On my most recent trip to NY this was the first bar that I went to because we went to check out the new Yankee Stadium and this bar is right across the street. I loved it! The beer was nice and cold and the bartender was really friendly. We got into talking about sports with him and some of the other patrons sitting at the bar. It felt like I knew them from a small town or something. I will definitely be going there again once I move to NY and I leave a Yankees game :) read more

Has to be one of my favorite bars on my list. This bar did not appeal to me at first but it really is a good old fashioned bar where you can go relax and have a good price. The bartenders are great with the customers, always friendly and attentive. The food servings are plentiful and great for the price. Also talk about a good drink; not watered down but a true strong drink. I love that they don't skimp on their customers! I love the Yankee memorabilia all over giving it that cozy old school charm. It's very easy to feel comfortable here which I love. I always recommend it to people when my friends come to visit me. read more

This is a great Yankee themed neighborhood park in the Bronx. As a visitor to New York, I felt extremely welcome here and had an enjoyable evening with friends. The bartender was super friendly and even bought us a round. There was not a game at Yankee stadium that day so the bar patrons were locals. Everyone was so friendly, this is exactly what a neighborhood bar should be. Prices were good. This isn't a place to go for specialty cocktails. Although they can make them, you will get a WTF look. I may be a little Bias here because the bartender, who looks like a short Al Roker, gave my debit card to another customer, he was clearly on something, messing up people's orders, forgetting orders, disappearing...and it wasn't even busy! So, instead of going to monument park pregame for my 1st trip to yankees stadium, I got to wait at the chase bank to cancel my card and try to get a new one, but the banks card machine was apparently down...on a good note, Yankee cheese steak was great and wings were good. read more

This is a really fun and cool sports bar right outside Yankee Stadium. I came here during a Yankee game and the place was packed with Yankee fans cheering and watching the TV. The beer is cold and cheap and the food is really good. The atmosphere and intensity of the bar is completely unlike anything I had experienced. read more

As a yankee fan, the place is filled with gems, from the past, as far as memorabilia and stuff. It's a pretty decent spot but sketchy as heck. The bartender looked like he hated his job, the food wasn't bad and it was fairly priced. The price on the drinks is average for the area, so nothing special there. No happy hour.... When it was time to get my check the bartender brought the check, looked at it then told me the price and walked away without leaving the check? I asked to see the check,and he said that only food was on the check but the drinks were separate, did he pocket those Extra 15$? I don't know it's just sketchy. It was a great place to hang out before a game. With one exception, last night it was so crowded one could barely move and so my friend and I were sandwiched against the wall. A cable box fell from the ledge above and hit me squarely on the head. An employee asked if I was ok, but that was all. No follow up, not even a free beer or anything... This is a fun place to hang out at before or during a Yankees game. The people in attendance are all in a good mood and pumped for some baseball which makes for a nice atmosphere. The bartenders were all really nice and friendly. It does not get too packed surprisingly before a game. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is going to a Yankees game and needs a spot to hang out at before game. read more

3.5 stars... If you've ever been to a major league baseball game you know that the prices of food and drinks are unreal. I decided to get to my Yankees game early and eat and drink outside the park at one of the several sports bars in the area. Yankees Tavern is steps from the subway and a block from the stadium so its really easy to get to. The place is packed on game day (I'm sure it's pretty slow otherwise). They've got a super long bar in the main area and a sit down type restaurant in the back. As I was going to eat I thought I'd avoid the hectic crowd at the bar and get a table but as I stood by the entrance of the restaurant for a couple minutes with workers weaving around me and no one helping or telling me to seat myself I figured the service would probably be faster at the bar. In addition to their main menu they have about seven or so $5 meal deals (like sliders, hot dogs, chicken or meatball parms, or pulled pork, all with fries). The fries were the battered kind which were really good and well cooked (though ketchup was not made available to me they really didn't need any sprucing up). The pulled pork was pretty huge but oddly enough was topped with tomatoes and lettuce which I immediately disposed of. The untoasted bun and mushy pile of bbq soaked pork was edible but that's about it. Compared to anything you could get in Yankee stadium it was a fantastic value. $6 Coors light bottles or $5 Bud light drafts in small (12oz?) plastic cups were pretty expensive, and considering the beer inside the stadium is about $10 for a cup that holds about 22-24oz it doesn't really save you much money getting a buzz here first. Some of the people here were pretty obnoxious (being Yankees fans this is to be expected) but the service was decent considering the amount of people they had to deal with. It's an decent Yankees themed dive bar and if they came down on their beer prices (or up on the quantity) I'd probably have rounded up instead of down on this one. read more

I grew up by Yankee Stadium, moved away and come back to visit often. I went here tonite with my sister and niece. The bar area was packed, loud, music was good. We sat down to eat and the three of us, LOVED our meals. The salmon was fresh, nicely done. The veggie burger "excellent" said my niece. My sister said her BLT was "fresh". It is so good to have restaurants in this area that serve good meals, not just coffee and donuts. Great food. The waiter was a nice person too. read more

Meh. Just meh. Menu is standard bar fare with nothing extraordinary: sandwiches, wraps, appetizers. Service wasn't bad - the waitress was quite good. But nothing spectacular. Don't expect much by way of ambiance: this is truly a sports bar. Ladies, jut close your eyes and find a happy place if you need to use their facilities. My friend and I visited this place twice before the games at the Yankee Stadium. It's always crowded I don't know how! The place seems old and dirty, the little bathroom is disgusting and full of toilet paper and garbage all around the floor like they don't even clean it. An old skinny guy that works there as a bartender has a nasty attitude and he looks careless and on a bad mood. He has a big mouth to reply stupidities to the customers if you ask for something. For ex, I asked him how much would a bottle of Jaegermeister cost me and he just replied in front of more customers and using a nasty attitude "if I think that I was in a liquor store to buy that bottle, that I was in a bar!" Yelling at me, I was just in shock with his reaction. I though that you can buy a bottle anywhere and drink it. Second visit, I didn't see the old man. A young man took care of us. He was nice and very attentive, the bar was packed again. I didn't try any food there and I don't think I would. read more

Had a bad experience before the Yankees-Tampa game on September 26, 2017 where the bartender was passively ignoring me at the bar and going out of his way to serve everyone else at the long bar. When he finally gave me eye contact and permission to order, he decided to tell me to hold on and serve another person who just came to the bar mid-sentence. I don't want to think he was being racist, but it was clear there was something about a group of three Asian-Americans that he didn't want to deal with. I suspect that had something to do with it considering we were the only people of color in that bar and the bartender obviously had a problem with us without interacting with any of us. read more

Yankee tavern has Great food and it's close to the stadium. The wait staff is fast and polite. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, but I think you need to ask for lettuce and tomato because it just came with chicken in the wrap. All in all it was an inexpensive lunch spot to hit up before the game. read more

We had a wonderful waitress named Grace that was so friendly and talkative to us out-of-towners in NYC for the game vs. Boston. (Yankees won!!) Awesome game day bar! Also a great neighborhood bar on the off season. The bartenders are awesome and take care of you, there's a juke box for everyone to be able to play the music they like. The prices are reasonable and the food is awesome. I was there last week for a game and have not been there in a long time, but I'm glad to see it's still the same great place it was before I moved from the Bronx.
