    Basic Betty with Ketchup

Yay, finally some food on campus that is not very healthy!! They do offer relatively healthy options, though, such as no bun or vegan dog. They are set up in a food truck outside the Campus Market. I love the all beef hotdog, I got the Basic Betty with ketchup. They have sodas and water to drink, although the soda wasn't very cold. I liked that they have a variety of chips, including Lay's Sour Cream & Onion, which are next to impossible to find on campus. Their bun is not the typical hotdog bun, but rather a thick piece of toasted bread with a slice down the center. They offer different sizes of hotdogs, a vegan dog, and sausages with lots of interesting toppings, too. They are open M-Th from 11:00 to 2:00. I suspect this will be my go-to lunch spot.

Best hot dog I have ever had. The buns are amazing and soft. The amount of toppings offered is the best. Prices for just a hotdog or a Combo with a soda and chips is very reasonable and well worth what you pay. They also offer nachos and they are great also. Owners are great people And super friendly.

Stopped on a whim just to check out the menu, so happy we did! I ordered a 1/4 chili dog and it's perfect! The bun is toasted and the hotdog itself is split down the middle and grilled. Payment was super easy with Venmo! Always happy to Support Local and today it hit the spot!

After getting back to my chair and getting the splinters out, the wind whipped up big time. We decided it was time to go. So did everyone else. I decided to park and wait out the traffic. 3 hours later, it hadn't abated, and we needed food. We faced the whipping wind into the parking lot, where a taco truck, a pop-up stir-fry stand, and Heavenly Hotdogs lay in waiting. After seeing the taco truck guys eating hotdogs, we decided to choose Heavenly. I got the Banh Mi dog, which was dressed with pickled veggies, sriracha, and cilantro. I would have loved a lot more of the veggies, so I threw a bunch of onions on top with some mustard. Best of all worlds. An ice-cold can of Diet Coke and a little bag of Cheetos rounded out the feast. I'll definitely stop by if our paths should be lucky enough to cross again.

This place has personality! The customer service from the chap taking our order was good and proper, unlike the bar north of here. We were happy to be given that amount of respect. They also provide donations to local charities that change with the season. Here's our order: Philly Cheese Steak. Very good. 4 out of 5. Could've been less dry overall. BBQ Burger was yummy. 4.5 out of 5. Bbq sauce was unique and smoky. Beef was cooked to a perfect medium well, but did not cover their yummy brioche bun as much. Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cole slaw on the side. 5 out of 5. The House Fried Kettle Chips are good, but we prefer their fries. They are thin sliced goodness, perfectly seasoned and very crispy. (Someone said their loaded fries are to die for.) Lastly, they are a bar as well, but gave off no weird sentiment when we said we did not want drinks. Mad respect for that! All in all, a balanced 5 out of 5 from us!

The outdoor seating gives it a fun, casual vibe, though it was pretty hot when we visited since there's no indoor option. Despite the timing issues, it's a solid spot for a relaxed meal if you don't mind the heat and aren't in a rush.

I went in planning to order the $11.95 cheeseburger combo, but I swerved and got the gourmet western burger combo for $14.49 instead. Excellent decision. The skinny fries with the skins on came out steaming hot, and the burger was fantastic--a big, flavorful patty hanging over the edge of a fresh bun like it had something to prove. No gimmicks, no overthinking, just a solid local burger spot doing burgers right.

It's a small place, not fancy, but it felt friendly and relaxed, the kind of place that doesn't try too hard and knows what it is. Here are the details... *Service: everyone was very friendly. The guy at the front was genuinely nice, but he was pretty confused and confusing when I asked about the daily specials and pricing. He tried to explain it, but it made understanding what was what harder than it should have been. Nothing negative intention-wise at all, just a little chaotic and unclear. *Food: I ordered the burger medium rare, no cheese. It came out medium well with cheese and a very small piece of pineapple. Not exactly what I ordered, but it still tasted good. It had plenty of condiments, lettuce, tomato, a thin slice of ham, and mayonnaise. Flavor-wise it was solid, just not what I asked for. The fries were excellent. Crispy, fresh, and clearly made from real potatoes. They slice whole potatoes in-house with a slicing machine and turn them straight into fries, which I thought was really cool. They also had some kind of seasoning on them that made them even better. They have a lot of good burger options, plus chicken sandwiches, salads, and chicken strips. I liked that there was variety beyond just burgers. They also do a daily special burger for $10.99, combo meals are $13.99, and you can sub onion rings for fries for $0.99, which felt fair. *Ambiance: it's pretty clean, open, and small, about ten tables inside. It felt comfortable and simple. There are a few tables out front and a picnic table under a big tree, which is a nice idea, but it's right off the main street so it's not super peaceful. *Value: it felt like a pretty good value. The pricing made sense for what you get, especially with the daily specials and combo options. Nothing felt overpriced. *Overall: this was a solid but not standout experience. Friendly people, great fries, good burger flavor, but the order accuracy and confusing explanation of specials held it back. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It's a decent stop if you're in the area and want something casual and quick. I added a bunch of pictures to help you get a feel.

This makes total sense knowing that the owners came from San Diego and both worked for PPBC. Being familiar with Wild Fields award-winning brews we settled for the flight and then added some food later. Being a West Coast IPA couple, we were not disappointed with their draft offerings. In addition to IPAs, they have a good representaion of other styles, so there will be something for everyone-as long as they like beer. Wild Fields also puts together a home-brew competion, fuly embracing their community and craft beer roots. The winner gets to brew a batch of their recipe on the house system and this ultra low alcohol, smoked wheat beer was one of the most unique beers I've had. For the food, we had pulled pork and loaded mac-n-cheese. Pulled pork was fine, but I'd prefer more smoke flavor and aroma. For loaded mac, the protein is polish sausage-not something I've seen before. While it somewhat works, I don't think I'd order this again. They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families.
