that bring back the best memories. Service was on point and the atmosphere reminded me of being in New York!
