We planned to make an afternoon of it since it's an hour drive to Greencastle from Indy and stopped in at Lost Hollow for some beers before stopping in at a local antique shop and then heading home. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure if they have a parking lot or not because we parked on the street. We were seated right away and our server was very sweet. It was very empty inside, just one other person sitting at the bar. Later on, a few more tables filled up with people coming in for lunch. My first beer was the Duke Lager and my husband got the Little Jeff Hefeweizen. We both really enjoyed them! Crisp and cold and refreshing. Their food menu looked really good too, but we had just eaten before coming in, so I would love to come back with friends for lunch or dinner and some beers. I ended up ordering a 2nd beer, the canned pumpkin imperial ale, and it was very rich and delicious. My husband thought it was a little too sweet, but I love pumpkin ales and loved it. The inside is spacious with lots of plants in the windows and a big stage, so I'm sure they get busy when there is live music. The bathrooms were big and very clean. They have a bid deck out front with comfortable looking patio furniture. We honestly would have sat outside even though it was a little bit chilly if it hadn't been raining. Highly recommend driving to Greencastle and supporting some of their local businesses before or after enjoying some delicious beers.

Food was really, really good. Everyone seemed happy. I'm personally not interested in alcoholic beverages, but the report back from others was they had some really good tasting brews. The fries were the best ever. Make sure to get them with whatever you order. Others in my group had burgers. I opted for the loaded fries with pork, slaw, and other ingredients. It was a HUGE serving and difficult to finish. But it was so good that I had to do it all. Bread pudding is a good one also. Give Lost Hollow a try. It's nice.

I also usually get sick like throwing up after eating the food here. Same with Hoover Hall Food as well. The overall ambiance is terrible can't hear a thing in that place. The bar is in an old historic building and the mural says the bar has been in operation for 120 years. That's a long time of weathering events such as prohibition, wars and the Great Depression. But in a small town like Brazil, you need a good bar. Inside, the bar is ancient, but tidy and comforting. I grab a seat at a high top table. Our server, Deniela, was fantastic, gave us the low down on daily specials and made a few recommendations. Water came out quickly, as did food. She checked on us regularly. I had the daily special, prime rib burrito, which was very good. The prime rib was tender and juicy. The rice was much more flavorful than the usual Tex mex rice. I loved my meal. My husband tried the breaded pork tenderloin. The breading was perfectly seasoned and the large loin was moist and tender. The bun was good, too. The hand cut chips were delicious. The bar is conveniently located close to the lake and a nice spot to visit after a day on the lake and there are many bikers that visit during or after their rides. This is what I'd considered a nice dive bar. The interior and furniture is dark wood to create the cozy lodge atmosphere. As you enter the bar to the right is a large bar and a small seating area with all tall-top seating. To the left is a large room with a pool table and some tall-top tables. Walking through the bar and to the right is a large room for live music, karoke and darts with many tables and chairs. I think the bartender said before the virus they had karoke on Friday nights with live music on Saturdays and hoped to offer that again soon. When we stopped in they had only been reopened about two weeks due to Covid-19 and was afraid the powers that be were going to force restaurants to close again soon. For that reason the owner hadn't ordered food yet just liquor/drinks. So we weren't able to try the tenderloins but we did enjoy ourselves having a variety of beers and drinks. The menu had a nice selection of typical bar food and everyone I spoke with said it was good. The bartender was extremely nice, answered many questions and made us feel welcome. She explained with the current virus conditions she wasn't sure when they'd return to live music and karoke so call ahead if that is the reason you're visiting. We will definitely be back to sample the tenderloins and a few of their other sandwiches. The owner made us feel so welcomed and was very kind. Stop in if you're in the area.
