Perhaps the best place to buy beer and other alcohol goods in New England. Not that I know anything about where to buy anything in New England, but if you're on your way to visit friends in Massachusetts, and you're coming from New York, this is a convenient place to stop right off the highway. Lots of local brews as well as international and the usual craft suspects including Dogfish Head, White Birch, Mikkeller, Victory, Stone, etc. Portland, ME seems to be a principal source, as well. Had the pleasure to shop at Yankee Spirits today in Sturbridge after the Brimfield antique fair. Brought a friend who has never been Before and he was amazed at the size of the store and the selection. Denis was very knowledgable about the bourbon and the other spirits. I am a fan of rum and I was in Porta Rico a few months ago and had a mojito at a five star hotel and the bartender showed me the rum and it was don q anejo. When leaving and going thru customs it was $20.00 a bottle. Needles to say it was cheaper at Yankee spirits. Long story short we spent more at Yankee spirits then we did at Brimfield. For Sturbridge, MA this Package Store gets 5 stars. You will be hard pressed to find a selection this big in South Central Mass in the wine and beer categories. They have tastings frequently, and their staff is helpful if you ask for it. They even have offered to order something special I requested once because they didn't have the unusual German Riesling I was looking for. For some, this is merely a stop to stock up on booze while heading down to NY. I'm originally from this area, so for me, this is the most important place to stop on my way to Brimfield to visit my family. Truly a fantastic store. I ordered online and had a case of wine FedExed. The selection is as good as it gets, and the service is top-notch as well. The staff even emailed me to let me know that I was eligible for a sizable discount if I ordered a few bottles more!
