This is definitely an overdue review (I have a new dental insurance so I have to see a different dentist). During the COVID pandemic, I had to find a dentist who (1) lives closer to where I live and (2) accepts my dental insurance at the time. I was drawn to this office because Dr. Yang herself will clean your teeth (patients also have the alternative option to see a hygienist instead). [Parking]: Easy and free parking. Pro tip - there's a parking lot in the back (via Arcadia Ave) so no need to park in the front lot (via W Duarte Ave) because the front lot can actually be packed. [Service]: Very friendly staff. At the end of each service, patients fill out a postcard and the card serves as a reminder for the next appointment. [Process]: New patients typically takes about 15 minutes to fill out forms. Dr. Yang always do a great job on cleaning teeth and the overall routine teeth cleaning process usually takes less than 45 minutes. In addition, Dr. Yang also perform neck screening and inspect for possible swollen lymph nodes. She also doesn't overly pressure her patients and personally each visit was an efficient and straightforward experience. Expect a more traditional / old-school dentist visit so no TV screens on the ceiling to watch Netflix shows. [Conclusion]: This is a great dental office for anyone who's looking for a no-nonsense routine cleaning experience. read more

Dr. Yang helped(saved) me twice during Covid. My eight year old son cracked a tooth and was experiencing tooth pain. This was last year during the height of Covid. We called his regular dentist but they were closed due to the pandemic. So we called around and a lot of places weren't taking new patients and we didn't want to take him to the hospital ER with Covid going around. Thankfully, Dr. Yang called me after I left a message. She saw him right away and pulled his cracked baby tooth out. My son is fearful of any needles. She assured him he wouldn't feel any pain. She was right! She numbed his mouth and five minutes later my son was pain free after the cracked tooth was pulled. The second time I saw her, it was for me. I cracked my tooth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and wanted to wait to get vaccinated before taking care of it (I am the only one available to watch my kids so I couldn't risk getting sick). I began feeling a toothache and it couldn't wait any longer. I called Dr. Yang. She took x-rays and told me I needed a root canal. I felt minimal discomfort during the procedure. My mouth is on the small side, so my jaw was getting sore after opening wide for an hour. She saw I had some discomfort and proceeded to take a 5-10 minute break for my jaw to relax. The root canal was a success and I am to normal. No more pain! Dr. Yang is a great dentist. She is gentle, accommodating, and professional. She makes sure your visit is as pain-free as possible. Highly recommended! Note for people worried about dental visits during Covid: They only see one patient at a time, they take your temperature, and ask you to fill out a health questionnaire. I have been seeing Dr. Yang for several years now and have always appreciated the great dentistry and how personable she and her office staff are. What makes this office super special is how they go above and beyond for their patients. I had to change insurance companies during the Covid pandemic and my new insurance company would not cover special dentistry for 12 months. if I could give 10 stars, I would. I first went to Dr. Yang, a year and and a half ago, when 2 other dentists wanted to extract two teeth and give me expensive implants. BTW, I've always taken good care of my teeth, but this was just a result of several circumstances coming together, including age. I knew my mother would be rolling over in her grave if I took advice to let my teeth be extracted. And it took a bit of detective work, but I finally found Dr. Yang, who practices, good old-fashioned dentistry, but with all the modern technology. She wanted to save my teeth, just as much as I wanted to, and now I have a perfectly healthy mouth, and all of my own teeth. I have a horribly ridiculous phobia of dentists. I have had too many cavities, root canals done and crowns put in since I was a teenager. Old root canals were almost always found to be infected/poorly done by subsequent dentists (pain/x-rays). After my 2nd baby was born 8+ years ago, I avoided dentists like the plague! I just 'dealt with' discomfort, abscesses, and 2 cracked and fractured teeth. I was using holistic methods (oil pulling, essential oils, supplements) to deal with a bad infection surrounding one (of 2) fractured molar. It caused swelling in the gums (been swollen for years but was getting significantly worse) which also started to spread to my cheekbones. Google self-help search results lit a big fire under my butt (I might DIE and leave my 2 kids motherLESS) so I found several dentists, one being Dr. Yang through Yelp. Though there were only a few reviews, they were glowing reviews stressing how gentle, kind and professional she was. Ahead of time, I KNEW that I was going to have to extract the fractured molar. It was splintered to bits and below the gum line!! I was afraid that she was going to have to cut my gums to get it out. Fast forward, the molar was extracted without drama. It took about 6 weeks to heal completely. (I accidentally hit the still healing gum tissue with the stream from my water flosser though. Be careful!!!) As of this review, I NEED TO schedule another appointment! The last, lower molar, next to the one extracted keeps chipping away and is a bit sensitive (acidic/crunchy food). AND the upper, fractured molar on the right-side of my mouth needs to be extracted bc it's grinding away deeper and deeper (eating pistachios about 2 weeks ago made it super sore). Why is this review so freaking detailed??? Bc it might help someone to take the LEAP like I did. I read the review from "John"... which helped me to choose Dr. Yang. Hopefully, my unnecessarily detailed review will help someone who is scared/undecided to come see Dr. Yang! The young lady working the front desk was very friendly also! I want to thank Dr. Yang and staff for seeing my son right away for a tooth ache. My son at first was scared and nervous. Dr. Yang managed to put him at ease. He would end up needing a tooth pulled that couldn't be saved. I had been to another office where they had told me his tooth would need a root canal and a crown. Waiting for an authorization led to him having a severe tooth ache. Dr. Yang showed me the x-ray she took and explained to me the reasons the tooth couldn't be saved. I couldn't believe another office had suggested unnecessary dental work for a tooth that couldn't be saved. She successfully took out my sons tooth and not a single tear from my son. He said he felt nothing and literally walked out with a smile. I now take my kids to Dr. Yang for all their dental needs. She is also currently seeing my oldest son for his orthodontic treatment. I have been seeing Dr. Yang for a little more than a year, and so far it's been a great experience. She is nice and patient, always taking the time to answer my questions without rushing. She is also incredibly skilled and up-to-date with the latest technologies. I used to experience a lot of pain during teeth cleaning but with Dr Yang, it's been almost painless (she uses a combination of ultrasonic and old-fashioned cleaning methods but I suspect it's because she is just more skilled). I am not quite used to writing a long review in Yelp but this time I feel fully obliged to share my awesome experience with Dr. Yang's treatment. I believe that she is still the best dentist I ever met in my last twenty years experience with dentists. She deserves more than a 5-star. If there is 10-star, that would be my rating. :) The first time I received service from Dr. Yang was almost twenty years ago, in the winter of 1999. I was a poor graduate student in Beijing preparing to study for my Ph.D. in the US and wanted a thorough dental exam. The intention was to fix any potential problem before coming to the US with a long-term assurance to avoid the notoriously high dental cost (especially compared to other countries, you bet) because we would not have good dental insurance as a Ph.D. student. I was referred to Dr. Yang by a friend. No doubt, my experience was such a wonderful one. Dr. Yang was so gentle, so patient at first encounter. She had a very thorough examination and precisely describe the problems of my little-treated teeth (it was not uncommon that many people did not get frequent high-quality dental service in a developing country :) ). At first, I was nervous about my problems. But I felt very comfortable when she communicated the problems with me, as her explanation was very precise and in plain language that was easy to understand to even a layman like me. She then carefully discussed a treatment plan with me based on my urgent schedule and very limited budget. What I remembered was that 1). she had a thorough deep cleaning, and then 2). filled some severe cavities which almost exposed my nerve which caused pain and sourness whenever I was exposed to cold, hot or sour food/drink. The process was rapid and painless, it was done in no time even before I noticed anything. I was very relaxed until I was told everything was set and I should be safe for years to come if I take care of the teeth from then on. Magically, I not only felt whole freshness in my mouth, INDEED, I no longer suffered from the pain in my cavity for the coming years of my Ph.D. study. It was like I got some brand new teeth. During those many years, I almost forgot that I had a severe cavity and almost forgot Dr. Yang :). I happily enjoyed all kinds of delicious food without having to visit any dentist. And every time I visited my local dentist for a routine cleaning, I heard compliments on the quality of work of the cavity. You are not AWARE unless you DARE to COMPARE! But I only fully realized her superior quality when I had a comparison. Almost 12 years later, I visited a local dentist in Riverside and the dentist said the filling material was wearing out and suggested me to refill on the surface. The refill looked beautiful and I did not feel much for the first month. But after the first month, I felt very sensitive to even the tap water, not to mention the hot and sour soup (one of my favorites in the buffet). I went back and the dentist did some extra work and I visited many other dentists through the years, but it never fixed the problem. I had to live with it for many years without much improvement. Only then, I realized how lucky I was when I got the first treatment from Dr. Yang. I have been searching for dentists with same quality but ended up in futile. Eventually, I learned from my friends that Dr. Yang also came to the US to continue her dental education. She entered the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry and earned her DDS degree there. I was so happy to hear that Dr. Yang just moved to LA and started her own clinic here. The first thing I did after hearing this was to schedule a visit to her office and get my suffering teeth diagnosed and treated again by her, even though I have already moved out from LA to northern California and had to drive 360 miles to visit her. She fixed the tooth that was bothering me with a nice filling instead of a cap as the other dentist recommended. I felt great after that. Just as expected, I felt so lucky to get the best dental service again. The only difference is that Dr. Yang is much more experienced now after 20 years of practice in dentistry. The office staff were also very friendly and helpful and the office is located in a very nice community to just add a few. I believe that a long-term trust is built on quality experience and a good dentist will really impact one's quality of life. Dr. Yang just moved to the area but I am 100% sure that she is one of the best dentists (at least to me, she beats every single dentist I ever met in last twenty years). It may take time for the new patients to get to know her in the new community but I bet you will not regret your experience with Dr. Yang. At least for me, I have already scheduled my family to visit her again. read more
