To be honest I was a little disappointed with this place. With all the good reviews I figured I can't go wrong since I love Mediterranean food, every town I visit I always have it at least once. First for dinner they ran out of falafel and baklava, no matter. I got the three meats, so chicken, beef shawarma and gyro. I am discovering that I enjoy Mediterranean food. Yasou was recommended to me by some friends in Tallahassee that I just had to try. My wife and I started out with the triple dip appetizer. We chose tzasiki, lemon feta, and some word that I don't remember how to say that starts with a B but it is made with eggplant. The cashier recommended we add 8 more warm pita chips for $1 as it only came with 8. That was a brilliant suggestion because I don't know how we would have ate these 3 dips with only 8 pita chips. The pita chips were so soft! For my entree, I went with lamb schwarma. It was my first time having schwarma and I can't wait until the next time. My lamb was so tender and it didn't have the lamb taste to it. I loved the tahini sauce and the Yasou sauce I requested on the side. I don't usually brag about rice, but the rice was made extremely well and flavorful. My wife and stepson shared Yasou fries. These fries were piled high with cheese and gyro meat. My orders are either wrong or the quality just isn't there anymore. I'm not sure how they managed to give me two stale bags of pita, but they did. The place has lots of parking. The restaurant itself is bright and clean looking. The counter staff was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. The man I assume is the owner was also friendly and helpful. Y'all - the hibiscus tea is made in house and to die for! I'll be dreaming of that tea in the coming days. I had the appetizer platter and baklava ice cream. Hubby had a shawarma platter with the house soup. The spanikopita was much fuller and you could tell they were made in house. Nice and buttery phyllo to them. The fried shawarma was done just right and flavorful. The dolmas were fried? A little odd, but good. The fresh dips were another highlight. Again, the freshly made flavors came through. The falafel were OK. Seemed to be a little over fried. My husband didn't care for the soup, but I thought it was quite good. We both loved the fried pita bread that came with it. It's a basic cafe with a walk-up ordering counter. I went on a fairly light day during the weekend. The service was good. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Greek salad. It was good but the shawarma was a little dry. I did not mind it in the salad, but I don't know if I would have enjoyed it alone. The portion size was generous. The price was average. I tried Yasou Cafe for the first time this week and it was really good. I was really impressed with the dolmades! I got that as an appetizer with Tzataki sauce. I loved the bitterness of the grape leaves and how it contrasted the lamb and rice. I had the gyro pita with Greek fries. The gyro meat was good but the pita bread was the best part of the sandwich. The feta is really strong so you may want to ask for light feta. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a little out of the ordinary. The staff is nice and accommodating. Spouse had a gyro, he said it was good. I ordered the lemon chicken soup, Avgolemono. It had oil sitting on the top and many of the pieces of chicken in the soup was like leather. Grant it, there was a good bit of chicken but I couldn't eat about 1/2 of it. The hummus is in a to go container, it had oil starting to pool around the bottom. I think the kitchen staff must be heavy handed with the olive oil. The pita bread was good soaked in the soup. We got the fries and don't get me wrong, they were good, but a little greasier than I expected, however, it was covered with mozzarella cheese and baked, I should have thought of that. :^}. It was mostly lettuce, and I felt like you almost get enough dressing to go with it I was a little confused about ordering à la carte versus platter, and the person who was helping me was not really able to clarify it. Everything is so Fresh & Delicious! We have been here a few times since they opened, and it's always so tasty. The Chicken Shawarma plate is my absolute favorite, and I usually have enough for left overs the next day. The falafel is crispy outside, but the perfect consistency inside. Craving gyros, we ordered delivery from Yasou Cafe. And we were very happy as a result. We started with the three dip combo where you can choose from 4 options. We chose tzatziki, whipped feta and baba ghanoush (the 4th option was hummus) which comes with your choice of bread- we chose warm pita. All three choices were delicious, but the whipped feta was amazing. And the baba ghanoush had a wonderful smoky flavor from the roasted eggplant. We also tried the Greek Fries, which are topped with feta, mozzarella, garlic butter and green onions (we had ours with Yasou Magic sauce). Delicious. We also shared a large Mediterranean salad that was more than enough for two. And then there was the gyro which we ordered with tzatziki sauce and a side of Yasou rice. We actually ordered two of these, but they forgot to deliver one (we received a refund). But I'm glad that we only had one: it was huge. We easily, but messily, split it. Who know the Avgolemono soup would be so delicious? And the falafel was perfectly flavored. This visit, I had the Gyro Platter and was allowed to substitute falafel for the hummus. The wait time was long and there were only 2 people ahead of us. It took 20 minutes for our food to be ready and we had to get up and ask for it. We noticed there was food waiting to go out - we'll chalk this up to growing pains because restaurants are re-opening after quarantine. I suggest ordering online to minimize wait time. Also, they had a scan and pay method that you can use to pay from your table. Thought that was pretty neat. Their portions are big for the price. So much meat that it kept falling off so I just added it to the top of my fries. The greek fries were good. The cheese on top of the fries was everything. Now if they seasoned their fries with seasoning salt, it would make it amazing. My best friend ordered the yasou fries and added chicken. The chicken was too bland for my personal taste. I like the food at this restaurant, but today I had a very bad experience with the takeout via GrubHub. I did not receive the tzatziki sauce and the tabouli salad. These are two staples for this type of restaurant so I don't understand why they would be out of these items and apparently they just forgot to put in the tzatziki sauce. If you're going to run a restaurant, get your act together because these are simple things that should not be happening. Apparently you don't have someone double check the orders to see if everything is there. If you're out of an item on GrubHub, just cancel the order. It is not fair to the customer to find out that there will be a missing item that they have paid for. Not cool. It puts the customer at a disadvantage and inconvenience of having to call GrubHub and get their order amount adjusted because employees were not on the ball and don't know how to handle this situation. I believe your employees need formal training regarding simple situations that turn into nightmares for the customer. The girl at the restaurant said she had told the GrubHub driver that they were out of tabouli. Red flag number one, that is a staple at a Mediterranean restaurant so why are you out of this? Red flag number two why are you telling the driver? The driver did not relay the message. You sent the order with two significant missing items and yet I had paid for them. Again, not cool. If you want to succeed in being a successful business, get your act together and hopefully you will handle situations like this better in the future because you have trained your employees to be more professional and proficient. read more

The time was 3 pm on a Saturday, not lunch time, not dinner time, and not in the slightest busy when we arrived. Only 1 couple was at one table and were already eating. I saw 3 people working at that time, a gal at the register, a guy who appeared to be cooking maybe, and some gal who was in the back but not doing much. There were 3 of us, I ordered first. None of us had been here before so we had to take in the menu to understand the offerings. When I asked about what kind of protein can be added to the Mediterranean salad, the gal said "any of our proteins" . Then finally went on to describe 2 different kinds of chicken (prepared with different flavors) and a few other meats. She said one of the styles of chicken would be "quicker to come out, but the other one would take at least 15 minutes to prepare",...that should have been my red flag. What she was actually saying, as it turns out, was, my cook back there doesn't feel like cooking again today until the dinner rush, so please pick the chicken that's already prepared and has been sitting under a hot lamp drying out since 11 am. I picked the quicker option (she fooled me, I admit it), and boy did I pay. I ordered some kind of lemon chicken soup and Mediterranean salad with old dried up tasteless disgusting chicken. The only thing the cash register gal does is punch in your order and then carries your order to the table when it's ready, this is not a waitress or anyone who should expect a tip. However, when you check out, as is the case with every fast food place that is supposed to make your food to order, you pay and the screen asks for a tip at checkout before you even know if you have enjoyed your food or had good customer service. This is a sad epidemic that happens everywhere now and is not unique to this place. I tipped because "I feel bad" if I don't, but am massively dissatisfied almost every time at these types of places. I get my food which was delivered in under 2 minutes, sounds good right? Nope! If they had to prepare the chicken and cook it fresh, it would at least take 5 - 7 minutes. You receive the food on these cheap plastic dishes. My soup was obviously heated up in the microwave for far too long as with my first spoonful, I dreadfully scalded my tongue. Then I tasted the salad with the old dry tasteless chicken, no bueno! It tasted like it was dry and old and tasteless because it was! But, I friggin ate it anyway (can anyone relate?). You find yourself hungry and you just want to eat. So, I filled the pie hole bothered by every bite. It was in a word, TERRIBLE! But wait, there's more... while the others who were with me placed their order, I scoped out a table, of which there were many because no one was there except for the 2 people who were already served. No, not that one, no not that one, no not that one and so forth this went on because every single table/chairs or booth seats were covered in crumbs and smears from the previous diners, and the "lunch rush" had long passed. I took it upon myself to get some napkins and clean the table we decided to sit at. The workers could see me doing this yet no one ran out with a rag and some cleaning spray to not only do their job, put practice appropriate cleaning protocols which are no doubt in place by management (no management present obviously). It was an abysmal experience from start to finish and that is really sad and disappointing. And to remind you I added a tip at checkout to basically be abused and given bad food, shame on you Yasou! And, to boot, they *still* have "please keep 6 feet distance" dots on the floor as you approach the counter. I say, please keep at least 6 feet of distance from ever entering this restaurant. Excellent Restaurant for Greek food. Their gyros are fabulous and you can get them in a variety of different ways. You can get a Gyro with a pita bread, you can get it in a bowl with yellow rice and there was another way but I forgot the third one. Their french fries are amazingly crispy and delicious everything I have tried in this place has been wonderful. Their baklava is also very good my only criticism would be it is too small a piece. This was my first time trying Yasou because my go-to gyro joint was closed. I must say, this gives my number one Greek spot a run for it's money. We tried the hummus.....uhhhhmazing, the gyro which was fantastic. We also got the Kafta plate with dolmades and whipped feta. So good. I would caution any cilantro haters out there, that the dolmades and Kafka have it. So if you love cilantro, you will love these two items. If you don't, stick with everything else. Second time here. First time was much better. Had some issues with our Uber eats order the second time, but called and they were more than accommodating so definitely worth the extra star to make it four. We've ordered take-out many times from Yasou Cafe. I typically get the Greek salad and the lemon chicken soup. The salad is a good size and very fresh. The soup is AWESOME! I visited the first time yesterday with some friends and ordered the beef shwarma. Also very good. The restaurant is clean and pleasantly decorated. The owner walked around from table to table welcoming the guests. Overall, I'm very impressed. I live in Southwood, so I will ne back and will be recommending this restaurant to others. My dining companion and I enjoyed a lunch at Yasou Café on a recent Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is located in a former Starbucks café, but you can't see signs of its predecessor. The décor is bright, well lit and inviting. We were greeted promptly. I believe the owner prepared our meals. We enjoyed the gyro plate, including hummus and pita, gyro meat over a bed of rice, with tzatziki sauce and a small salad. My companion ordered the beef kabobs and the Greek fries. The fries were hot and crispy and that's a plus! You'd think that's expected, but in this town fries are often warm and soggy. Both our meals were filling and so much so we took half of both home with us. Service was swift and pleasant. We will surely return for either dine in or take out service. Friendly service but the food needs work. Ordered the beef kabob and "Greek fries". The beef kabob was cooked well but had zero flavor like no salt at all. The hummus tasted like it was premade from a jar. Also why would you have franks red hot when you are a Mediterranean restaurant? Harissa can be bought from the same place the hummus was I assume. The Greek fries were just cheese fries. No feta no garlic sauce. Not sure if you can call that "Greek" in any way at all. Cleanliness was also an issue. Table and drink cup were greasy. The food is delicious with novel items like whipped feta with lemon. The baklava ice cream is tasty. My favorite is the Mezze platter with some seven items and lots of pita slices that feeds two or three people. Counter service with finished dishes served to tables inside and outside.
