So, I discovered an amazing brand new Japanese clothing store today, only to find out they've been on the square for 20 years. To make up for lost time I bought an awesome chartreuse linen shirt from the sale rack outside. My friends were tired of waiting for me so I sent them to a tasting room & went back for more. The two ladies inside were wearing the goods and looked more fantastic in them than I could hope for. Seriously, after I win the lottery I will buy the entire inventory. There's some one-of-a-kind pieces behind the counter, and a lot of generously proportioned arty pieces that look good on a variety of bodies. These are the kind of effortlessly stylish items everyone should have in their closet when they want to up their game & get out of the T-shirt & jeans look. Perfect for gallery openings, street festivals, fine dining & grocery shopping. I almost feel like an adult in my new shirt.

Yes, its odd for a guy to do a review on a woman's clothing store. No, I don't have a woman's clothes fetish (at least not one externally detectable). Whenever I am in Healdsburg, I prod my wife to go in and poke around. What I love about the place is the balance struck between Japanese traditional textiles (mostly from old kimonos) and Western fashion. The Japanese women who the place have the utmost respect for the fabrics that they ply into very classy, very distinctive fashion. That balance is really hard to attain without being really tacky or be totally blatant, in-your-face about the Japanese-ness of their clothing.

You know how you try to find places that have unique pieces of women's clothing, bags, scarves, etc. and you come up with things that look uniquely like the rest of the boutique finds out there? Go to this store! Yasuko has the true beautifully hand crafted garments made from antique kimono fabrics, and other textiles from Japan you don't see every day. You can also buy fabric, buttons, and many other misc. items. This store is a jewel! The owner and her staff are BEAUTIFUL Japanese women, who are very gracious, and welcoming. The vibe of the store is calm and inviting. Don't miss this one People!

Some of the gorgeous clothes!

I would expect a retail store with two decades of experience to understand why a customer who spends over $70 on a cotton t-shirt would expect it to last longer than a couple months. While I value supporting small, locally owned businesses, I refuse to be treated as though my patronage is taken for granted rather than appreciated. I will not be returning.

They're conveniently located on the south side of Healdsburg's Plaza, between Noble Folk Ice Cream and the Healdsburg Inn. The prices aren't cheap but are in line with what you'd spend on those brands elsewhere. I popped in needing a top and was greeted by the friendly and helpful manager. Found two cute Michael Stars tanks that will be long-lasting layering pieces! Score! They have an exclusive men's boutique called Ereloom two doors down (on the other side of the Inn). If you do buy here or at any of the other small boutiques in town, take note of their return policy. It's often a short window of time, and for store credit or exchange. I get it. Small business! Cheers!
