The lady with the attitude and horrible customer service.

I was glad to have this place in the neighborhood however after returning home to eat I noticed that my rice was still hard and not cooked all the way through, I called the restaurant and asked what could they do. They said that I could come back and get a large rice. Now, wait one second. You mean to tell me that you're going to offer me additional uncooked rice. You've got to be kidding me. I took the food back up there and they immediately started looking for reasons not to refund me saying that I at some of the steak. No shit, I tasted my food. How else would I know if something is prepared correctly? There were a few guest dining inside and I mentioned this to them as well since these people think they can refuse to refund people their hard earned money. The finally settled with me and refunded my card but it was not without attitude and a horrible display of customer service. Usually I'm willing to give establishments second chances however, this one I'm completely through with. After this encounter, I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Buyer beware!

Really good Asian food. The sushi is definitely the star here for me. The dragon roll is amazing. The staff is really nice and genuine. We go there a lot and have tried a few items. The egg rolls and gyoza are really great too! This is our go to for sushi close to home! Great place!

Crab Rangoon - The image shows a plate of fried crab rangoons with a small cup of red dipping sauce, likely sweet and sour or chili sauce. A person's hand is holding one of the rangoons, lifting it from the plate. The plate has a decorative design with cherry blossom motifs. The setting appears to be a restaurant, with a dark table surface and a water bottle visible in the background.

Not sure why this place isn't more busy! The food is SO GOOD AND SO FRESH! Highly highly recommend

a plate of food on a table - The image shows a white, decorative plate containing several fried wontons dusted with powdered sugar. A small cup of red dipping sauce and a small container of soy sauce are placed on the plate. The plate is set on a dark table, with a blurred background. The presentation suggests a serving of Asian-style appetizers, likely at a casual dining restaurant.

St. John really needs to step up their game. Probably the only con in this area is the lack of food options. Hubby and I sat in last night and this restaurant is not set up for dine in. Styrofoam plates and plastic everything. The filling in the crab ragoon was not good, did not taste like crab at all California roll tasted as it should. The miso soup had the world's tiniest tofu pieces. Rice tasted like instant rice. But, I would order (to go) their express hibachi options chicken and vegetables tasted fresh. Customer service was good though!

    Sunday August 23, 2020 Party Tray pt1 - 7 Classic Sushi Rolls

This Review is for Sunday august 24, 2020 So today was the first time my Lady and I gave this establishment a try, based on 7 reviews I decided to give them a try and see how they were. So when we go there, the parking lot was basically empty, only vehicles coming and going was the door dash person. These guys are trying to take precautionary measures like any other business out there because of covid. They got their menus on a table, bottle of hand sanitizer on the table as well. On the window, they have a sign asking customers to place an order by phone. So when we got there, my lady was going to ask a question, then she seen the menus on the table. She came back, then we phoned asking a question about one their party trays we were thinking of ordering. So We placed an order for the following: Shrimp Yaki Soba I will say I loved how these noodles were made. The dish has soft noodles, broccoli, zucchini and celery in the dish. I have to say was yummy and I would definitely get it again. As for the Sushi, we got one their party trays that had 7 classic Sushi Rolls and 3 Special Rolls. 7 Classic rolls: California Roll Tuna Roll Salmon Roll Eel Avocado Roll Alaska Roll Shrimp Mango Roll Kani Mango Roll 3 Special Rolls: Rich Salmon Roll Rainbow Roll Atomic Bomb Roll Overall everything but 2 rolls tasted great, flavor was there. For some reason both the Tuna and Salmon rolls had tasted fishy. I made a comment to my lady and well when she tasted it, she said she tasted the fishy taste on the see weed wrap not the fish, so like the person I am, I took one the sushi pieces apart and tried the seaweed by itself and had to spit it back up. The seaweed for those two rolls were tanish not 100% green like then should be, so my partner was correct it was not the fish, but the seaweed that tasted fishy. I am unseen if anyone from that business reads these reviews, but recommend them keep an eye on inventory on what is and is not fresh. Who ever your sushi chef is, should be checking this on daily to make sure this does not happen, things like this can get a customer sick. this is why I gave them the 3 star rating mainly based on 2 rolls we had for the Tuna and Salmon rolls. Other than that issue, everything else was fine. so if going to give them a try, make sure to look over your order if you can, and well hopefully no one has the same experience we did with the seaweed being bad. By looking at my photos you would not be able to tell anything was bad until you tried the tuna or salmon, but things like this happen as a hit or miss. I am unsure if we would try them again, due to this mistake they made, there is no way to say if it would happen again or not.

Party tray of sushi. 3 specialty and 7 classic.

Hands down the best sushi in "the region." Honestly, probably one of the best restaurants in northwest Indiana, from a food quality standpoint. We've ordered probably 3 or 4 times (delivery) and haven't been disappointed with a single thing. The udon, lo mein, and sushi were excellent. The beef was so tender and not overcooked, like most Asian places. Favorite rolls have been the peppered tuna and spicy girl rolls. This is the only place in the area we enjoy sashimi. So fresh! Comparable to Chicago quality sushi. Also, odd, but notable was the New York cheesecake slice. So creamy an unexpectedly delicious. I've referred at least 4 friends to order sushi from here and they've all over it and claim it's their new favorite sushi in northwest Indiana as well. When we host friends, we order from here. This place gets a solid 5 stars and a happy, loyal customer

Unfortunately, what should have been a special family evening turned into a disappointing and unacceptable experience. When my son and his family arrived, they were told they had to remain in the waiting area. He politely asked why they couldn't be seated inside and was told it was because their party exceeded four people. When my husband and I arrived shortly after, I asked the same question and was given the exact same explanation. However, the dining area was nearly empty -- only two couples were seated inside at the time. Shortly afterward, a larger family (five or more people) walked in and was immediately seated indoors. At that point, it was clear that the reasoning given to us was inconsistent. After I addressed the situation, another staff member stepped in, apologized, and attempted to make things right, even offering a complimentary drink. While I acknowledge that effort, the issue was not about a free drink. It was about how my family was treated from the start. The way my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren were initially handled was unacceptable and left a lasting impression. Good food does not excuse poor or inconsistent treatment. This experience reflects a need for better communication, consistency, and customer service standards. Because of this, I will not be returning. I hope this is taken seriously so that other families do not experience the same treatment.

I don't eat sushi or seafood. So the waitress watched us the whole time to make sure we weren't sharing with each other. So if you don't eat everything they will charge you for whatever left. But you cannot take the leftovers even after paying for it. So they will literally charge you to throw away the food. The food was ok, nothing special in flavor. But the service and the treatment was far worse.

I ordered sushi and my friend got the Udon noodles. Both yum. The sushi is NOT made with too much rice. Really just the perfect amount. Plated so nicely. Just a note. The hibachi is not a "cook at your own table" or a "cook at a grill in a common area" hibachi. They cook it in the back and serve it hot. The to go bags are SUPERIOR. They're a really cute bright orange and reusable. I love reusable. I can only imagine that they'll be so high quality while they're successful. I hope they're successful always. What was supposed to be a great first visit to a new restaurant turned into a very disappointing…read moreexperience. While the sushi itself tasted about an 8/10, the menu is extremely misleading and borders on false advertising. I went with my pregnant best friend, who clearly stated to the waiter as soon as we sat down that she was expecting. The menu separates items into vegetable, non-raw, and raw sushi categories, so naturally you would assume everything under "non-raw" is safe. That was not the case. We started with vegetable gyoza and clear soup--both fine. Our fried rice and noodles arrived next, but both were bland and lacked flavor. When our sushi arrived, the waiter pointed out which rolls were raw and which were non-raw, so we began eating with confidence. After we had about three bites of our rolls, my best friend became suspicious of the "non-raw" roll she ordered and asked the waiter for confirmation. Instead of immediately checking with the chef, he looked at the menu himself and guessed and came back to us with an answer. Only after that did he go speak to the manager and chef. What we were told afterward was alarming: the chef stated they never cook spicy tuna because of how oily it would be, and the manager claimed it was "50% raw, 50% cooked." Both responses were unacceptable, especially given that the roll was listed under the non-raw section and we had made it very clear that there was a pregnancy involved. The manager then told us that "next time" we should specifically ask her what is raw or not--completely dismissing the seriousness of the situation and taking no accountability for the risk posed to my pregnant friend. Instead of apologizing, she began suggesting alternative rolls and insisted on explaining what we should have done rather than acknowledging the mistake on their end. She took the sushi back, said she would remove only the raw roll for my friend from the bill, and later attempted to bring the roll back out for me, offering to wrap it up. At that point I no longer trusted anything brought back from the kitchen. The issue was NEVER the cost of the meal. The problem is that several items under the non-raw section actually contain raw fish, and the staff showed very little knowledge--or care--about the importance of this distinction. The waiter failed to make a note that my friend was pregnant, despite that being the first thing mentioned when we were seated. The manager showed zero accountability, lacked professionalism, and never once apologized. To add to everything, the restaurant was freezing--67° inside while it was 28° outside. Overall, the lack of attentiveness, the inaccurate menu, and the dismissive attitude from management made this one of the most concerning dining experiences I've had. I hope others are aware of these issues before choosing to dine here.
