I came here for bar food and had low expectations but that's far from what I got. Timing to be seated seemed like it was going to be quite the wait because the place was slammed but it turned out better than any 5-star I've been....Chaos at the street where diners and boozers are building up for the game ahead, the host grabs a name from you nearly audible over the L we are perched below. You think you're never getting a table... minutes later seated , seconds into the wait drinks are ordered from you, and literally as you get comfortable, they're served. You order off the limited menu thinking bar grub.. it's all served hot and as requested. Well done fries nailed and wings falling off the bone in a hand made sauce that sticks (so damn tasty it caught me off guard). You need to visit pre and post game. It's a NY thing. read more

Stan's is a South Bronx icon. It's almost a pilgrimage for any Yankees fan. But this, this is the World Series and I wanted to get the experience. I walked in to get my tab going so I can enjoy my time (well, before game 2 started). Walking in, INSTANTLY hit by Yankees history. Seeing some of the pictures threw me back into memories of seeing games on TV with my grandfather and my dad. It felt right. I ordered my beer and it was a good one! Stan's Pilsner. You can only get it there and the brewery, that's it. Definitely a solid beer. I found my spot at the bar and had a couple before ordering chicken tenders and fries (the menu is limited, but they're good with it). A simple chicken tender (I'm thinking Tyson, by the seasoning. Can't go wrong with that), and fries. I ordered it and it came to me screaming hot in a flash (literally 1-2 minutes). The staff is top notch. Always asking if I needed anything. Friendly, and the best of the best. I don't know what to say about ambience. It's a sports bar for Yankees fans. It's perfect. The pennants of past World Series championships, the mural of past and present Yankee greats, it's astonishing. The only drawback is the super tiny bathrooms, but it's NYC, it's expected. read more

Tried to go to Yankee Tavern before the City, AC Milan match but it was small and crowded. Stan's was the bar my boyfriend researched and wanted to visit. We were very happy when we walked in and it was not crowded. I also liked that the crowd was mixed with both sets of fans. Nice outdoor space too. Drinks were a bit pricey, fries were okay. I grew-up a Yankee fan and our group stopped-in here recently on our way to Yankee Stadium, since the Yankees were hosting the Minnesota Twins. I really liked the vibe and it was cool to see all the Yankee fans hanging-out before the game. The bar was crowded, but, hey that's what a sports bar is all about. Even if you're not a Yankee fan, this is what you'd expect from devoted fans, who support their team. I really enjoyed all the Yankee memorabilia throughout the bar. They even have light fixtures of baseball bats and liquor bottles hanging from the bar. Service was really good and our servers were polite. I was at Stans today 4/5 before going to Yankee game, it was a very good eco. They are following COVID-19 rules, social distance, masks etc, it's table service only but there is plenty of room, they have tables outside and by curb. The service and food were outstanding. This place can get super packed on a nice game day and it was difficult getting to the bar but the prices are much cheaper than in the stadium and the crowd wasn't rowdy at all. All the doors and windows were open and the excitement of the game brought us in before the 2nd inning. Tip: DON'T come here to use the bathroom, its co-ed and the line is longer than actually ordering a beer. If this ambiance was in any other bar, I'd probably never go, but the fact that this IS across from the original site of Yankee Stadium and the place is always full of Yankee fans of all ages, makes it a "must do" every time i go to a game. In fact, all my Met fan friends wish there was a place like this near Citifield. Considering the crowds, service (provided you can get to one of the many bars) is excellent. The food is decent, but I'm trying to limit the amount of fried foods I eat, so it was only 1 very hot and crispy chicken finger for me. Stan's is a notch above the other bars in this area for serving Bronx Pale Ale AND Not Your Father's Root Beer, whereas the other place a couple blocks away had a pretty crappy beer lineup. Prices are not outrageous. There'a also food, but we were waiting for overpriced concessions at the NYCFC game. Interestingly, the bar starts to look like a Murray Hill Dive closer to game time (maybe it was the soccer crowd). Lots of Midwestern-looking bros vs. the muscled apes I was expecting to find here. Also deserving note, the dude at the door was kind of a d--k. He thought he was being funny, messing with us in his own "genial" way, but mostly came off like a jerk. Seriously, this place can be cool, but you can't be shy. Me and my buddy went on the 2011 Opening day, and resigned ourselves to being people-locked, and it wasn't really that bad. People are drunk, but friendly. People seem to come with the constant hope that the Yankees will pull out a victory, to slightly bolster their own shortcomings. Sometimes it works. This place is best observed by the casual outsider, during the middle innings of a weekday game when everyone is inside. Or a blowotu, when no one cares. This is based off me spending a few minutes in Stan's while people I know met other people they know and so on and so forth.. Really not my type of bar. I don't enjoy bars that I have to literally shout over the music just to hear every other word in a conversation. Maybe this dies down when the game is, and it's fine to be loud DURING a game, but loud (may I also mention crappy?) music before the game, is just ridiculous. They seem to have plenty of seating, which is appreciated. However, maybe it was just the day I popped in, but there seemed to be a lot of sorority girls and frat boys lingering around. Not my kind of crowd. I'm older than half these "kids" and can hold my liquor way better than most of them. I'll come check out Stan's again one day for a game and see how it is. Luckily, I'm always at Yankee games so I can celebrate inside the stadium. read more

If you're going to a game at Yankee stadium. It's def worth stopping in before or after the game. It a huge place. 2 floors. They have an outdoor area too. Decent beer selection. And a lot cheaper than inside the stadium. It might get full on some days. But they have 2 huge bars so grabbing a beer is never a problem. It's only about a 1 minute walk to Yankee stadium.
