I've dined at several other Saltgrass locations, so I was happy to find a location here in Danville while driving through Illinois on a trip for work. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Monday evening. I was dining by myself, and when I entered the hostess asked if I had a reservation. I was surprised, because the restaurant was nearly empty. I said I didn't have a reservation and asked if I needed one. She told me no, but added that since I was dining alone maybe I could sit at the bar. I wasn't planning to drink since I was traveling for work, but when she suggested for a second time that I might like to sit at the bar "since I was dining alone " I said that would be ok. I travel frequently for work and often dine in restaurants by myself, and I've never had anyone think it unusual. The bar area was completely empty, not a single customer at the bar or any of the tables in the bar area. A very slow night. I ordered salmon and a baked potato, both were excellent. I love Saltgrass salmon, and it is usually what I have ordered at all the Saltgrass locations I have visited. The potato was perfectly baked and served with butter, sour cream, and green onion, just as I had ordered. I'll be happy to visit this location again when driving through this area. There really aren't many good dinner options along my route so I am glad Saltgrass is here. read more

The food was good that they had available but when you've spent months bragging about Saltgrass it better be! They had forgot to cook mash potatoes & two people were having the Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes that's embarrassing! It took 15-20 minutes to get their speciality drink Tito's Texas Tea! I had out of town guest from Georgia come in with better expectations than we forgot to make potatoes! They have a limited menu anyway so that's kinda a fail! Wow!! Had an amazing date night on 11/09/2025!! Just amazing, the atmosphere walking in was pleasant and light. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The appetizer, entree' and drinks were fantastic. The Range Rattlers were to die for, awesome sauce to the max. We both got the Texas T-Bone, one with Urban Cowboy Topping and the other with the Oscar Topping and the Loaded Baked Potato. It was very succulent and juicy and very tasty. I can say that I've been telling everyone about our date night and how we recommend everyone going to Saltgrass. Unfortunately Texas Roadhouse was completely booked with an 80 minute wait time, which made us go to Saltgrass the next day and it was worth us missing Texas Roadhouse to find our new Steakhouse at Saltgrass. We came on a slower night and the reviews did not do justice. The staff was quick and friendly. The drinks and food came out fast. The side salad was average but the wedge was very good. The country fried steak was well seasoned and cooked just right. Prices were a little higher than I would expect for the quality and location but definitely the best place for 30 miles. read more

We went in when they opened because we needed to come to town for a city meeting and stopped to eat here because I haven't been to one since leaving Texas. When we got there we ordered an appetizer and were told they were making them and they wouldn't be ready for at least an hour. Why open your doors if you don't have everything ready. It's embarrassing and shouldn't be the standard of service. The food was mediocre at best and we definitely will not be back. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Steaks taste good, but aren't a thick cut by any means. Every suggested item by the server will add cost to your bill. Entree doesn't include a dinner salad. Expect a $100 bill dinner for two. read more

9/13/25. I ordered 9oz filet, was served a sirloin. I have years of meat cutting/restaurant experience and can with all certainty tell the difference. Mistakes happen, and I graciously agreed to accept the meal and just have the price adjusted to that of the sirloin. after the front of house representative agreed it looked to be a sirloin and to the price adjustment, the back of house supervisor disagreed and I was charged for a filet. Ohhh wee this food be good in the nayberhood you feel me? The only reesin im givin 4 starz is becuz the servus is kinda crap but the food be deleeshus. Just make sure to get the stakes medium cuz if you do medium rare it gonna be redder than lipstick. Plus you can gamble 2 feet away. My girl plays the machines but I like blackjack cuz thats for gentlemin. The service was terrible. The restaurant had very few patrons, and we hardly saw our server. We had to ask other servers for drink refills, to which we were told they would get our server. Which took some time. Our server was unfamiliar with the menu items. The food was average at best, and came to us cold. We just ate it because we agreed that sending it back would take way too long to be worth it. The price point was higher than average for the area, and much higher for the quality of food and service they offer. The restaurant is new and very nice inside. I have eaten at Saltgrass before in Texas, and it was a great experience. Sad, but this location probably won't make it here. Pretty much everybody parrots my experience. It's really the only chain steakhouse within 45 minutes, and with this monopoly, there is no reason why they couldn't be packed every night. I was looking forward to their opening, but will probably not go back. It actually makes the 45 minute drive to a competitor not seem so bad anymore for a good steak with good service. read more

My family came here for my moms birthday. She ordered her steak very well done and both times it came back from the kitchen it was pink. I had the fried shrimp. The shrimp was mushy and so incredibly spicy. I had one piece and ended up drinking my whole cup of water. The broccoli tasted like artificial butter. My mom then had the carrot cake for dessert and couldn't even finish because it was tasteless. I give this restaurant two stars for the server only. Gypsy was great and very understanding! read more

We visited the casino and planned to eat dinner here after. It was a great choice! We did not have reservations but they seated us at a table in the bar, the waitress/ bar tender got our drinks and order quickly and checked in. The food was better than we expected! Ate here a few times and always had a good experience with service and the taste of the food.my family took me there for Father's Day and I had great service but the food and drink were absolutely horrible. My daughter ordered the Mac and cheese and she took one bite and spit it out. She said was sour. I tried it and it tasted like spoiled milk. I got the country fried steak as well as my wife and son. We all took a bite and spit it out. I think some accidentally dumped a tub of salt on ours. The manger came out and apologized and gave my daughter a free sundae. He also took the Mac and cheese off the bill. I will just stick to the Ribeye. Again nicest host, fantastic sever but the food was horrible. read more

Mixed experiences with this place. First trip was for dinner. Steaks were perfect, salmon was well cooked, service was attentive and efficient. Second trip was for brunch. They were clearly understaffed, out of some of the entree options on the menu, the wait for service was prohibitive to ordering seconds on anything despite the fact the entire price of brunch is based on "all you can eat". Pretty darn good. Expensive though. Food is great and I always leave full. My favorites include the Salmon Oscar and chicken fried steak.
