    Breaded tenderloin. Very good.

Food was delicious. Great stop on the way to the camper for lunch. Tenderloins are hand breaded and so are the chicken fingers. Band playing on the weekends. We will definitely be back. Laid back atmosphere.

Mecca Tavern - Plate size perfectly fried tenderloin sandwich!

We drove out here to get a tenderloin sandwich, and we were not disappointed…read more The sandwich was big enough for two meals for two people. And just because it was huge, doesn't mean it was lacking anything else. It has great flavor and even after having to drive back to our trailer to eat, it held its crunch. (More about that later). The price also could not be beat. The only down side is that even though they have an outside patio, it is not accessible other than through the bar. As such we had to take the sandwich with us as we had our dog, and it was not allowed in the outside area - again because it went though the tavern, which I understand as they do serve food.

This tavern is run down but it has character. The food they're known for are the pork tenderloin and the pretzel. The pork tenderloin is massive! Three of us shared one. It was cooked to perfection. The batter had a perfect crunch. The meat was moist. The pretzel was huge! It had plenty of salt ànd butter. It was so good. Ita huge too! They offer cheese and honey mustard dipping sauces for it. Definitely tasty. I highly recommend this place of you're looking for a pork tenderloin! Beer was good and fairly cheap. I definitely would return! Don't expect fast service. It's a mom and pop running the place.

The bar is in an old historic building and the mural says the bar has been in operation for 120 years. That's a long time of weathering events such as prohibition, wars and the Great Depression. But in a small town like Brazil, you need a good bar. Inside, the bar is ancient, but tidy and comforting. I grab a seat at a high top table. Our server, Deniela, was fantastic, gave us the low down on daily specials and made a few recommendations. Water came out quickly, as did food. She checked on us regularly. I had the daily special, prime rib burrito, which was very good. The prime rib was tender and juicy. The rice was much more flavorful than the usual Tex mex rice. I loved my meal. My husband tried the breaded pork tenderloin. The breading was perfectly seasoned and the large loin was moist and tender. The bun was good, too. The hand cut chips were delicious. (I ate half his chips and could have made a meal of them.) There is street parking. I recommend a visit, but expect to be rooting for Alabama on game day. The food is delicious.

There was a live band (the reason we sought out this place) and they charge a $5/pp cover charge. Their menu is basic bar food - mozzarella sticks, burgers, poppers, fries, etc. (no wings). The burgers looked REALLY good and everyone was ordering them but we weren't hungry enough to get one. We arrived around 7:15PM and stayed until last call. We each had 4-5 beers in that time (since we had to drive out of there on back country roads) and we split an order of mozzarella sticks and our total bill was only $30! Amazing! Note: they do allow smoking, almost everyone in there was smoking, and the ventilation system didn't do much to help the air flow. At one point my eyes were burning pretty bad - but it's a dive bar and I was not expecting it to be non-smoking. It's a cool little joint and I'm glad we went!
