This is the real deal: excellent "down home" pit BBQ, or as they call it: "swine dining!" Blocks away you can smell the smoke of this Clarksdale institution, which serves excellent ribs, pork (sliced or chopped), and the Mississippi favorite: hot tamales. The ribs were the perfect balance of moist but held onto the bones. Sides of slaw and beans were tasty, with the vinegar slaw a perfect foil to the sweet and tangy ribs. They have an extensive menu featuring all of the typical BBQ options and sides, and they all looked good. The team at Abe's couldn't be nicer or more helpful, providing guidance on what is particularly good that day. Just be prepared to be very full when you leave, and to have a slight smokey aroma following you for the rest of the day!

Our road trip took us through Clarksdale and we stopped for a couple of Blues Highway landmarks and lunch at Abe's. The food is solid excellent and we tried the hot tamales (the favorite of the day), pork sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. Sides included the chili, baked beans, fries and slaw. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the slaw on the sandwich and it was a very tasty combination. My husband thought the pork sandwich was one of the best he's had.

This Delta barbecue landmark, located at the symbolic crossroads of Highways 61 and 49, is almost 100 years young--it never gets old stopping here to dine in or takeaway. The place can get busy but you are waiting for quality. It's laid-back and you can hang out as long as you wish. No one is rushing you out--outside tables too. As for the food, my go-to is the Big Abe--juicy balance of well smoked pork, sauce and tangy cole slaw. And recommend the onion rings over the fries. But really you can't go wrong--and take some Delta tamales with you.

    Three tamales with coleslaw

The tamales with coleslaw and crackers were delicious. My server, Lucille, was a sweetheart! The ambience was just what you would expect from this century old landmark.

Big Abe hot dog. Big Abe ham and cheese with slaw. Bbq baked beans and a plain cheeseburger. And of course chips and sauce.

Abe's is a must stop if you have never been. Food is always hot and good. Service is good Ms Lucile will take good care of you. Lots of things to look at too.

Friendly delicious place. Tamales generously heaped with chili. The chopped pit BBQ pork hit the spot. Reasonable prices and open for indoor seating. (June 2021). Bring cash; credit is +3%

So, the legends here are really quite amazing. Cash is preferred in this little down home spot. I had to try the hot tamales, very nice. The slaw is a wonderfully tart no mayo style. The sauce on the BBQ has a similar hint of tart. Yum.

Food is amazing. Service is great. Waitress was so nice and polite. Saw this place on Somebody Feed Phil. It was as good as he said. We shared three tamales with chili and cheese and a Big Abe pork sandwich. So good!!!

I have eaten here a few times. I can't say that it is not good. I think that it's just a tourist spot.

Biggest damn half rack of ribs I'd ever had. Vinegar based sauce was great. So much fun visiting this historic establishment.

I remember when Small Time Hot Dogs was a small hot dog cart that came to town (Grenada) every week. They hop around from town to town in central MS, posting their weekly schedule on their social media pages. Better catch them when in your town! I've since moved to Desoto county and can't catch them when we go back to Grenada occasionally, but I check every time. My favorite is just a regular dog with mustard, ketchup, and relish. Their hot dogs are very meaty and flavorful. I will occasionally get a southern dog. It is a must try, but a lot of meat going on!! They also have BBQ nachos that are amazing. Their tamales are the best around. Po boys are big and tasty. I'm not a lemonade fan, but I have heard they are the best around also. Oh, don't forget to get a funnel cake!

Normally when I go out for a hot dog (or in my cases two...because I am "that girl"..) it's either a really great one or it just plain sucks. In the case of Small Time Hot Dogs - it was square in the middle and thus I am conflicted. Scene: Dinner and a Movie at the Museum on 5/18. Hot dogs were being taken from the museum to about 10 minutes away so they had a bit of a drive because we thought it was going to rain and decided to just not stay there. *Taking this into account when writing this review.* Ordered: One order of plain fries Two Dogs: New York and Milwaukee with Extra mustard, kraut, add ketchup, onions and cheese to the Milwaukee New York Dog - Hot dog quality was very good. The hot dog was meaty, delicious, and plump without being hard. The quality of the meat is on point. - The bun was a standard bun. It's what you want in a food truck hot dog. My bun was super soggilicious but that is because of the kraut + drive home. - Fixings: Kraut was nearly flavorless. Mustard was nearly flavorless. Red onions were fine. Ketchup nearly non-existent. Overall: Decent dog, don't be a moron like me and travel with it because it won't travel well. It was loosely thrown together which makes for a bad doggy. When you put a hot dog together there is a structure you need to follow. This wasn't it. Milwaukee Dog - Hot dog quality was very good. The hot dog was meaty, delicious, and plump without being hard. The quality of the meat is on point. - The bun was a standard bun. It's what you want in a food truck hot dog. My bun was not a super sog but it didn't seem to hold the fixings well. - Fixings: Kraut was nearly flavorless. Mustard was nearly flavorless. Red onions were fine. Ketchup nearly non-existent. Cheese was melty. Overall: Not a good dog. Maybe I overdid it on the cheese or onions? Who knows. But for all of the elements on the dog it had no flavor - just the hot dog. Structure bad, that was about all. Fries: Good, solid french fries. Crinkle cut and delicious. Not much salt on them which makes me happy! Price: $15.00 - not bad! Consensus: Small Time Hot Dogs needs to work on some things. I'll give them another shot next time they are around because a good, solid hot dog is super hard to find. They need to work on a good structure for their dog (bun, mustard on the bottom along the center of the bun, ketchup on the sides of the dog, relish and kraut on the top of the mustard, then dog, then a drizzle of cheese (or none) and then send it on it's way. So overall... I will give them a second shot because the hot dog itself was very tasty. If you see this truck, support it and go buy some dogs. It's hard to do a food truck down here and it's even harder to find a hot dog truck down here. Support your local food truck!

It is about time it finally opened as they have been building it for over 6 months it seems like. I have been here about 3 times and I'm now ready to review it. It's really nice as everything is new including new shirts for their employees. The service was excellent as they always my orders quickly. The manager or owner even came out once gave me a refill on my drink. Now, how cool is that. menu items ordered: 1st visit; pineapple sundae. It was delicious as I really enjoyed it as it hit the right spot. 2nd visit; I got a chicken fried sandwich combo with fries and a Coke. I enjoyed this lunch as well. These sandwiches are my favorite item to order. Not because of the price but how good they are. On my 3rd visit I got a number 5 combo which was a chili cheese dog with tarot tots. This tasted great too. So far, 3 visits here and all have been 5 stars with great service and great food. Other menu items: They have burgers, hot dogs, pitas, fried chicken sandwiches, fried steak sandwiches, philly cheese steak sandwiches, chicken tenders, shrimp dinner, chicken salad, chicken tenders, catfish dinner, French fries, tator tots, onion rings, fried pickles, jalapeño peppers, funnel cake fries, and ice cream. I think my favorite item from Bumpers is their country fried steak sandwich combo that you can get for about $5.50. Bumpers has Coke products such as Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke, fMello Yello, Mr Pibb and etc. You can also get sweet tea and if you really like it, one gallon jugs are available. Other Bumper locations: There are two other Bumper locations in the area. One is in Marks, MS and the other is in Charleston, MS. There are presently 31 locations total -all of which are in Mississippi. They are are opening new locations soon. Tips: If you are coming here with a friend, you can get their "blues bag" special. This special includes 2 drinks, 2 fries, and 2 burgers all for about $10. So, take a friend to save money. Also, for the kids, they have kids meals for about $3.50 which includes a drink, fries a burger or hot dog and a blow pop.
