They added a $36 charge for our party of 6 for my birthday since it was on one bill. I wonder what they do if everyone had paid their own bill? The real killer was that we were charged for a Tiramisu dessert ($12) that was NOT ordered, but was brought to the table and refused by all of us and returned to the kitchen. I visited Silvercreek for the first time today, having lunch. At noon, on a Tuesday, the restaurant was already half full. My server was pleasant and friendly. The hostess was nice as well. The building is amazing. It gets 5 stars. The wood interior is beautiful, built from White Mountain Ash. I kept seeing great holiday parties in my mind with lit Christmas trees. Beautiful items like an antique clock adorn the walls. The outside patio looks inviting too, although it is not in use right now. The restaurant sits next to the creek with migrating geese stopping by for a drink. The location is enchanting. I started with a cup of tomato basil soup. The basil flavoring was nice and the soup good. The cup serving was a little small. I'd get a bowl next time. Next I ordered the Power Bowl which came with red quinoa and farro, roasted and steamed vegetables like squash, spinach, zucchini, broccoli etc in a pesto sauce. The recipe concept is excellent, however my grains were cold and the veggies bordered on mushy. The pesto sauce was flavorful. Overall, I'd give the food 3 stars. I think they can do better. Upscale American restaurant with a homey feel. The food was delicious and competently prepared. I ordered the grilled trout, which came with sautéed green beans and roasted potatoes. The potatoes were impressively tender and just-browned on the edges, although under-seasoned. The trout was flaky in most of the cut but dried out at the edges. The pineapple salsa served with the fish helped, although there was some freshness to be desired. The items were indeed tasty -- the smoky char on the fish carried the other elements -- if not memorable. The atmosphere is perhaps the most notable feature of the place. The wood bannisters and tables around the space have the air of an old steakhouse that cleaned up its act. As I was seated, an anonymous piano arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon was piped into the room. The restaurant goes out of its way to cultivate a dual sense of class and nostalgia. Such a beautiful area to have a more upscale meal at! The creek is right there, they have a gorgeous greenhouse and gazebo, and parking was easy peasy. Reservations are available, and service is wonderful. Menu has vegetarian, seafood, and red meat options, so everyone can enjoy. Kids menu is also available! Went for brunch after church.After we were seated we found out, they only do brunch now on Sunday. 49$ for adults, 21$ 4 to 12 for children, I believe. We looked at food choices and decided to stay. Unfortunately that was mistake! The food was not good! The prime rib was, slices of prime rib, that were maybe 1/4 of an inch and very well done. Turkey, had a thick cream sauce and fried chicken dry and over done. The food was not prepared well or tasty. For 150 dollars, would have expected more! Im updating my review from a 5 star to a 3 because with the new ownership, they decided to charge the 4% credit card fee to your bill. I've never seen this before in any establishment and honestly, it doesnt make you feel good as a customer when a business is not willing to take on the credit card fees and instead, make their patrons pay the amount - especially in this day and age. The waitress came by every 2 minutes asking if we were ready to order. Clearly hoping to move tables as quickly as possible. My husbands $42 ribeye was 1/2 burned 1/2 medium. I ordered a starter salad which came at the same time as my meal and my fish was drowned in a thick sauce. The food arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered it. Have been there for quite a few times. Tried different stuff each time and I would like to say without hesitation that it offers the best deal of (casual) fine dining in C-U area, considering food, price, opening time and service. It is a huge restaurant with wooden decor, having a bar, regular table, booths, outside seating, and a green house for gatherings and parties. But due to its popularity, I would suggest you to make reservations. The restaurant serves mainly new American dishes, featuring a lunch menu, dinner menu and daily specials. Below are reviews of some dishes: 1. Lobster Mac & Cheese. Medium serving size. The lobster meat was pulled and blended with the noodles. There were also lots of mushrooms. Both the meat and mushrooms are very delicious. The sauce was not super thick and works well with their free cheese bread. 2. Salmon Wellington. A pretty cool dish! A huge piece salmon with crispy crust outside. According to my server the salmon was first grilled then fried with the crust. Surprisingly it still tasted tender and fresh. Also served with perfectly grilled asparagus and mashed potato. 3. Burrata Crostini. Had lots of veggie and cheese. The burrata was rich in flavor. I also liked the green sauce at the bottom of the bread which had a good comb of saltiness and sweetness. However the bread was somehow too chewy. 4. Coconut Shrimp. Kinda disappointed with this one. I thought it was something like grilled shrimp topped with warm coconut sauce but it turned out to be fried shrimp with cold coconut sauce on the side for dipping. The fried shrimps already had a strong flavor which, combined with the thick and sweet sauce, was contradictory. 5. Grilled protabella stack. This is a 2023 Vegan Challenge dish. Basically a stack of (top to bottom) a huge mushroom cap, onion, tomato, eggplant, onion, tomato, eggplant, topped with some broccoli and tomato sauce. It was very creative and delicious! The whole dish looked like a burger but tasted more flavor than a burger! Sauce was rich and went well with the veggie. Also it was quite filling. 6. Poblano Chicken. A standard dish. Medium size. The chicken was tender. The mashed potato was rich and creamy. It had some broccoli mushroom and green beans but I hope it could have more veggie. 7. Crème brûlée. Tried it during Champaign Restaurant Week. Not crazily sweet for me, which is great to me but if you like very sweet food it may be a bit bland. I like its inside very much. The outside was transparent and hard. It tasted somehow like glass lol. 8. Tomato bisque soup. Very good! Very thick and rich. There was some blue cheese inside which added more interesting flavor to it. 9. Flank steak salad (written by my friend), Steak was perfect with medium rare but serving size could be larger. Veggies were fresh and juicy. Acocado, lettuce and crispy chips combined very well. Though the dish did not have much protein, it definitely fills your stomach and was indeed a healthy meal. 10. New Zealand Lamb (written by my friend). The lamb tasted fresh and tender, so good that I finished it in a few bites. The Tzatziki sauce on the top added more flavor. It would be my most recommended dish if there could be more lamb in the dish. 11. Turkey Brie lunch combo. Lots of food with only $17. I got a huge sandwich, some sweet potato fries, choice of side salad, a spear of pickle and a cookie whose diameter was about 20cm! The turkey brie sandwich was interesting in that it had some onion and apple blend which created a smokey-sweet flavor, and surprisingly it went well with the turkey and arugula! Goat cheese and cheese curds. Tell me why they were 16$ and we got 3 PIECES of goat cheese and maybe 8 cheese curds. I about had a heart attack. Went here for our wedding anniversary dinner and was extremely disappointed. The service was decent and the cocktails were tasty, but the food is awful. Order the burger (which is over $20), asked for medium-well and received a dry, well done burger that tasted no different than a cheap frozen patty. I took 3 bites and threw in the towel. The truffle fries were over seasoned, so the whole meal was a bust. It felt as though they were trying to cover up poor quality ingredients with tons of sugar and seasoning. My husband got the steak, which was ok but not worth the price. His sides were decent albeit greasy. For the price point I expected a lot more. A nice restaurant located at an inconspicuous in town! I ordered a BBQ burger. The flavor was not so strong, so I added a little salt in the middle because of my heavy taste. For the dessert, I ordered the first on the menu called chocolate solution cake, and it was delicious! I really like the layers above the mousse which tasted thick and can melt in my mouth, and it was not too sweet. For the service, I did wait for some time to be seated though there were just a few groups of people inside during my visit. There seemed to be no servers at the front desk, which was a little embarrassing for me to ask for help. However, the waitress was very friendly and gentle, which made my lunch experience beautiful and relaxing. Overall, it was very good. We were a group of six who went for brunch on a Saturday. It wasn't busy at that time, but not dead. Our service was pleasant and timely. I came for brunch. At first glance, the menu looks pricey. But, the food is delicious, and well worth it. I ordered the beet salad. It was tasty, fresh, flavorful, and pretty awesome. The pesto linguini looked and tasted like it was made by a chef with a lot of love for what he does. The shrimp was spiced well. The pasta was fantastically freshly made and packed with flavor, and not greasy at all. It's actually inexpensive considering the overall quality and creativity. My friends and I came on a Saturday evening, and it was quite busy. Food did not exactly meet up to my expectations. Everything was kinda bland overall, especially the sauces. Their cheese curds were the best, but aside from that, everything just didn't seem to match the prices of the food. My least favorite was the ravioli. It was my friend's birthday, so we decided to have a birthday dinner at Silvercreek. We made a reservation and we were shortly seated as soon as we checked in with the staff. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff and the cozy ambiance of the place. For appetizers, we got the stuffed mushrooms and the beef tenderloin carpaccio. The stuffed mushrooms also come with a layer of well-fried onion rings. While the stuffed mushrooms were absolutely delicious, I felt the portion size was small (comes with 4 mushrooms). I thought the beef tenderloin carpaccio was 10/10, it was light, and the amalgamation of the ingredients in this dish complimented each other very well. For entrees, we got duck confit pasta, lobster mac&cheese, and the lamb dish. First, I was very disappointed with the duck confit pasta. The presentation of the dish was not appetizing and I felt that the pasta was tasteless. Also, I felt the grapes in the pasta were not harmonious with the overall dish. The lobster mac&cheese was my favorite dish for sure. The flavors were not so overpowering, but just the right amount of cheesiness and butteriness. There were also a very generous amount of lobster bits. We also got the lamb dish cooked in medium-rare. The dish was cooked well, but it was just okay. My friend also got the birthday complimentary brownie, which looked very presentable and delicious! I recommended the chocolate cake for sure because the whipped cream that comes with the chocolate cake is heavenly. Overall, it was a good dining experience for me.
