    The drink menu

I've been a regular customer at a Xing Fu Tang in Vancouver, so I couldn't help comparing the two locations. First of all, I had no idea where in Northgate Centre this was located. (It's right near the Ardene.) There is a single door on the outside of the mall, but you can also access it from inside the mall as well. Maybe I missed the signage, but I totally walked past it and had to retrace my steps when I was nearing Subway. It's a really weird layout where you have to walk to the back if you're approaching from the inside. It's also an extremely small location where I don't think they can accommodate more than just a few people in the space at a time without it getting too crowded. I guess it's the hype of a new BBT joint on the Northside, but a friend who works at Northgate has told me they are frequently out of pearls by around 5pm. I think XFT has some of the best brown sugar pearls around, so make sure you order their signature drink. I'm also a fan of the coconut coffee, but only with the housemade coconut jelly. I thought they were a little stingy on the jelly at this location. I personally like how their menu isn't overly extensive that you're overwhelmed by all the choices, but still varied enough to satisfy whatever you might be craving. Service is pretty on par for a Taiwanese bubble tea shop; meaning that you shouldn't expect to be greeted with a smile or be told to "Have a nice day!" as you're handed your drink. They also use this really lousy intercom system that cuts out, making it really hard to hear/understand the person taking your order.

I've been to a couple of Tiger Sugar's in the past, but I never really found a drink on their menu…read morethat was perfect and not too sweet for me. But from what I ordered recently, I was pretty satisfied and finished up my drink quickly. I ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea with boba, 25% sweetness and 25% ice. The sweetness level was exactly what I liked in a boba drink. The boba pearls were nice and chewy. I didn't realize that I could get 3 toppings for 99 cents altogether, so next time I would get pudding too. Last time I got the Mango Sago drink at another location and it was just too sweet for me. I should've known because I couldn't adjust the sweetness and drinks tend to be too sweet for me in general. However the Earl Grey Milk Tea was such a great option for me. My boyfriend got the Taro Pudding Milk Tea. It was delicious. He couldn't adjust the sweetness, but I didn't think it was too sweet to enjoy. The taro pudding was delicious. There wasn't much space to sit inside. There was a large group at a seated in the middle, but we managed to get a table to ourselves at the very end. Inside the shop, they only have three tables. Service was quick, wait time wasn't too bad. There is a bathroom inside but it ended up being out of service when we went. Overall, I liked my drink. The menu is pretty extensive and there's a bunch of options to choose from.

I had been eagerly anticipating Tiger Sugar's opening ever since I saw the signage start going up…read more I've had their drinks before outside Canada and knew they stand out compared to other tea options in Edmonton. They officially opened last week and I stopped by at my first opportunity. The space is fair small with just a few tables for those who want to eat in. Right now it is still decorated with tiger balloons for their grand opening. I ordered the strawberry mochi drink with oat milk and the staff member was kind enough to confirm that while they could do this drink with oat, it would still contain milk ingredients. While that isn't an issue for me, just a preference, I was happy that she checked to be safe. This drink might possibly be the prettiest tea I've ever had. It is full of colourful toppings and the cup was streaked with strawberry (their signature "tiger stripes"). After giving it a good shake, I took my tea to-go. My only very minor complaint is that their straws are very flimsy and I wasn't able to puncture the seal with it.

Good bubble tea. Good sago. Great prices. Fast. Never a line. Best in northside…read more Location is in deep northside of edmonton. Its hidden in the upstairs suite of a buiding famous for donairs or the iconic 7-11. You can take the elevators up if youre too lazy for stairs. The bubble tea here is authentic. Same as you would get in chinatown. But in a better and cleaner venue. All the typical flavors can be found here. My favourites are the coconut or matcha green tea. The sago is soft. Best part is that they dont overcomplicate the drink like the newer places typically do. And they dont charge for this and that. Sago is included with every drink. Its $5.75 per drink unless you customize it. The service is fast and theres never a stupid line like at other bubbletea joints. Its fast like its meant to be. Get a card stamp for your purchase. I think its 8 bubbleteas. Then the ninth is free! Hours are odd. Opens typically at 1pm until late.

Came in here yesterday to treat my daughter who is a HUGE fan of Bubble Tea!…read more The location is a bit odd in that you have to go up a flight of stairs or take the elevator (in the same complex as Eddie's Donair - also good!). The Bubble Teas themselves were freaking FABULOUS! We had fresh fruit slush style mango and strawberry. The texture was perfect and smooth and the sago was just right! We wanted to order the spring rolls but they were out so we settled on a spiral cut potato chip (think french fry like) on a skewer where you could pick the dusting flavour. They were good and my daughter would most definitely want another but at $6 for two, I don't think it's worth the coin. That being said, I would most DEFINITELY come back for the bubble tea but the location is not convenient for me. They also had board games if staying and playing is your thing. I snapped a pic of the wing challenge, so take a peek at my pictures but basically, if you finish the fire hot wings within 5 minutes and no water, you get them free plus win some moola from the money pot! I may be back just to give this a try :-)
