Jill Yamada, who I have to say is every bit as knowledgeable and friendly as her dad.

I was amazed by the more advanced equipment compared to my previous optometrist. The optometrist who saw me was very quick in figuring out the proper contact prescription just after one trial and adjustment. It's a bit difficult with with needing to adjust for multi focal plus astigmatism. So happy I finally found a local optometrist that I'm comfortable with.

This office does get quite busy so expect your appointment to take a little longer than you would…read moreexpect. I would recommend you to bring your old glasses/contacts prescription so the optometrist will know where to start with providing you the correct prescription. I unfortunately did not bring my old prescription to my appointment. I reviewed my old prescription compared to the one I received from this office and noticed my new prescription is weaker. What I like about this office is that the optometrist listened to my concerns regarding my old contact lenses and was able to provide me with a better brand. I opted to purchase a pair of glasses from this office and it took about two weeks for them to be ready. If you think you will need to make adjustments to your glasses, you must schedule a time to meet with an optician. This is the first time I have come across an optometry office requiring you to schedule a time to make adjustments to your glasses. I had a family member pick up my glasses so I wasn't able to see my glasses until later in the day. I noticed the lenses were a lot thicker than I was used to. My prescription is pretty high so I opted for the high index eyeglass lenses. High index lenses cost a lot more than normal lenses. The glasses I received definitely weren't high index and the way the lenses were shaved down didn't look right at all. I had quite a bit of a back and forth exchange with the office about these lenses not being correct. The office was telling me that these are high index lenses and the lab recommended I get a roll and polish for an extra charge. I have never gotten a roll and polish for any of my glasses. I really had to voice my concerns before the manager jumped in and agreed to send the glasses back to the lab for new high index lenses. It's a bit inconvenient that I had to request time off work to drop off the glasses and then schedule a time with the optician to try on the new glasses. Also, it took about another 2 weeks to get the correct glasses. However, i'm glad the office made things right by finally listening to my concern. The lenses to my new glasses are exactly what I was expecting. Overall, this office isn't the worst place. It's about average. At the end of the day, the office will try to fix the mistake. The optometrist I had listened to my concerns which is a plus as most optometrist just shrug your concerns off.

I usually goto the fair oaks location but they didn't have an eye dr there that day so they referred me to the florin rd location and i was pleasantly surprised how accommodating and helpful the owner huyen and rosa were. I was able to get my trials the same day which was amazing since i have a high astigmatism and i could see so much clearer! Also huyen had picked these eyeglasses out for me that fitted my face just right. The eye dr that did my exam was nice and answered all my questions perfectly and he threw in some suggestions to help with my vision. Overall i had a very good experience at this location and i would recommend this business to anyone. Anthony

Horrible experience! I first visited the store on November 6 to be seen for progressive lenses…read more When I received the glasses, the measurement was so off that I could not see out of them. Despite not being able to see, the store manager, Lisa, told me I needed to wear them for two weeks before the optometrist would see me again. After the required two-week period (sick and nauseous from being dizzy from glasses), I returned and saw the optometrist. Despite my complaints, the prescription remained unchanged. I was measured again for progressive lenses and received a second pair about two weeks later. The measurement was still incorrect. I had to wear them down my nose for another two weeks just to see anything at all. I returned to the store and asked them to contact the El Dorado Hills location, as I had previously been able to see at least partially from my old prescription from 2 years ago. At this point, I was warned this would be the last time they would remake my glasses, despite ongoing issues caused by incorrect measurements and prescriptions. I asked them to return to my previous El Dorado Hills prescription. I was also remeasured for progressive lenses by another employee, who finally appeared to measure the progressive placement correctly. In January, I received glasses made using my old prescription. Unfortunately, I was reminded why I came in the first place--I still cannot see clearly through the right lens. I then went to Kaiser for a second opinion. Their optometrist determined that the prescription from your store was completely incorrect. My right eye needed a stronger prescription, yet your optometrist had reduced it in both eyes. Kaiser demonstrated the difference using test lenses, and the clarity difference was significant. Throughout this process, I repeatedly complained to Lisa. Rather than help resolve the situation, she lectured me and repeatedly blamed me, saying the prescription was "what I saw in the chair." At Kaiser, however, I observed a different, more accurate result. Lisa repeatedly emphasized her professionalism and the seriousness with which she takes her job, yet she was rude and condescending in most of our interactions. Your staff measured me incorrectly twice, and when I needed lenses made a third time, I was told they were doing me a favor. This is unacceptable. I strongly believe the equipment or procedures at this location are faulty. I am now left with a $500 pair of glasses that I cannot see out of, even after insurance.

If you want an easy, welcoming and knowledgeable experience, come see Dr.Yee!…read more I came across his office thru way of my in-network list and also noticed he was next door to my usual grocery plaza so added bonus. Its a much smaller office than the glitzy, uber high-tech offices you see now but has been open since '85 and i can see why. The front desk employees are super polite and welcoming. Dr. Yee was informative the entire way through my exam and also got to know me at the same time. He explained every exam (what he was doing and more importantly WHY he was doing it and what it was testing.) Hearing that he still has clients that have been going to him since its opening was wonderful news. Choosing new frames was another easy process and they have quite a few selections to choose from. The gentleman helping me also wasnt trying to push the most expensive options on me or try to add on every little thing he could. He allowed me to make my own decisions with no hassle and simply informed me of what the smartest option would be for me.

The Dr. himself is good, but his frames prices are outrageously high. They are definitely in it to…read morecharge your insurance to the max. A pair of titanium frames totaled over $400 plus basic polycarbonate lenses (not high index, no anti-glare, no anti-scratch, only standard transitional lenses which is covered in our standard VSP plan) another $300 so ONE pair of glasses totaled $750 or so, and our insurance covered about $500 or so leaving $250 of which my insurance (husband has his plan, I have my plan) covered another $100 or so, which still left us with a balance of $150 or so! That's extremely expensive, so we definitely will not buy glasses from here again. We'd rather go online or to Costco. Insurance is great, but when the system is like price gouging and the retail price of the same frames can be found online/elsewhere for half or even 1/4 of the price, then this kind of price gouging (insurance charging) hurts everyone in the long term, and people wonder why their insurance premium goes up over time... Yikes. We've been to several optometrist and this one's prices are one of the highest.

I never have felt like a number as the service is personal and friendly. I have never felt better cared for at my eye doctor as Dr. Toy will personally call to follow up to make sure that everything is good. One insurance company mandates the use of the lab owned by the INSURANCE company. The doctors staff is so meticulous in reviewing glasses before they leave the office they found poor quality the lab work and returned the glasses! They did this three times until the lab finally got it right and my glasses were perfect. Each time the office called and apolgized for the delay so I was aware of where my prescription was. I was extremely impressed of the detail and customer service (a lesson the insurnance lab should learn as the cause of the problem). Dr. Toy, Arelne, and staff are more like dear friends so as long as Doctor is in practice I am a patient for life.

I love Dr. Toy! He had been my optometrist for years and years before I moved to San Francisco…read more He is such a nice guy who will bend over backwards to help you out. Case in point: I went to Hawaii on vacation and brought only one pair of contact lenses. Of course, one of them pops out while at the beach and became lost forever. It has been quite a few years since I visited Dr. Toy since I see Dr. Lem in SF now. Unfortunately, I only had a prescription for glasses with Dr. Lem and my prescription for contacts was with Dr. Toy. Anyway, so I went to Costco in Hawaii to get replacement contact lenses and found out that Costco requires a prescription faxed from your optometrist. I was out of luck with my current optometrist, so on a whim, I called Dr. Toy. Even though my prescription with him was over a year old, he faxed a renewal prescription to Costco anyway. AND HE'S NOT EVEN MY OPTOMETRIST ANYMORE! If not for Dr. Toy, I would have had to go about squinting and trying not to look crazy with one eye open. The moral of the story is to always bring 2 pairs of contacts with you on vacation and also, to pay a visit to Dr. Toy. However, I'm not sure what the prices for frames are since insurance always paid for mine. Dr. Toy is also a graduate of UC Berkeley, which is the best school ever. So. Yeah.
