We got to Clarksdale on Monday night and it was deserted. Not much was open but we found Yazoo Pass and had a really tasty dinner. We had mushrooms with a lemon sauce and pasta with shrimp. This may be one of those ymmv type of place. The decor is upscale, would be at home in a mall. So not like a lot of places in Clarksdale. We ordered an omelet and French toast. The omelet was excellent served with salty grits and home fries. The home fries were more like French fries. The French toast was not good and served at a cool temperature. Definitely skip that! This was an alternative to where we wanted to eat because it was closed for filming. I had a BLT which originally came with avocado ranch on it. I asked to change to mayo which I know they have because I saw the packets but instead I received a BLT with ranch on it. I don't care for ranch and certainly not on a BLT. I did my best to scrape it off but disappointed: My husband got the salad bar which was well stocked. If you want meat on the salad they charge more and give you a decent size container of whatever you choose. Dad had the chicken tenders basket and which was three good size tenders on a bed of fries. We took a trip to Mississippi to see what we could see and were delighted to find that there were tons of hidden treasures to find. Yazoo Pass was certainly a delightful gem! We stopped in for breakfast on our way out of town. It was early so it wasn't busy at all BUT the staff was lovely and tended to our every need. I settled on some french toast with a side of sausage and grabbed a couple of day old lemon blueberry cookies as well. When I say that this was the best french toast I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating. It was light, fluffy and butter on the inside but had a nice crisp crust on the outside. They were like light fluffy pancakes and absolutely delicious. The sausage was great as well! I love Yazoo Pass. There were several writers and travelers that trickled in throughout our stay and I noticed that they had several meetups and events scheduled for locals and travelers. It's like Yazoo Pass served as a watering hole. A beacon for the community and I'm in love with it. read more

My husband is from Clarksdale while I am a big city girl (New York and Houston). We were visiting this small town for the holidays and came here for lunch. What an awesome, quaint coffee shop/diner! 100 x better than any big city Starbucks! The people working were all friendly and the menu had a great variety to choose from. I chose the Pasta Fagioli soup and sandwich. My husband chose the chicken tenders and fries. The soup was better that great! It tasted so fresh! Absolutely delicious! I ordered a specialty drink called Delta Pecan Snapping Turtle...OH EM GEE this is one of the best coffee drinks I have ever had (and I consider myself a coffee connoisseur). Yahoo for Yazoo Pass! I'm positively addicted to iced espresso in the summer and figured I'd have to give that up for the steamy weekend I was in Clarksdale. Yazoo fed my fiend and fed it well. The regular order is 2 oz, so a large shot, but I got two. Cups are super large and filled with ice & soy milk= instant buzzy bliss. I didn't try any of their food, as it's not particularly vegetarian-friendly, except of course for the delish-looking baked goods and salad bar. The staff is SO nice though, that it would not surprise me if they'd make you something sans meat if you asked. Oh, but there's froyo, and a tart variety at that. Serve yourself (I served myself plenty). The toppings are more on the sweet than healthy side, which I am not really a fan of. If I'm basing this solely on coffee, service and awesome environs (it's in a refurbished Mid Century Woolworth building that's now all sparkling and modern), easy 5 stars. read more

This may be among the "best" in Clarksdale, but anywhere else in America, this is strictly 3 stars. You stand in line to order at the counter. Food gets delivered to your table. Quality is average. Portions are small-average. Prices are high. Turkey sandwich was unremarkable. Quiche Lorraine had too much cheese, and portion was small. Cup of soup as an add-on for $3.50 was way overpriced. Cookies were delicious, $1.75 ea. Note that all "juices" have added sugar, and are thus really juice drinks! Be careful going in during "dinner hour" as according to friends who dined here two nights ago, they had run out of several items on their short menu. read more

This is a lovely cafe in downtown Clarksdale. We only had drinks: coffee, smoothie, lemonade. They were all superb. Right off the bat, you know this is the "fancy" restaurant in town. It also doubles as an artsy coffeehouse and I know that if I lived in Clarksdale I'd probably spend a lot of time here. My dad and I came here for dinner and we started with the house recommended Meri's Chicken Rolls which consisted of buffalo chicken breasts wrapped in phyllo dough and served with buffalo sauce and ranch dip. My dad went with the 8 ounce filet and he was quite pleased with his choice. I opted for the shrimp and grits, and they were absolutely delicious. Savory grits are my favorite and these did not disappoint, cheesy and mildly spicy. The blackened shrimp added a perfect touch. My only complaint was that the middle of dish was a little cold, as if the grits were not heated through before serving.
