The it had good flavor and the sauce that came with it was light. The shrimp fried rice for $11 was enough for two people. It had at least six large shrimp in the rice. The only thing I think could've made it better would be some peas. Love the Godzilla roll. Shared it with my lunch date. I know it adds flare to the role when the shrimp tales are sticking out the end but, it makes it difficult to eat. The ginger was good. The wasabi could've been a little bit hotter. We got seated right away and didn't have to wait long for a server to take our order. They did a good job of making this an Asian restaurant since it was a brewpub before. This cute restaurant is tucked back from the street located in a strip mall. It's a big restaurant with cute floral decor. Friendly hostess & server. I ordered the vegetable gyzo, Godzilla roll, & shrimp fried rice to share with my husband. Each dish came out individually & quickly. Beautiful presentation. Absolutely loved the Godzilla roll. The vege gyzo was perfectly soft & not chewy. Very good. The shrimp fried rice was huge. Nice sized shrimp. It was very salty though. Tasted like there was a lot of fish sauce in it possibly. Still tasty. The menu is extensive with a large cocktail & sake selection also. Prices are very reasonable. Our lunch was $36.38 without the tip. read more

Adorable little sport in town. They're pretty new and just very good. The interior is so well done. So pretty. SO pretty. The service is sweet. The food is tasty and fresh. I ordered sushi and my friend got the Udon noodles. Both yum. The sushi is NOT made with too much rice. Really just the perfect amount. Plated so nicely. Just a note. The hibachi is not a "cook at your own table" or a "cook at a grill in a common area" hibachi. They cook it in the back and serve it hot. The to go bags are SUPERIOR. They're a really cute bright orange and reusable. I love reusable. I can only imagine that they'll be so high quality while they're successful. I hope they're successful always. Super cute spot for sushi!!! It is a very happy floral decorated restaurant with plenty of space between tables. The space is big yet intimate. We only went for lunch. The Kumo box #2 was beautifully presented with seaweed salad, edamame, nigiri and about 6 roll pieces. It also included delicious miso soup. I really loved the nigiri. For fun we had crab rangoons which are made fresh in house. A little more filling would be great but I'd still order them again and again because it was so good. Service from Bri was excellent. She was attentive and so nice. I was freezing and she brought me a cup of hot water because I'm not a fan of tea. I will totally come back. read more

We came In Sunday at 1pm and tried to order lunch special was told not today, I stated it was on the menu they gave us. Then we tried to order bento boxes, was denied saying lunch only, I asked when was lunch? 11-2:30 I said it's 1pm she then said not today. This was our first visit to Kumo because the family wanted sushi to celebrate a special occasion. The pork gyoza was so good, we ordered a second plate. Our two year old ate a whole bowl of miso soup and then got seconds. We ordered four different types of rolls and the steak fried rice. It was delicious and beautifully presented. What was supposed to be a great first visit to a new restaurant turned into a very disappointing experience. While the sushi itself tasted about an 8/10, the menu is extremely misleading and borders on false advertising. I went with my pregnant best friend, who clearly stated to the waiter as soon as we sat down that she was expecting. The menu separates items into vegetable, non-raw, and raw sushi categories, so naturally you would assume everything under "non-raw" is safe. That was not the case. We started with vegetable gyoza and clear soup--both fine. Our fried rice and noodles arrived next, but both were bland and lacked flavor. When our sushi arrived, the waiter pointed out which rolls were raw and which were non-raw, so we began eating with confidence. After we had about three bites of our rolls, my best friend became suspicious of the "non-raw" roll she ordered and asked the waiter for confirmation. Instead of immediately checking with the chef, he looked at the menu himself and guessed and came back to us with an answer. Only after that did he go speak to the manager and chef. What we were told afterward was alarming: the chef stated they never cook spicy tuna because of how oily it would be, and the manager claimed it was "50% raw, 50% cooked." Both responses were unacceptable, especially given that the roll was listed under the non-raw section and we had made it very clear that there was a pregnancy involved. The manager then told us that "next time" we should specifically ask her what is raw or not--completely dismissing the seriousness of the situation and taking no accountability for the risk posed to my pregnant friend. Instead of apologizing, she began suggesting alternative rolls and insisted on explaining what we should have done rather than acknowledging the mistake on their end. She took the sushi back, said she would remove only the raw roll for my friend from the bill, and later attempted to bring the roll back out for me, offering to wrap it up. At that point I no longer trusted anything brought back from the kitchen. The issue was NEVER the cost of the meal. The problem is that several items under the non-raw section actually contain raw fish, and the staff showed very little knowledge--or care--about the importance of this distinction. The waiter failed to make a note that my friend was pregnant, despite that being the first thing mentioned when we were seated. The manager showed zero accountability, lacked professionalism, and never once apologized. To add to everything, the restaurant was freezing--67° inside while it was 28° outside. Overall, the lack of attentiveness, the inaccurate menu, and the dismissive attitude from management made this one of the most concerning dining experiences I've had. After a traumatic situation, this was the first (and last) time at this new local restaurant. I came into the restaurant for a girls' lunch with my best friend. I am a 32-year-old mom of a 2-year-old and also 7 months pregnant, so lunch dates are rare and special. Upon sitting down looking at their large menu, Special Rolls have two columns: Non-Raw and Raw. Although this was the first time I have seen this, I started looking at the Non-Raw rolls, since being pregnant eating uncooked or raw fish can be very harmful to the unborn child due to possible bacteria per CDC. I explicitly told our waiter I was pregnant and confirmed these are cooked rolls. I ordered the "Kirin" roll (a shrimp tempura roll). When the waiter dropped off the food, he pointed out which one mine was, further confirming it was cooked. After about 3 bites, I started wondering what the topping was. I asked my server; he didn't know. After scrambling with the menu and then asking the chef, he confirmed, while looking very nervous, it was spicy salmon...which is uncooked. He offered to bring his manager over due to him also being dumbfounded, which is where this story gets worse. Although not everyone has compassion, this woman takes the cake on being apathetic. She immediately comes over and asks if she can recommend any other cooked or vegetarian rolls. I said "no" as the only thing I wanted to do is go throw up the food I ate due to the dangers of consuming raw fish. She mentioned "next time you come in, ask me and I can tell you" when I informed her I had already done that with the server.I was perplexed as to why a customer would have to ask to speak to a manager for a recommendation. She never apologized or took accountability. She then said "I will take this off the bill" and took the plate that also had my friend's roll. She came back a few minutes later asking about the 2nd roll, and then asked my friend if she wanted her to box it after it has been in their kitchen. No, thank you. The bill was $37. This was not about the money at all; it's the principle of the situation. It actually was insulting that she charged us for a root beer, vegetable gyoza, side rice, side noodles, and 70% of my friend's raw roll. This obviously ruined lunch, which once again, we only had about 3 bites of each roll. Upon coming home, my husband called and spoke to the manager, where she proceeded to not take accountability and was arguing with him, saying, "We took off the roll" (conversation has been recorded) and never once apologizing. She did end up refunding the $37. So many mistakes were made that could have easily been avoided, especially with a new restaurant. To conclude, I have already told this story to several people who are shocked at the manager's response and the misleading menu. Mistakes can happen, BUT what you do after the mistake is what changes the tone. Overall, the food was subpar, the atmosphere was depressing and very cold. read more

I've had two very different experiences with this place. Takeout was great - food was ready fast, and very good. This was on a week night and the restaurant was not busy. We decided to try dine in on a Saturday night. And I guess they haven't quite figured it out yet. The restaurant was freezing, which doesn't make for a great experience. And it took over an hour to get our food- which was just a few orders of sushi. Again, the sushi was good but after waiting so long and in the cold, it didn't taste as good as it would have if it had come out after a reasonable wait or in a more comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress kept checking on us to see if we were still "doing ok" with zero apologies or explanations on the wait until an hour had passed. Which honestly felt a little comical by the third time sitting there with our waters. At least our 7 year old's noodles came out relatively fast. Certainly not her fault on the delay and she was lovely but the general feel of customer service was lacking given the wait time. Our takeaway is - we are happy to have some good sushi for takeout, but we won't be coming back for dine in on a weekend anytime soon! read more
