When you walk into Xugar, there is a nice vibe when you come in. The aesthetic a mix of pink, grey, brick, tile and neon accents. See the photos so you know what I mean. Came in on Monday morning with my friend's 14 year old daughter for the Bring a Friend special that I've seen the past few times I've walked by. The advertisement said "Get 10% off Monday - Wednesday when you bring a friend. This deal is displayed on a sidewalk sign right outside their entrance. It seemed like a great deal for the two of us to get our gloss on. Unfortunately, when I asked about the discount it was promptly DENIED with a flat out "No." I was confused and pointed out that their sign outside says there is a discount. The answer was still a flat NO. What a disappointment. I would have pushed further but I noticed there was a language barrier present. Still, I think with me pointing out the discount, there should have been a professional courtesy. Needless to say, the disappointment ate at me and I cancelled MY Mani/Pedi in light of the unprofessionalism. They had already started on my friend's daughter so I let them finish. This was actually her first time and the ensuing tension made her anxious. Also, one of her cuticles was over trimmed and bled. I know this sometimes happens from time to time, but this was her first time and the sting from this minor injury on top of her anxiety of the tense atmosphere was a bit much for her. It broke my heart to see her tears slipping down her face. I know it will be awhile before she ever tries getting a manicure again. I'm not one to cause drama when I'm disappointed. I simply won't come back to your store /restaurant/use your service/or recommend to anyone. If someone asks me why, I'll let them know my reasons or they can read it on Yelp. read more

Came the 12th of June and got a Builder nail gel. Looked like my tech didn't know what she was doing. She took about 3 hours and then charged me 110 for a mediocre job. The nails were uneven. The nail paint looked too sheen. I was not happy. Aside from that I asked her how long it would take. I came here to do a simple job. The vibe is kinda off putting. Some of the techs have the longest face. Then she rushed the whole thing cause her child was pressuring her towards the end. I came back today July 3rd to get them removed or what was left of what I tried to get off with a different tech, but they were so stuck to my nail, then she tried to send me off with a mediocre removal job wanting to leave visible residue. After I insisted on having the left over removed, she joked that she can't take anymore off cause then she'd be taking off my nail . read more

I loved this place! I was served immediately. It was bright, warm and very clean; the girls were lovely and my nails are beautiful! UPDATE to the below: After my second visit I got an infection on my right toe!!! I was able to clean the pus out of the right side of my toe. I went on Saturday and the pain got worse every day. Today I checked closely and oh wonder inflammation and infection! Never again. :( Avoid this place at all cost!!! I was twice here and only because it's cheap. The receptionist is not quite the most professional starting with speaking Spanish even if I talked in English to him. The ladies who do the nails appear annoyed, they don't make me feel comfortable, but instead rushed and it's painful - no empathy for the customer. Their "pedi spa" package is a joke - don't spend money on it! read more

The manicurist cut a CHUNK out of my big toe. She apologized, but I'm still suffering from this wound days after and it's still not healed. Like she didn't just cut into my toe, she actually cut a chunk out. I was bleeding for the rest of the pedicure AND manicure. They still charged me full price. I will not return and I do not recommend anyone going here. They don't clean their tools very well, just run it under some water. read more

The service get 3-4 stars. The place over all gets a 2 because they have no nail dryers. They had one outside of the salon but I'm not sure if that was broken or if they expected me to stand out in the summer heat on the sidewalk for 30+ mins. Since they sent me out without my nails drying I went to grab my metrocard out of my bag and i smudged my nails. Since I was still outside the store the nail tech came out to help me but when I showed her my smudged nail she just said sorry with bo offer to fit it. I liked the job until that happened...wouldn't recommend It's been 2 days since the services and i now have an infection in both my toe and finger read more

At first I thought everything was okay when I walked in for a pedicure . The lady was kind and nice doing my nails , I noticed the place has no where to actually dry your feet when you get a pedicure . Also a couple of hours later my big toe started hurting and I pushed it aside the next day on New Years I noticed my toe was infected and yellow I've called the nail salon three times already and have been going back and fourth with the owner and two other people . But since I live two hours away and currently working a new job they want me to come in instead of me just sending them pictures and have them return my money . Bad place to get a pedicure . Only been there to get one of my nails fixed on my acrylic set but never gotten my nails some there read more

Worst place to go for acrylic nails. I came in for a pedicure and a new set. The pedicure was good. The acrylic was not only over priced at $35 when normally $25 in most areas of queens. They don't use disposable files and buffers. The girl that was doing my nails seemed like she wasn't licensed because she didn't know how to do a simple fiberglass wrap. They denied me service because she was unprofessional and inexperienced. Wouldn't you complain if she was filing & buffing your skin? I told her many times to be careful and she was careless because of her temperament. Not all nail specialists are inexperienced there, but I wouldn't support this business ever again. Goodbye =) read more

I walked in and a man says hello to me in Spanish I replied in English but he continues to talk to me in Spanish. Ok no biggie I understand Spanish he obviously understands english. He said it's going to be about 10 minutes. That's no problem I pick out a color I sit down to wait. A few minutes after me 3 Spanish women walk in and they're all served before me and he said to be in English now all they all have appointments, which I know is complete BS. Apparently my money wasn't good enough. read more

I had already visited this salon twice before coming across the less than stellar reviews. Both times I paid $25 for a gel frio (cold gel) manicure / pedicure. The cold gel polish lasts well over a week on my hands, stays pristine on my tootsies for weeks! It's some seriously long-lasting product (the brand is CV or something similar, square shaped bottle with a black wand). Yes, the staff is primarily Spanish-speaking, but I have never felt that they were so disinterested or wrapped up in their own convos that they failed to service customers. In fact, the nail techs here do the most detailed pedicures I've ever received. Now, cuticle cutting is automatically done here, you are not asked prior to this being done. If you prefer to have them pushed back, say this at the beginning of the appointment. Make it known. A second location (Xugar 2) opened right across the street. This should alleviate the overcrowding and long waits previous Yelpers experienced. read more

I was super nervous coming here due to the reviews. I went in, and for sure nobody here speaks English so I can see why some people wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Anyway, I had my pedicure done by Juan and he did a superb job taking off the cuticles and hang nails. When it came to the acrylic nails I was super skeptical since he used a method I have never seen before. I normally hate doing acrylic and it comes out super thick and too heavy looking. But these are super natural and just the most amazing nails I've ever had done. Juan is the person to see. Unfortunately he's leaving back to Colombia on November 30th or something like that and I don't know what I'm going to do when he leaves. Other than that this place is good. I paid 65 and gave a 10 dollar tip. read more

I gave it 4 stars because of the price but I got French white tips and I literally just walked right in and was seated promptly and she made my nails look amazing. But I paid 44 dollars just for white tips idk the price is a little too much but the service was great. The first time I ever been to this location and I was seated and treated fast. The girl who did my white tip nails that lasted me such a long time was Arelis. The second time I went I changed up my design and I did the coffin/ballerina nails which Carla did for me. She shape them and painted them beautifully they treated me so good I always come here to do my nails now. read more

WORST NAIL SALON EVER !!! I went there for S&S and the girl who sit near the door ( fat one) mentioned to me that it would be $25. I thought great, I needed my nails to get done. Sitting in just few minutes, she was constantly distracted by the door opening, she constantly had conversation with other worker and was not watching what she was doing. She filed my long nail so short that it didn't make sense get the powder manicure. I assumed she is professional so I didn't say anything. Then she proceeded to pile on layers of powder after powder without filing it down. It looked like a chunk of powder, it was nasty and gross. She got the power tool to drill it down but there was no way you can drill 9 layers of powder and top coat. While trying to figure out how to fix the problem she nicked me and made me bleed. I pointed out the problem and she sprayed alcohol on it. Honestly I was over it. I paid for manicure and walked off without paying her the tip. Laster on my coworker mentioned It was so bad, I shouldnt have paid at all!!!! Btw, the powder came off within 2 hours, understandably since it was layered so much. Waste of money! Please DO NOT GO THERE.PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE!! That fat girl who barely moved is so horrible and I noticed she still works there!!!! I have told everyone who I know NOT TO VISIT THAT SALON!! read more

Worst manicure ever! I went here because my usual mani place had a long wait and I was in a rush. The nail tech seemed frustrated and had her young son sitting next to her while she worked. I've been to both locations a couple of times because they were near me and they are nicely decorated. However, the service is plainly awful. I don't expect a 5 star treatment, but at least some level of work ethic. The workers are constantly talking to each other, or on their phone while working. They complain about being there, about not having eaten lunch, about over time, etc. When I pay to pamper myself with something so simple as a manicure, I do not want to hear this. Also, last time I went, the lady who did my manicure looked annoyed and she ended up cutting me TWICE -_- Oh and they don't take credit cards. What is up with that? It's 2016. Do not waste your time here, absolutely horrible service. Was told appointments should be made so i made one the day of two hours beforehand. I come in they tell me they have no idea what im talking about so they tell me to wait 10 minutes i didnt mind cause I thought it was a short wait- BOY WAS I WRONG. 40 minutes later they finally start doing my nails.. as if things couldn't get worse.. the lady who did my nails took two and a half hours to finish. Constantly bending my finger with that small drill, hurting me. She made my nails sooo thick got nail polish all over my cuticles, shape of the nail I wanted was so uneven. Overpriced nails for a terrible job. I originally wanted a pedicure but my experience here was so irritating i just did a mani. Do not come here. Do not waste your $ or time. read more

I am literally the worst client when it comes to manis and pedis. Getting my nails done used to be so stressful because I would have to watch to make sure the tech was doing a thorough job and correct them along the way. I'm a regular customer here and I always tip well because the gel manicure is actually always good. However, I went here tonight at 8pm to get a manicure. The reason I came to this nail salon is because it was right down the block from where I work and it is open until late. I decided to give it a try since it has a very cute setup. However, I will not be coming back here again. It is overly priced for no reason. The lady that gave me my mani and pedi cut too much of my cuticle on my right foot and made my toe bleed. I'm praying that I don't get an infection. Also, the staff is not helpful at all. At my regular nail salon, whoever does my pedi helps me stand and gather my belongings and this was not the case here at this establishment. There's nothing sweet about "Xugar". read more

I wont be going back! that is a ridiculous price for this neighborhood! and considering the lack of attention I got! I cant be on the phone when I am working..this is bad service!! NOT GOOD!!!!
