I have been here several times and am now ready to review. First of all, I always come here for lunch. Secondly, it's probably my second favorite choice to have lunch at. My favorite is Abes BarBQ. Customer Service: They have taken care every time with excellent service. First of all, a hostess seats me. Someone from the kitchen brings my chips and sausa. A third person, takes my order immediately. A fourth person brings my order within a 2 to 4 minutes. Also, a manager checks on me while I'm enjoying my lunch. Now how cool is that. I mean you can expect any better than that in customer service. The Mexican food is always delicious. I usually always get the lunch Special for $3.49. This includes a taco with rice and Mexican beans. It fills me up along with the chips and sausa and sweet tea. Features: It is well decorated with Mexican art over everything including the furniture. The wall art is pleasant to look at. There are several paint colors on the walls including orange, green, red, tan and other colors. This restaurant looks like it used to be a Shoneys restaurant at one time if you ask me. It's convenient to get into and out of. read more

Friendly service. I usually always enjoy my food when we go. the atmosphere is really about the same as any Mexican restaurant.

Atzimba was quite the little surprise on a recent visit to Clarksdale! There are not a ton of dining options in Clarksdale, and I believe Atzimba is the only Mexican restaurant (ie, not a tamale joint), so it's not like they have to worry about competition and yet... truth be told, it's on par with Mexican I've had in New Orleans, where there actually *is* a lot of competition! That's not to say you're going to get mind-blowing burritos or anything, but it's certainly decent. And my god, CHEAP. I appreciated the little vegetarian section, which I didn't really expect. I figured I'd just order quesadillas sans meat, but no, there was quite the selection of combo plates. I opted for one that had a guac tostada, enchilada and taco. The guac is fantastico! I'm not a huge fan of jack and cheddar cheeses, and there is plenty of it on this plate (the cheese is so mild you can barely taste it). Portions are huge and unless you're starvin' marvin, figure on needing to be rolled outta there if you clean your plate (really, I dare you to even try to clean that plate). I'll come clean: I couldn't resist ordering a piña colada and man, as artificial as they come (reminded me immediately of the daiquiri I had from a NOLA daiquiri stand the night before). You're better off on getting a margarita. Trust!! Plenty of tequila in that baby. On a final note, what attentive service! Whether our water, chips or salsa needed refilling, they were *on it* before we even asked. Food came out lickety split, too (and trust me, we were needing it fast). read more

Came here because we were hungry and most other restaurants in town were closed on Sunday. Were pleasantly surprised. We were immediately greeted and seated. Decor is colorful and seating was comfortable. Our server, Gregorio, was friendly, attentive and efficient and made our dining experience even better. He brought out the chips and salsa and I liked that they brought us a carafe of salsa so we could fill our salsa bowl a few times instead of asking the server to bring more. We started off with margaritas, which were very refreshing. Also got the guacamole dip which was very tasty. We decided on the enchilada ranchera entree, the smothered burrito (degollado) and the combination plate with an enchilada, chalupa and taco. We eat there every day when we are in Clarksdale. We can't get enough of this authentic Mexican food. The chips are super thin and crispy. Every dish that we have had were served quickly and hot. The service is like fine dining. Multiple servers check to make sure you have anything you need. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

The take out I ordered was very disappointing. Taco Bell would have been a better choice. The tamales are mostly masa with an unappetizing meat sauce. The Mexican pizza was a single serving pepperoni pizza. Upon complaint when I opened these at home; especially why would a menu item be described Mexican when it was pepperoni; the manager was quite rude. He informed me they had been open for 21 years and when I opened my own restaurant; I could call it anything I wanted. When I said the restaurant would get a bad review he stated he couldn't care less. read more

This mexican restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Were from Miami and have been to many Mexican restaurants, in my time, as i simply love Mexican food. There are only 2 places i would comfortably say are worth eating at. This is one of them. From the start we were greeted with a smile. The food was excellent, atmosphere was authentic. A family restaurant for sure. These people know how to run a restaurant. Next time were back tbis wzy we will come back here without question. A diamond in the rough. Prices were great as well. Arrived hungry in Clarksdale on a Monday night, not many options other than the clown, the sailor or the colonel. Found Atzimba on Yelp and our evening was saved. They were just about to close but graciously invited us in. Our outstanding waiter Miguel suggested the house special combo fajitas. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked, quite delicious! Even though it was clear they all were ready to pack up and go home, Miguel assured us that we should take our time and really made us feel comfortable and not rushed. Bottom line: the food was good (the rice and beans and guac sides were just OK). The atmosphere and decor is very authentic with Mexican music playing in the background. 4 stars for the food, 5 stars for service and atmosphere. read more

Enjoyed 3 great meals while my church group was in Clarksdale this week. The staff was incredibly eager to accommodate our large group and we were super pleased with the food. With an average of 75-80 people in our group we can really change a restaurant's evening and these folks didn't miss a beat. I have never seen a harder working bunch of people and the food was always good. Not a lot of options in this small and rather depressed community but this was a great one for us!! read more

Actually the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We had a burger and Chimmi Chunga, I don't even know where they buy food that ends up tasting this bad. Absolutely ridiculous, I can say for sure that I will never, ever be back. I don't know if people don't know any better or what, but I don't understand anyone who would go there twice. read more

This restaurant has excellent food & drinks. The service is well above average. We've been going here for about 14 years, making the 45 min drive each way with a smile on our faces! We are talking about CONSISTENTLY EXCELLENT food, drinks & service. In a matter of a couple of visits (about once a week at first) the waiters remember our favorite drinks. Within a month or two they remembered our names. They've never forgotten!! You'll be glad you gave them a try! Very reasonably priced, too! They recently redecorated and its beautiful. read more

This place is okay. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it contained too much cheese; sounds strange for a chicken quesadilla is in effect fried cheese, but the cheese was salty and strong. The guac was good, I have to admit - and it had a nice bite to it as I continued taking bite after bite. Okay atmosphere, not very clean bathrooms, and okay staff. read more
