The Dr is so skilled at the Novocaine injections that I was amazed. If you can hold it together for about 2 minutes-you'll be fully numb in no time. The procedure itself consisted of one minute of toughing it out while he did the actual pulling. No pain, just pressure and conquering my fear. I can do just about anything for one or two minutes. The rest was downhill from there. Drove myself home with no issues-as I stayed awake for the procedure. It kept me up all night, I would get 15 minutes sleep at best since before waking up. I went to Dr. Barrick on the advice of another neurosurgeon Dr. Oslewski from Misrecordia hospital in New Rochelle for a second opinion on surgery. The best thing I ever did. I decided to go with Dr. Barrick because of his knowledge and minimal invasive surgery. The other Dr. would've kept me in the hospital for a week then in internal rehab for two weeks. Dr. Barrick said I would be back home within two days, not true, I was home within 15 hours from the surgery. He came to my bedside before the surgery and after the surgery, he also took my wife aside which put her at ease. The follow ups were fantastic, he took his time, explained everything and when the insurance company wouldn't give me my bone stimulator he got involved by calling them personally three times. I was seen at the appointed time. The technician, I don't recall her name, she asked a few questions and took notes, and began the preliminary procedures for the doctor. Sanitizing the equipment and wearing PPE. The opthamologist, Dr. Scheer, came into the examination room a few minutes after the technician was finished. The Dr continued with certain tests and measurements. Then went over the prognosis, suggesting corrective procedures to be done in the near future. I feel I was with the doctor, a sufficient amount of time; informed of what was to be done and a follow up appointment made next month. The office runs in a very efficient manner. They are considerate of the patient's time, informing the patient, in plain English, what the condition is, the prognosis, and treatment, if needed, The front office submits Medicare approved amounts for treatments, as well as Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Anthem medical Coverage. Totonelly, one of the finest medical doctors in the Hudson Valley, with over 30 years of experience. In my first visit to Dr. Totonelly an ultrasound was performed on both my legs which helped to identify damaged veins. I was then very well educated by Dr. Totonelly regarding the varicose vein treatment I was to receive to relieve my vascular problems. I was really happy when my Aetna insurance approved the surgery, called Endovenous Ablation. That surgery was done in the office under local anesthetic and no hospitalization was required. It took approximately 45 minutes per leg, which were surgically repaired with a one week interval between the two surgeries. In both instances I was able to walk without any problems the same day of the respective surgeries.
