The Rose Bowl is an icon in the dive bar, history of Urbana. The Rose Bowl is one of the few places that still offers regular live music. They have a good selection of beers and whiskeys, and a great interesting crowd for people watching. There is convenient parking, and it's a not to be missed place if you want to experience the real dive bar culture of Urbana - champaign Illinois.

Music every night outside since the pandemic, it's a great place to see live music and get a drink.

Not for everybody, but for me, It'll Do. Too. This is a dive bar located in the home of the old…read moreChief's bar. It is long, dark, has entries on both sides of the mall, and is scary as shit. This is a bar for the myspace crowd as opposed to the facebookers that inhabit most CU establishments. A word of advice: don't whip out your iPhone in here, and avoid iContact. If you are willing to go dressed down (black is the new dirty) and with the proper mindset, this place can be a ton of fun. If you are into people watching, you will see some truly delightful specimens. I wont spoil it for you, but www.peopleofwalmart.com has nothing on It'll Do Too. Try not to point and laugh; I don't want to have on my conscience the shivvin' of a fellow yelper. The bar's 'sister' is of course It'll Do, a biker bar in Tolono. The crowd on the night I went (Friday, when a harrd rawk cover band was playing) was a lot of bikers, a few pool sharks, some baby boomer groupies that would make you shudder, and a lot of good, working class folk that tend to hide from the often obnoxious student-centric bars. It was a lot of fun, and they had 20 oz drafts for $3, and cans of Bud Light and Busch Light for (I assume) $1 or so. The shots were pretty generous, (though in plastic cups unless you went top shelf) and the bartenders really efficient and friendly. They had three pool tables of average quality and above average players, the largest (physically) juke box you have ever seen, a brand-new megatouch, and at least a half-dozen of the video poker/slot machine games.
