I can't believe it's taken this long for me to write a review about my fav restaurant in CU. I…read moreabsolutely love this place, I have never had something I didn't love here but one of my new favorites are the yellow fin nachos! Omg they were so amazing, fresh and flavorful! Also our waitress was seriously nice and attentive we never needed for anything! I seriously cannot recommend this place enough!

We stopped into Sun Singer for a lunch break during a business trip, and it ended up being one of…read morethe highlights of our time in the area. It's a wonderfully unique space--part wine and spirits shop, part lively daytime dining room--with a steady flow of customers browsing bottles alongside a full bar and tables occupied by ladies who lunch and retirees enjoying a relaxed weekday afternoon. It is a surprisingly chic space for Champaign. The dining room was busy enough that there would have been a wait for a table, but we were perfectly happy at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly and welcoming, even while clearly managing a high volume of guests in what felt like a short-staffed moment. Despite that, service remained warm and attentive. We shared the traditional fondue, which was generously portioned and stayed hot for an impressively long time thanks to their setup--ideal for lingering over conversation. We both enjoyed wine pairings, and I especially loved the Winter Warmer Knob Creek cider: cozy, well-balanced, and a standout choice, particularly for anyone who appreciates Knob Creek. Sun Singer has an excellent atmosphere--social, distinctive, and effortlessly inviting. I very much look forward to returning the next time we're back in the area.

Very spacious typical American tavern!…read more We tried more of the not typical American items and it was slightly a miss. I think if I came back I would definitely lean into the typical American stuff because that's probably what they do best (the fries looked really yummy on other people's plates) Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche - this was an appetizer specials that I really enjoyed and highly recommend. Every bite was refreshing! Korean Salmon - Salmon was cooked well and the crust was nice and crispy. Something was just off about the flavor -- the sauce was too salty. Surf and Turf Tacos - decent tacos, would consider getting again Overall in the pricer side but it is a nicer sit down restaurant in Champaign. Comes with free popcorn sampler at the beginning of the meal! The servers were every kind. They unfortunately cannot accept visa gift cards too

We went on a Friday afternoon, and there were people in there, but still quiet, which was nice. We sat at the bar, and our server was helpful and checked us without being overbearing. The menu selection is great - not too small, not too big. Wines from different US locations, but also France, Italy, etc., so a nice option for everyone. They also had a board with special limited releases. We each had our own glass of wine and shared a third to try 3 different wines. Their prices are super reasonable, and they have quality selections. We also ordered some cheese to snack on. Delicious charcuterie options, as well as some other items like The Rock's hummus - yum! This is such a gem for the area. You can also take items home and shop from their storefront. Nice staff and a thoughtful menu. We will be back next time we are in town!

Got our drinking on at this Normal wine bar. It happens to be located close to the ISU campus…read more Stave doesn't get many students. Mostly because they're elsewhere slamming bad beers and Jell-O shots probably. That leaves more room for us here though. Choosing was made easier by the limited choices. It's got a wine list with only a few each of reds and whites, with quite a few California ones. They have some Italian ones too. Good prices for a glass. It's about $9 for a glass of the Sandhi. Basically this is a Chardonnay from the Central Coast. The Central Coast of California that is. It's about $2 for munchies such as apricots. They also have charcuterie boards with cheeses and meats. For sure it's a chill place compared to other bars on campus. It's open from the afternoons to the evenings. They're closed Sundays.
