Wagyu Beef Puff

Oh my gosh, I died. The food here was so so so good!!! I was skeptical when I realized that the servers don't push carts around, don't speak Chinese, and speak perfect English, but I was absolutely blown away by the food. My friends and I devoured the: Foie Gras Taro Croquette: taro croquettes are one of my go-tos and the ones here were excellent! Delicious flavor and stuffed with taro. Couldn't really taste the foie gras though... Scallop Shui Mai: scallop isn't what I usually have in shui mai, and I found this to be a little too scallopy, but it was nice and delicate. Chicken Shui Mai: nice, light flavor without feeling too heavy. Wasn't a particular standout, but always a solid choice. Spicy Pork Szechuan Wonton: great kick, delicious flavors. Shrimp Fried Rice: a little bland for my taste, but went well with the spicy wonton sauce. Char Siu Bun: solid BBQ pork. Similar to the Chicken Shui Mai, this wasn't above and beyond other Char Siu Buns, but I like eating these and equally enjoyed the one here. King Crab Shanghai Siew Long Bun with Pork: deliciously soupy and stuffed with pork. Be careful lifting them as a bunch of us had some problem removing them from the steamer without ripping them. Har Gau: oh my gosh, yum! Beautifully folded and steamed, with the perfect amount of shrimp flavor seeping through. I loved these! Pan Fried Turnip Cake: I usually don't like turnip cake, but the ones here were incredible. They seem to go lighter on the oil and mix in lots of chives for more flavor. Char Siu Cheung Fun: pretty hearty. I'm used to getting these with shrimp and thought these were tasty, but the pork was a tad dry. Wagyu Beef Puff: the pastry dough was excellent and the beef was well-cooked. Selection of Ice Cream: so good. This was exactly what I wanted after all that food. But then again, I always want ice cream. The Earl Grey flavor was particularly good. Service was solid. The prices are high, but worth it. Definitely keep Yauatcha in mind for a treat yourself day.

Beautiful display of treats. The unfriendliness of the manager/hostesss was not beautiful. Strangely unwelcoming restaurant.

Wow can we say gong show? Service here was a hot mess! They got the orders wrong repeatedly and the service was terrible. If you're gonna serve elevated Chinese food with prices to match, you need to elevate your service! The food was quite good and beautifully presented! The prices were reasonable but the service, so terrible we will not return. Ever.

Honestly SO hard to find the entrance of this location. We kept looking for a path upstairs since the restaurant appears to be on the 3rd level of the terrace, but there is a location on the 2nd level that you need to walk into. We got the Taste of Yauatcha course, which was £19/person, more affordable than most of the other specialty courses/a la carte. I'm lactose intolerant, and the servers were super kind to help and make substitutions for any of the dishes that had dairy. Their substitutions were definitely up to par. Overall we were very happy with the menu selection (except for not having xiaolongbao), and ended up ordering two more items a la carte. We got the char siu bun and scallop shui mai. We thought that the char siu buns were more flavorful and a better deal than the scallop shui mai, but enjoyed both. We finished our course with a selection of four macarons, which were very delicious. We ended up eating there for ~2 hours, which is probably a bit longer than usual. The restaurant was completely empty at 6pm, and almost all full around 7:30-8pm on a Tuesday.

Wonderful Dim Sum in a lively, modern space. The restaurant was a little difficult to find and I needed to take an elevator to finally get to the restaurant. I'd imagine it's easier to find during the day. The dim sum is good, not the best I've had but it definitely satisfies my cravings. The drinks were also wonderful and creative. The desserts were amazing and beautifully presented. The service was also fast despite the restaurant being crowded.

Having been to Yauatcha in Soho, I had extra high hopes for Yauatcha City and I was not disappointed. The service here was excellent and the food sublime.  The menu is the same as in Yauatcha Soho. Having come here after just having had an unsatiating dinner nearby, I only ordered one savoury dim sum dish and one dessert. I had the king crab and pork dumplings 'Siew Long Bao', which were served piping hot, satisfyingly soft and with plenty of the meaty juice within the dumpling. As soon as you order something from the A La Carte Menu they also automatically serve you with a side of pickled cucumber (which I find very tasty) plus generous dishes of chilli oil and chilli sauce. The dessert I had was the 'Citrus Tart' - which may be a seemingly ordinary name but the dessert sure was exquisite to the very last bite. Here was a combination of a hint of grapefruit with lemon flavoured creamy filling encased within a perfectly sturdy yet melt-in-the-mouth crumbly pastry with a citrus layer on top as well as pieces of grapefruit and the Yauatcha signature. This was accompanied with a small dollop of beautifully oval shaped and subtly grapefruit flavoured ice cream, alongside a citrus sauce. Another feature I have come to appreciate is that here you can ask for tap water or hot water and they will happily provide it to you with my hot water being served in a proper tea set. It is worth noting that there is a significant difference in ambience between Yauatcha Soho and Yauatcha City with Yauatcha City having more seating and a more spacious layout giving rise to a more relaxed and open atmosphere in contrast with the more vibrant, noisy and twilight feel of Yauatcha Soho. Having been blessed enough to taste three different Yauatcha desserts in my lifetime, one thing is blatantly apparent to me, that heaven itself would not be complete unless it has Yauatcha dessert. It gives me great pleasure to know that Yauatcha City is available as another outlet for Yauatcha's brilliant food and dessert.

I normally order a la carte from Yauatcha Soho so I was a bit sceptical about Yauatcha City's £25 for 9 courses + cocktail deal. All 8 bite sized treats were just as good though with delicately thin wraps and juicy fillings. We ended with 4 macaroons to share between the 2 of us. Surprisingly the popcorn one turned out to be my favourite! Yes Yauatcha is pricey and you can find similar dishes for cheaper around London but when dim sum goes wrong it goes really wrong and at Yauatcha you're guaranteed the best dim sum in London. And also some pretty incredible desserts. Oh and some awesome cocktails. It's the whole package really (but Yauatcha soho is defo the better of the two)

Dim Sum, Congee, Vegetable Main dish with Aubergine

Nice location, quiet in the middle of the city. And with nice music sitting in the shadow on a sunny day. The selection was nice, the food delicious and the drinks looked very nice. Ww were not hungry enough for their lunch menu so we chose a selection of dim sum, a soup and a main dish. And all was very delicious. A great spot for a sunny afternoon or a nice evening to celebrate special occasions or just because. Not for every budget but very delicious.

Yauatcha City. One of the places for dim sum I had always wanted to go to for many a time. The fact they had a lunchtime deal sealed it for me. An epic array of courses and drinks included as part of 'Supreme Saturday's'. Supreme Saturday's always start with a cocktail or two. Lychee and Thea martini's to be precise. Great! Fried Dim Sum platter: * lobster roll * sesame prawn toast * mushroom spring roll * venison puff Fantastic especially the famous venison puff. Steamed Dim Sum platter: * pork & prawn shui mai * har gau * wagyu beef dumpling * vegetable & truffle wrap * wild mushroom dumpling * crystal dumpling wrap w/ pumpkin & pine nut All fantastic. Top two being stand outs. Half a bottle of wine each which we asked for at our half time of courses. Don't mind if I do. Fois Gras diced beef was goooooooood. Good portion. Chinese vegetables given on the side of course. Necessary accompaniment. And it keeps on coming. Lobster vermicelli pot was nice but not meaty enough and difficult to pick at. The Truffle pork rib is very good. I always choose something refreshing like mango for dessert if possible. Beautifully delicate. Epic 2 hour+ finished with a post meal Amaretto Sour as part of 'Supreme Saturday's'. All of this at great value for about £55 with service charge with the quality been provided. All listed for one person too bar sharing mains. More than enough and filling with loads of drinks! They didn't rush us either so stayed past allotted table time. It's very spacious there so easy to chat with others on own table. Everyone agreed this was a perfect birthday meal/treat and we were so full with food.

Nice ambience and good food. It's probably over priced for what it is (you can go to a good dim sum/yum cha with just as good food). But that said the atmosphere is good and it's s great venue for a work lunch. Cocktails are great, food is tasty, service is fantastic. And I can't help but always buy deserts to take back too!

I booked in for the 9 course taster menu at Yauatcha and was really looking forward to it. Sadly I felt a little bit let down by the whole experience. The main issue I had was the feeling that they were trying to rush the service to get through as many covers as possible even though each reservation should be for 2 hours. The next course was literally placed down as the preceding dish was taken away. That is definitely not conducive to an enjoyable experience. The food itself was ok. The prawn dumplings and macaroons were the stand out highlights and the last course of prawn and beancurd cheung fun was not enjoyed by anyone at my table. The rest of the food was so so. Definitely nowhere near the standard od dim sum that you can find elsewhere in London. The tasting menu is actually very close to A Taste Of Yauatcha and this is definitely all you will get so don't go on an empty stomach

The La Mian Stall is an institution and long time resident at the the sunday market at Brick Lane…read more To find them, they are near the top of brick lane market, right underneath the underpass, closer to Shoreditch High Street Station than Aldgate East. Sundays only from some time in the morning until 5pm when the market shuts down. What you will find is a little taste of Asia in the best possible way. Hand-stretched flour noodles (la-mian) made right there before your very eyes, boiled, then served in the broth and meat accompaniments of your choosing. I had one with minced pork and 'special sauce' (who doesn't like special sauce?) and it was really good. The noodles were (obviously) really fresh, the broth was decent, and the pork bits salty and flavourful. AND all for about £5 a bowl. They also have chicken, roast pork, chilli tripe, and all kinds of available versions in addtion to some wok-fried items and really tasty dim sum. The only dim sum I tried was char siew bao, and it was legit (£1.50 for two). Plus they have a plastic table-clothed table for a few people (can maybe fit about 8 or so people) and some cheap plastic stools to sit on, so it is one of the few places along the brick lane market where you can actually sit down to eat. So authentic in its practicality and function that it makes me smile. This is also a great stall because you can stare at the guy making noodles, which is a fun show in itself. He's got skills.

** IMPORTANT NOTE: I think these guys go on holidays for 3-4 months at the beginning of the year,…read moreso don't freak out like I did when I kept visiting Brick Lane every Sunday hoping to catch them! Hopefully they'll be back soon :( ** I've been extremely picky about Chinese food since arriving in London, but luckily, this little La Mian stall under the bridge at Brick Lane has got it right! Fresh hand pulled noodles (la mian), swimming in a bowl of broth with your choice of roast duck, chicken, minced pork, and a few other variations. They also serve up other small dim sum items, such as pork buns, shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork dumplings (shiu mai), spring rolls, etc. I've tried their roast chicken leg, which is very good. The broth that they use is a mixture of soy, chicken (possibly beef) bouillon stock powder, plus a few other things. I think the broth could be better, but for the quantity I get, and by London standards - there's not much else to complain about! I've also had their tan tan noodles, which came with 5 or 6 pork shu mai. The shu mai was alright, I don't think they make this, and it was in a spicy peanutty soup. I've had proper tan tan noodles before, and this kind of missed the mark. Tasty in general, yes.. but doesn't really resonate a true bowl of tan tan noodles. i think I'm just gonna stick with normal noodles in a basic broth + meat! As for seating, there's a little table with a few small stools, but good luck getting a seat unless you're on your own! There's also a huge jar of chili oil on the table too, so don't forget to drizzle some over your noodles before taking off. The cost is very reasonable, especially for the quantity that you get. I think it runs you anywhere from £5.50-£7 per bowl, and even though they don't look THAT big - don't let it deceive you, as you will literally have to roll away. In Chinatown, a crappy bowl of noodles will cost you about £6, plus their "discretionary" (translation: mandatory) service charge. However, be prepared to wait for your food! Its awesome watching the noodle man do his thang, but with everyone standing around watching, its hard to figure out where to queue, and if people are even waiting in the queue. I believe this is a 2-man show, and while I get that they are popular and I'm sure they're popping out as many orders as they can - we waited 45 minutes for 4 bowls of noodles, which is a bit ridiculous. I think if they had a 3rd person in there, it would really speed things up. In any case though, if you have a lazy Sunday, get in line :)

Chef Daren Liew who was previously an executive sous chef with the Hakkasan Group has definitely brought an elevated version of authentic cantonese food to the London restaurant scene. I came here for dinner a few days ago. At dinner they serve a trio of dim sum (dim sum symphony) with other classic cantonese dishes while at lunch it's a full dim sum menu. We ordered: - Peking duck: Traditionally not a dish in the cantonese cuisine, I hesitated to order Peking duck at a Cantonese restaurant as it's usually cooked in cantonese roast duck style rather than real Beijing style. To my surprise, this the best Peking duck I've had outside of China. The duck is carved right in front of you (only took a few minutes) in two ways: crispy skin only and meat with skin, just like how it's served in Beijing. On the side, there are traditional dipping sauce and toppings (shards of green onion, cucumber) and a few more creative toppings (pomelo pulp, peanut sauce, etc). I ate the skin with sugar first, it was perfectly crispy and extremely satisfying. We devoured the rest of the duck by making little duck wraps and the only regret was that we only ordered the half duck rather than the whole! - Dim sum symphony: beautifully presented trio of dumplings with prawn, lobster and crab fillings. They looked delicate but was full of flavours. - Baby bok choy: to balance the meal with a bit of green, we ordered sautéed baby bok choy with garlic. It was fresh and tasty. - Seafood vermicelli: this is the only disappointment of the meal (hence minus 1 star). I love vermicelli, but the noodle we had was simply too dry that we couldn't even finish the plate. Overall I am a big fan of this place and the peking duck in particular. The service was friendly and efficient, and the environment is very elegant. I'd definitely come back to have a whole duck next time!
