Maybe because a a steroid shot which he could charge my health plan for 700+ dollars seemed like a better "investment" for his la-de-da office practice than an age old innocuous prescription for a painkiller.

A prescription needed a prior approval after surgery on 6/6 and I am still trying to get it even though I have called and emailed numerous times. I was told on 6/6 that the request was put in, however on 6/7 I spoke with the insurance company and the request was not put in. When I spoke to the nurse about it I was told not to worry, it is not that important of a medication. Then why prescribe it? At that point I reminded the nurse that we were told it was to help the pain and to help him not to use the narcotics so long. The answer was yes, that is true. Seems important to me.

Of course the Orthopedist will recommend what procedure is to be done, based on the patient's condition, diagnosis, test results and other factors. The staff is very conscientious in maintaining sanitary conditions and the patient's wellbeing. I feel very confident going to them. I have close to 20 years of clinical experience working in a large hospital in nyc and have seen a lot situations.
