Second visit. Excellent food. We had the B&G's this time. If you have read any of my breakfast reviews I am a B&G snob, well I can't report YUMMY!! With a made from scratch biscuit. License plants from all of the US on the walls, fun to look at while waiting for your food. Reasonably priced. Small town goodness. Chicken and noddles was the special for this afternoon. Didn't get to try but when we left a gentleman had some, that looked delicious. Definitely will come back to try. read more

Restaurant isn't very clean. Floor in dining area doesn't appear that it gets cleaned very often. A few health food violations like scooping ice with a plastic cup and servers holding drinks by the rim of the glass. Half our order was acceptable and half just wasn't good. Although there isn't a sign telling you to sit wherever you like, the staff behind the counter noticed my entrance and gave me the okay. The restaurant has several rooms that you meander through passed the counter where you pay your bill and pick out pies "to go". As I wandered through the building (maybe 4 dining areas), I noticed a theme of using license plates from all 50 states and a lot of novelty ones. There were even some antique ones over 100 years old! It makes for an interesting way to pass time while your food is prepared. The menu has pretty standard/traditional American fare. I decided to order the Falcon Pride Burger (Go Falcons!) and a side of fries for $5! What a deal. The burger reminds me of what we used to call Pizza Burgers with a store bought bun, a burger, pizza sauce and melted cheese on top. The fries arrived unsalted and plentiful, but each table has its own salt and pepper shakers with ketchup brought out as well. The burger was pretty good. Not amazing, but a nice thin burger with a change of taste from the gourmet stuff I've been eating in Indy. The star of the show was the Gooseberry Pie that I got for later. I grew eating gooseberries at my grandfather's house, so it was a bit nostalgic for me. Gooseberries are round green berries with light vertical stripes. They have a little stem area on top that reminds me of Christmas ornaments. And the crust of the pie was snatched away by my wife when I offered a bite. Really good. We stopped here for lunch. It's definitely off of the beaten path but worth the trip. Many different daily pie selections. Seriously. So much pie. They also had two cobbler options when we went. The catfish sandwich was fantastic. Super fresh. My husband had the pulled pork. Great options for kids meals. Several different options for sides. This is our first time here since they reopened. We were a little worried that it would not be as good as it was before. I ordered the spaghetti special and it was great. The portion size was huge. Most people were taking home leftovers but you know that old saying, 'I can't believe I ate the whole thing.' The sauce reminded me of a restaurant I used to eat at when I was a little boy. My wife ordered the grilled tenderloin and an order of fried mushrooms. Both items were cooked perfectly and the portion size was more than she could finish, so naturally I had to come to her rescue. I almost forgot to mention that we arrived just a few minutes before closing time, and they were so gracious and insisted we stay and enjoy ourselves. I come to the area for work fairly often. By happy accident my normal lunch place was closed and this place was nearby. The portions are generous. The price is right but more importantly the food is fantastic. It's always nice to eat home cooking on the road. Oh! Get a slice of the homemade pie! read more

We went last evening on a Saturday night with a couple of friends for dinner. The special was chicken and noodles and several fish dishes. Our friend had the chicken and noodles and we had pork chops. The noodles were bright yellow as if made from a powdered chicken base. Maybe a bite of chicken mixed in. Our chops we're end cuts and very dry. Ordered Texas toast and it was plain toast, not grilled as expected. We all got dessert and the pies were average. Crusts all appeared to be frozen quality but fillings were good. Service was mixed. We waited awhile after ordering put pie but was waited on right away for our dinners. We won't go back. The menu was very plain food. The waiter told me the chicken was pre packaged when I asked about it. No steaks or anything fancy. The Covered Bridge Restaurant is located in a little burg practically in the middle of nowhere so we decided to go there as a mini road trip after seeing it on facebook. It lives up to the good ratings posted here. When you enter the front door one of the first things you pass is the pie case which holds several different kinds of homemade pies. Now, I am one of those people who never, ever have dessert in a restaurant but I knew immediately that I had to have one of those! I had a patty melt and my husband had a tenderloin, both of which were very good. The place was clean, service was good and the prices reasonable. Due to distance, I probably won't go back but if I lived in the area I certainly would and I recommend it to others. I might add that the piece of chocolate peanut butter pie I had was outstanding! read more

Have Google will travel. I was on my home and I always look for out of the ordinary places. This little neighborhood gem in a very small town. It is a nice clean resturant with good food at reasonable prices. It started out as a gas station and in 1995 they converted it to a resturant. Since then they have had a few additions. It has a very old Red Covered Bridge right behind it, thus the name. Waitress was very good and very nice. I had a pork tenderloin sandwich that was good and a very good side salad. They are known for their pie so save room. Many to chose from. Glad I stopped. read more

Can't believe this great country restaurant has not been reviewed. I've only eaten lunch here on about five occasions. The lunch specials are top notch hoosier comfort food. Best Chicken Liver's on the planet. Old style Ham and beans with cornbread also top notch. At least 10 types of homemade pie daily. I had warm red rasberry pie alamode last trip. It was very good. If you are looking for an old style country restaurant, look no further. read more
