They took out our old flooring and installed Travertine. It turned out beautiful except.....they didn't remove our expensive baseboards and they got all mucked up, ruined!! They should have removed them or suggested we remove. They all have to be replaced! On top of that they put a cheap wood threshold rather than ceramic. We are updating our bathroom- counter top, bath tub backsplash & upgrading to a glass/tile shower. After seeing the commercials for Yates, we went for a visit, taking a piece of our tile & floor to match backsplash, accents and shower tiling. I was hoping for design experience, material selection and a turn key-one stop shop of our tile & glass shower. The salesperson gave very little design input. I think he was more involved in the Tech - TCU game than he was our project. The ideas revolved around our tile choices and his ideas were on the "bold-make a statement" rather than the elegance we desired. I asked for samples on 2 tiles. It's 5 weeks later. I have the 2 samples by going to MSI tiles online & paying $5 shipping for them. So they can't be trusted...even for supplying samples. When asked about doing the glass shower, we were give a contact rather than a one stop shop. Now I find the same tile at Home Depot. I plan not to return. read more

Went in twice to simply match pre-existing backsplash. First, they were very helpful and offered samples. Went back to buy small order to and pick up in stock, and it took a little time to complete transaction. Then drive around to customer pickup section. This was where the workers were unmotivated. Counter people were discussing their breakfast choices while asking me to wait. Very unprofessional in that department, 5 people behind counter and no other customers. Disappointing for only 10 sheets of tile. Later received call from warehouse manager, he expressed his apology and explained that he has addressed the customer pickup issues. I will go back and try again because of the excellent sales people in showroom and stock. read more

I should have read the reviews first so didn't waste my time. I noticed not a single review was answered by the company. This I Indicates to me they could care less. Upon entering my wife and I were greeted by the staff, but not a single one of them offered to help or seemed as if they didn't want to. I was In customer service for over 20 years so i can read body language. The receptionist was upbeat, friendly and informative, but the sales people standing around blew us off. We started looking around with no help, I guess it's my job to beg for help. We sat down at a table near reception before a salesperson begrudgingly helped us. He was friendly and made us believe he was going to help us. He took a copy of our floor plan we brought with all the measurements, and told us he would email us with an estimate and we haven't heard from him. I almost forgot while we were in his cubicle the salesperson next to him with earbuds in was watching the Tech game on his computer with a store full of people. read more

We paid Yates over 4000 to begin a tiled project in our house, and they agreed, saying it would be a few weeks, two at most. Eight weeks later, EIGHT mind you, they finally came over with the wrong color tile, claiming that they couldn't replicate the color we wanted. So our carpet is torn up, our furniture is everywhere, and we have to start again. First, though, we have to secure a refund from Yates. I had heard that they did a great job with floors and tiles, but they were unresponsive, late, and, ultimately, we aren't using them. I cannot imagine ever going back. read more

I am writing to compliment one of your employees in Midland, Rebekah Stallings. I wanted to purchase a small amount of tile and she helped me at the store. There was some difficulty in getting the tile ordered because the size I wanted was not in the computer database. She worked on this issue for several days, kept in contact with me during the process, and eventually worked out the problem. Rebekah went above and beyond standard customer service and really worked hard to help me and resolve the issue. I am hoping to replace the carpet in my home in the near future, and the first call I make will be to Rebekah. We weren't sure what we needed exactly or where to start on our project to cover our brick fireplace with rock. From the moment we walked into Yates the front desk personnel were friendly and arranged for us to meet Will Truby. He spent an extended period of time helping us understand what our options were and outlining the process. He explained the types of rock and helped decide whether to do the job ourselves or arrange an installer. We left without deciding and chose to explore all our options. None came close to what Will and Yates offered. We went back a couple of weeks later and he remembered us from the first time. We had the job scheduled and the work was completed in a timely manner. This has to be the most dishonest flooring company in Lubbock. Unfortunately Lubbock is limited on showrooms like this so you almost have to do business with them. They treat you like crap, charge you too much and your finished product will never be the same price as your first quote though them. Stay away from this place if at all possible. read more

Our experience with Yates was one disappointment after another. The entire staff including the "designer/decorator" we were directed to was a mess. It was like a constant game of "who's on first". Tile samples were ordered but never received. Phone calls and emails were never returned. In the end changes to our order were made without our knowledge or approval at a substantially higher cost. First of all, the one star I gave was because the staff really was friendly. That's where their customer service ended. Don't purchase your flooring here. Take a good look at their selection, but order somewhere else. First of all, we were denied their "in house" financing (which is through a 3rd party company who didn't have their act together). We floored around 7000sq. ft of a new house. Had no problems picking out the flooring I wanted and ordering it. The demolition crew who came in was awful. They left handprints all over my walls, and left tile around baseboards that should have been taken up. They were going to charge me an additional $2000 to "level" the floor all over. This was because they didn't take the time to remove baseboards and take up the flooring all the way to the concrete. They left mortar on the floor and we're going to float the floor and put my hardwoods on top of that. The demolition crew proceeded to prime the floor and wound up splattering grey primer up the walls and brushing it against the white columns. When the wood flooring came in, the stair pieces were mismatched and we had to wait on ordering it again. I had to return several boxes of tile that were a completely different color than the ones I ordered. When it was all finished (2 months later because I decided that hiring one man to do a great job and do it correctly was better than continuing with their hired crew), we had 11 boxes of hardwood flooring left because they over ordered. It's been 3 weeks and they are still "working on my refund". I will not shop at Yates ever again. I may go in to look at their selection, but I'll find other avenues to purchase what I want. read more
