This shop is AMAZING! Flew in from California and went to the Chelsea studio and got a childhood drawing tattoo from Chu and she was super sweet and polite and super cool to talk to. Everyone at the shop was super nice, they have a bar area that you can get food/drinks at for all the waiting people wait at to fill out forms and before the tattoo. They are EXTREMELY hygienic, Chu spent like 10 minutes wiping down and sanitizing her equipment and area before tattooing me and everyone (staff and guests) was required to wear masks. Glad they were being as safe as possible especially with COVID and monkeypox going around. The shop itself is super cool. Huge windows and it really has a nice open and modern concept to it. Great view of the city and very relaxing to get tattooed there. The tattoo turned out great for me! Was super fast, only lasted about 1-1.5 hours and Chu was super talkative and talked to me the whole time. She was very good about aftercare directions too and even didn't give me the second skin wrap since it itched for me on a previous tattoo. That definitely has helped as this tattoo is significantly less itchy that my previous one. Definitely would come back to get another tattoo from her. Bonus: I am vegan and they use vegan products and a vegan process! Super cool and that helped put my mind at ease about that stuff. This shop is amazing and absolutely worth your time! read more

Really great shop, super clean and minimalist. Everyone that I encountered was really easy going. Lena was great, she took my idea and made it so much better. She took her time with placement and really listened to me about what I liked and didn't like. It has been at least 10 years since I've gotten a tat so I was expecting a lot of pain but honestly I would say 2/10 for pain. Whatever needles she used were so fine that I barely felt it, it felt like a pinch. I even fell asleep for a few mins. I spent about an hour or so in the shop total. It was a nice experience. I had a horrible experience with a tattoo artist. I requested a simple scale design and paid a $100 deposit a MONTH in advance. For two weeks, there was no update on the design. When I contacted the artist a week before our appointment, I was initially ignored, and then a design change was recommended, which shows no progress was made on my original request. As the appointment got close, I didn't receive any design ideas or drafts, despite him telling me that he'd get back to me with a design in a few days. My previous experiences with other artists, where early and clear design discussions were the norm, and I kind of expected that from this time as well, but the constant BSing that he'll send me something in a few days was too much, so I canceled the appointment. I'm sharing this to show that it's important for your artists to communicate timely and set some expectations in advance, and maybe when your artist ignores the client and doesn't help in any way, consider putting that in your refund policy! read more

Left with a misspelled outline and now have to explore laser treatments. Mistakes happen, and I take responsibility for my lapse in judgement; in not triple checking myself. After several emails, a submission form and a zoom meeting explaining what I wanted (with correct spelling) I went into the appointment confident and trusting everything was in order because of how professional Yant studios conducted their business, the amazing reviews and having submitted several written examples. I wanted to get "rubis rouge" (meaning ruby red) on my thighs. When my appointment started we selected a font style and size. We spent 45 minutes on centering placement alone. Everything seemed great. My artist was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I do take responsibility for not triple checking the spelling, however I was never asked to verify the spelling on the stencil prior to starting. I really trusted the process because of how thorough the process of getting an appointment and the detailed submission forms. We started on "rouge" first... after the outline I realized the letters were arranged incorrectly and I was given "rogue" ... by definition a savage animal, or untrustworthy man... mentally I'm am now at a place of extreme disgust, discomfort and detachment from my own body. To say I feel embarrassed and ashamed is an understatement. Initially we thought of ways to change the font to correct the mishap but couldn't not find a solution because of the original font style. Another senior artist was FaceTimed in and offered the suggestion to color the word white, let it heal and then try to cover with a skin tone on top. I am not new to tattoos, I have been going to the same artist over the past 5 years (who unfortunately moved out of state and my reasoning for going to yant studio). In what knowledge I have about the tattooing process I was not comfortable with this solution; it seemed like a panic suggestion and I felt this proposed solutions were potentially problematic and completely wrong. The artist and I both agreed the best solution was to walk away and have laser treatment. The artist was beyond apologetic, and offered me what money they could from their own pocket to receive treatment. The shop refunded me my initial deposit. This is a cautionary tail that even if everything seems like you've done it right, you can never be to carful. read more

I had a very great experience working with the tattoo artist Tiffany, she let me take breaks whenever I needed and did an amazing job on creating a vision and executing it. Tivas did tattoo on my back, it was a little off once it healed, he offered free retouch. Barry did my cover up on the ankle, he communicated with me a lot and tried different design until we were both ok with the results. Also I like how clean and minimal the shop is, compared to most tattoo shops I have been to. If you're African American don't bother coming to this shop. The artists are talented by their work I seen but the way they treat you can make you feel like garbage. It's like going into a high end fashion store and the salesman's treating you like you can't afford to buy anything. I made an appointment a month ago planning my tattoo I wanted, letting the artist take a photo so she can sketch it out so when I came back she could show me an idea of what it would come out like. After I left I wanted to keep in touch with the artist via Instagram so she can let me know when she's done, or if she needed me to come in for another consultation about my idea but not the case at all. Fast forward to now I go by to visit to leave a deposit because it would be our second meeting that SHE scheduled. The artist doesn't care to see me and doesn't recall meeting me at all and that I should come by another time to get consultation. I later look at instagram because I remember I reached out to her from my first appointment but I'm blocked. I was fully respectful, and patient and was looking forward to her creation but now I know they don't really like my kind. It even hurt my feelings more because she couldn't come up to me and talk to me but was snickering in the corner with the secretary, I would've loved to hear the joke. All the talent in the world can't save your personality. My brothers & sisters, don't waste your time. I hate to make this about color but what a huge slap in the face. read more

It was a relaxing experience because of how easy she is to talk to and how friendly she is. I'm super happy with my tattoo especially since this was my first. Popped in for a tattoo, wanting to support a nee local business. I had my own artwork but failed to have access to a digital file of it so Tivas, the artist, had to recreate it. He did an excellent job creating and sizing my piece. It was a perfect pairing as he specializes in fine line art and I wanted mine to be super fine. The studio is super clean, two other customers were getting tattoos, once by an artist using just a traditional needle, no machine. I appreciated their attention to detail, the hygienic practices, and their use of this surgical grade bandage. I had to keep in on for 3-4 days and now that it's off, I have had zero itching or peeling or scabbing. Love it. read more
