Their dim sum here reminded me of home (: I felt that their dishes possessed the authentic Cantonese flavors and I had a great overall experience. I really enjoyed how their shrimp across various dim sums including the har gow 虾饺 and rice rolls 肠粉 were jumbo and juicy. Their other pastries were pretty solid, especially their taro ones 芋角. Its hard to find these in Hong Kong now but I love how theirs were super super crispy on the outside and the taro aroma was strong but not too overpowering. The meat filling was also well seasoned and I just very much appreciated how nicely done they were. Their char siu pastry 叉烧酥 was pretty decent; loved the fluffiness of the pastry but the sauce of their char siu filling was a little too sweet for my liking. The restaurant itself has a couple floors and unfortunately my party of 2 was stuck in this small side room. Food nevertheless still came quick on a busy weekday lunch and service was pretty on point (I think it helps if you speak the language) but they seemed polite to other customers who only spoke English.

So we stumbled upon this restaurant while perusing along the very crowded streets of Chinatown and people watching all the alfresco dining going on. So happy we chose this indiscreet place! Food was ffffantastic! The pork dumplings were prob the best I've ever eaten and the chicken with vegetables I know sound zzzzzzzz but it too was so dang good. It wasn't overpowered with soy sauce or garlic but had a nuanced flavor that let the vegetables and chicken shine through. The veggies were crisp and omg. Also had the Wagyu steak fried rice, another stellar dish! Why can't I find this in the States?!! Go here when you're in London!

Old school dimsum with classic recipes echoing their roots from Hong Kong. Solid examples of staples like Gong zhao--chicken feet Lo mai kai--lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice with chicken Ham Yu Kailup ChaoFun--saltfish fried rich with chicken Lou Pat Kou--fried radish cake Har Cheong Fun--prawns in rice noodle rolls Quick efficient service, nice dining room. Given its location, humane prices as well.

TLDR authentic Cantonese cooking beyond dim sum! Steamed seafood will take some time to come so order early! Great lamb casserole for winter!!

First - correction to Yelp: this should be listed as Royal China Baker St. Not Marylebone. Officially it may be in the Marylebone precinct, but it is on Baker St. NOW - 5555555 stars is an understatement. I love everything about this place - authentic Hong Kong style dim sum, roast meats (char Siu and roast duck!!!), and attentive Cantonese speaking waiters. Please don't try to invite too many friends. I'd suggest 4. Then you can order a lot of dishes to share. Strangely, some dim sum dishes come in 3 pieces, so you have to fight. Order about 6 dim sum starters for 4 people, then 2-3 mains. Their duck comes in two types. PLEASE DO NOT order crispy duck. Or Peking duck. These are so 1990's. Crispy duck is for the old English people who didn't know anything about Chinese food. What you get is a dry piece of duck leg, roasted to death. Rather, order the Cantonese style roast duck, with or without bone.

This place has good QUALITY of dim sum. BUT the portion is not big. Price is too high. Consider this place is in London. The cost of living is very high. It seems like my server didn't really care about serving me. I had to ask her for the tea and to place my order. The minced pork dumpling(Siu Mai) is good but it's very tiny. The Black Gold Yolk Lava Buns are good too but it's a smallest version of Lava Bun I have tried in any dim sum restaurants. The Peanut Crumbs are good as well. Again, it's small. The Royal China Cheung Fun looks like their signature item because of its name. I thought it's some extra fancy item but it's actually just 2 pieces of beef, 2 pieces of Cha Siu, and 2 pieces of shrimp Cheung Fun. No surprise at all and it cost $7.20!

Great dinner: Hot & sour soup, appetizer tray with shrimp toast, seaweed, egg rolls, and chicken. Duck pancakes with scallions and hoisin, spicy shrimp and a chicken dish as a main. The service was a bit spotty but the food compensated.

Fine dim sum is about observing the delicate preparation of bite-sized dumplings, the freshness and quality of the meat-mix, the moderate texture of the wraps and a very balanced taste due to the combination of meats. Garnishing like the lotus leaf and softness of the glutinous rice bring quality detailing that differentiates the a 4 and 5-Star. Complementing the dim sum menu is not something you leave to chance. It has to provide the assurance that the dim sum variety is respectable and the other dishes are simply "by-choice". That's because the art of dim sum eating is really about moderation to be enjoyed gracefully with friends and family. Therefore other dishes simply add only colour. The grilled duck and friend chicken is very lovely and worth every bite. You must complement the dish with their authentic dried chilli paste (deep red in colour). Royal China is a must stop if you want wonderful and comforting Chinese food. For us, it's most definitely one of the top 5 Chinese restaurants in London.

The clay pot rice is so nice! The rice is with aroma. I like the beef ball which includes aged organs peel and mati.

This is my favorite chinese in London. Tastes as good as authentic Chinese and service is top notch, which you can hardly find in US.

Chinatown must stop place for emerging into dim-sum!…read more After checking out a lot of spots in Chinatown; we gave this one a go for their specialities and it was very good. I must admit I was wary cause of the raiting but a local friend of mine; insisted on his recommendation and I gave in. I'm glad I did. The food was pretty good. Ordered a bit of everything to try out and it was delicious. The service was not amazing. Even when the restaurant was not very busy; seemed like the staff was more interested in their chats than to help around the patrons. Also, every time they will bring something it felt like a bothersome. I am only giving 4 starts purely on the food. If I count the service; I may give 3

Really good dim sum spot in Chinatown! They serve a wide variety of classic authentic dim sum…read moredishes in a nice and comfortable setting. I especially liked the pork cheung fun and the crispy noodles with pork. The xiao long bao and egg custards were good too. It was about 25 GBP per person, which is not bad for this quality of dim sum. The staff are pretty friendly and surprisingly hospitable - even for a slow eater like myself, I did not feel rushed at all and they often came by to refill my water whenever they noticed it getting low. The service speed is also very fast. There was a ~10 min wait to get in on Sunday afternoon, which isn't too bad at all. While the food didn't quite wow me enough for a full 5 stars, I would probably give Orient London 4.5 stars if I could. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good dim sum in London.
