Was with a larger group, but service was great and we all enjoyed the food and drinks. Place was well decorated and I saw a range of folks there, including some people with their kids. Definitely a great gathering spot for whatever group you want to meet up with. Strawberry basil lemonade was incredible, fantastic balance of tart and sweet. My top appetizers had to be the Crab Rangoon dip and Brie fondue. The Brie fondue with hot honey was perfect with the tart green apples and crispy bread, definitely something I'd eat again. Decided to pop into the newly renovated Wormtown Brewery on Shrewsbury St in Worcester. The entrance is grand & the tap room is enormous with games, bar seating, picnic tables, & a cozy little area off to the side with smaller high-top tables. Paul & Joey took fabulous care of us throughout dinner. I started with an Elderflower Cosmo, one of their many cocktail options. This place was closed for a year for renovation. We were thrilled it was as actually reopening. What a disappointment- it's dead inside- a big space without customers- fake grass, plastic plants and a cheap- looking place. The beer is decent, as is the staff (nice enough but not extraordinary), but the food is terrible. It's labeled "reimagined childhood classics!" Lamb ragú and crab Rangoon dip? I don't think so. My daughter and I went here right after they opened for the day. We each got a white sangria which we agreed was overly sweet. We changed to flavored seltzer and it was much better. They put a squirt of fruit flavor -- I got pineapple and she got blueberry -- which was very refreshing. We also got an order of pretzels which were delicious! We finally made it to Wormtown just before moving out of Worcester. At first we were fucking confused because it looks like it's closed from perhaps its original location but if you walk just down the block, you'll come across where you need to be. The interior decor is fun and lively. We chose to sit at the bar and after deliberating on some tasty options, settled on a couple of their droughts and munched on their soft pretzel. Service was good and prompt and beers went down easily. The pretzel bites were 4 small pillows instead of a proper soft pretzel and only one dipping sauce which in my opinion is not appropriate. They had live music, which is fine, but the genre was not my bag. GF and I were faced away from the musician and having our own conversation during which we were interrupted by other patrons. After some of the confusion, because I was wondering why the fuck these other people were talking to me, In front of the entire room, the musician was trying to get MY attention to pick a song for him to play. Wtf? I get crowd engagement and shit but I'm clearly doing my own thing in this bar. It was super fucking awkward and we left afterwards which is a shame because it's definitely not Wormtown's fault the musician they hired is lacking some social skills. It was fun visiting this brewery and see what was done to the building since I was here last. This was the old Edward Buick location and I remember getting 2 of my cars here years ago. You can still see the old transom 'Buick' windows. We were seated near the bar area and we were quickly greeted by our server (never got her name and it wasn't on our check). I told her I needed recommendations because I'm not a beer drinker. Our server made a couple recommendations I might like and I chose the Shrewsbury Street Shandy and my partner got the Irish Red. My beer was actually pretty tasty (for beer), it was very smooth. Because of covid it's a Massachusetts law you must order food with your drinks (don't ask me why). This was the only bad part of Wormtown Brewery... they didn't have anything we wanted. We weren't hungry for a meal and all the appetizers were kind of lame. We picked the hoppy fries because it was one of the cheapest apps, but $8.00 for french fries!!!! They weren't very good either, so I let my partner nibble on them. I would have preferred something simpler like cheese and crackers maybe. I didn't take the food into consideration when I rated Wormtown Brewery as at this point they are forced to offer food, but next time I'll check the food menu before I visit. We ordered a second round and my partner got a Spelchck and I got a Table Talk Blueberry. They were both good, but we preferred our first selections. We had an awesome server who knew the beers pretty well to make recommendations. I'll definitely visit again. read more

Bring your Growlers!!! It's much cheaper than the neighbourhood liquor stores and sure hell much better. If you are a big group know that space might be an issue esp if the weather is not outdoorsy. The outdoor patio is nice but might not be ideal for a group of more than 8. As for the beers: New England ipa was a bit sweet for me however the Be Hoppy one is great if you don't care about the intricacies. Nice options and even have summer shandy now that the weather is hotter. They can collaborate with some food truck maybe(like a few in the DC area I have seen) if they don't wanna grow their kitchen. My favorite brewery in Worcester (so far!). It's small-ish inside but also has patio seating for when it finally gets warm for a second in Massachusetts. We usually get a flight to try out any new or seasonal favorites. And while I continue to try them all, I still claim Be Hoppy as my favorite. The staff here is always great - polite, fun, and appearing to enjoy what they do. Although the pretzels can be hit or miss, I'm glad they offer something to snack on. I lived in Worcester between 1977 and 1987 and sure wish that Wormtown Brewery was there when I was! We had a very nice visit on Saturday and enjoyed a glass of 'Blizzard of 78' (English Style Brown Ale) and a glass of MPL (Mass Produced Lager). The beers were excellent and I picked up a Blizzard six-pack to take home. The Taproom is spacious with a lot of seating, and there's also a side room to handle the overflow on busy afternoons and nights. They have a pretty nice souvenir selection, and a cooler for you to grab your cans and bottles to go. There was a steady flow of customers walking in (especially quite a few college age women !!) to grab a flight or fill a growler, or sit and chill. This used to be my favorite stop after work. Wormtown always has a nice variety of supurb beer on tap including seasonals. I met a couple here that was doing a 100 Brewery tour of the united States and wormtown made their priority list, #99 in fact. So im not the only one who enjoys this place! Wormtown really has a chill atmoshere and since Covid they added outdoor space, a quality selection of food, and you can order on your phone and never have to leave your seat! Can't get much better. The staff serving the outdoor area are great whereas the bartenders in the new bar area leave a lot to be desired from an attitude standpoint. I admit I'm not much of a beer person, but Wormtown just might make me become one. The place was surprisingly empty for a Friday night, but we had a great time nonetheless. Beers are available in a variety of serving sizes, including a perfectly small 6oz amount which is absolutely PERFECT for those who want to taste a lil' bit of everything without committing to just one beer for the night (sampler kind of deal) or for those who simply don't want to drink too much. Did I mention they cost $3? Sign me up. I had the Be Hoppy which was very smooth. The place is vibey and spacious with a LOT of seating in both first & second floors. The staff were also incredibly friendly, almost too friendly - they let us finish our chess game at 10:30pm when they were supposed to close at 10pm Will definitely be back for another beer (and rematch) soon! read more

Ok I admit, an update is overdue. My relationship with Wormtown Brewery has gotten significantly better since my last review. I have been back a few times and have been treated with respect, and have enjoyed great beer in good company. I still stand by that old review, it was a truly unpleasant experience. I avoided that lady that was rude to me my first time there during the few times I've been back. I haven't seen her in the past few months. I popped in for a beer with a friend about a year ago and stumbled upon their Holiday sweater party and made a few friends! It was great! Will there be one this year? I was given a tour that night of the facility and a beer on the house by one of the ladies named Brie who was very lovely and knowledgeable. The whole experience was lovely. The staff I've since interacted with are friendly and chill. Feels like we're all just hangin' out, which provides a welcoming ambiance. Live music a plus for sure. I was just here last week with a group from work, it was nice. I appreciate the service now and as always, the beer is great. I can't wait until the Buddha's Juice comes back! -Cheers. read more

The news that the clowns from Jacks Abbey have bought Wormtown has prompted my rating . They had a skunked keg of blood orange at Fenway and they kept serving it , even though myself and others told them it was bad . No refund was offered even after Fenway staff instructed them to remove that keg from service . read more
