Had great stuff at this Southern themed restaurant in Champaign. It has a lot of chicken but also…read moreplenty of vegetarian choices if avoiding meats. Watson's is one of the cleaner and shinier hangouts but it still has some campus vibes. A lot to choose from. The prices aren't bad for portion and quality. Coming in the first time it wasn't that busy. It's a lot crazier when school is in session. This has been around for a while now but it's still a pretty cleaner looking kind of place okay to bring families of students or whatever. A lot on the menu. There's shit tons of drinks and we got a few of these. It's about $5 to get a slushie which hit the spot because outside it was hot. There's a few flavors to choose from which rotate. Among the cocktails are a few that are cool looking. I got one of the seasonal specials, the Campfire Mule. This was made with ginger beer, lime, and whiskey. It's about $12 for the cheapest entrees. She got the Tofu Basket, which was big enough for a meal. This was panko breaded tofu triangles and waffle fries, with a choice of a sauce. I got the Watson's Po Boy. This comes with a choice of protein and I got tofu. Comes topped with lettuce, onions, and a choice of sauce and got it with the vegan remoulade. Great stuff. Also has plenty of choices for chicken. They got the hot style. Got to say it has lots to choose from. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. There's chicken of course but also plenty of things for vegans and vegetarians.

i am not sure what happened to this place, but ever since they expanded to more locations, this one…read morehas suffered immensely. I am here for Ebertfest and it has now taken over an hour to get drinks, food, and dessert. I am trying to flag down my server because I was worried about the amount of time it was taking. She apologized and took off the dessert, but she seemed to be the only one working. I was near the back so I got to see all the other servers "yucking" it up and just standing around while this poor lady was doing laps. I am from the service industry and only 40 so I'm not being a Karen. This server deserves a huge raise and probably a better job. Pair that with them cutting down the menu, this place went to a "must see" in Champaign to a maybe. What I ate was tasty, but the rest of Champaign has caught up and starting to leave them behind.

To describe the drinks would be impossible, but they constantly rotate craft cocktails that are still hand mixed and bartender inspired. The joy of this place are the bartenders which are outstanding. Some of the best in Champaign. They've recently expanded their snack menu and that makes it even better! They have a pretty extensive beer and wine menu, but cocktails are where they're at. Stop on by!

My biggest concern is that we have had to search for our waitress to order drinks and/or food at least twice with each visit. Food is okay, nothing too exciting. Hubers is a good neighborhood bar. There really aren't any others like it in Chambana, but they are…read morea dime a dozen in Chicago, and when they are good, they are great. Hubers is a townie bar, to be sure, but the best kind of townie bar: the staff is friendly, not surly, patient with noobs and the drinks are generous and cheap. They pour massive shots in tumbler glasses and offer big steins of domestic drafts for less than what a pint runs in Downtown Champaign. They serve food, which is stellar in its value, if not its uniqueness. Simple pub grub done well is the order of the day. They have a surprising variety of surprisingly good thin-crust personal pizzas for less than $4 and all the expected fried things. Popcorn is free and they will make more just for you. If I was serious about throwing darts, this is where I would come, as it is apparent they take it seriously at Hubers: there is an entire room dedicated solely to this and about 4 dozen trophies. There is ample parking in the rear, as well as a tiny semi-enclosed smoking area that is only a little bit less depressing than the smoking tanks at the Atlanta Airport. The decor inside is nothing special, but upon close inspection you will find echoes of the historic grocery that inhabited the structure in years past. An old-fashioned candy counter is at the front of the store and still in use. Hubers is a good place to watch sports, as while they do not have the biggest or newest TVs, they sure have a lot of them and are not shy about letting you tune in whatever suits you. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is they do not have very many of the "fancy" microbrews or imports that just about every place in Chambana stocks these days, and any that they do carry are likely old. This is a liquor and domestic beer joint. Also, like any neighborhood/townie bar, there is an alkie or two that may pass through, and this is not the place to meet chicks, or at least not he kind of chicks that you want to brag about on the Internet.
