I ordered the Pork Soup Dumplings (not pictured because), Pork & Shrimp Shumai, BBQ Pork Buns, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Green Beans (also not pictured) and a side of Jasmine Rice, paired with a hot pot of Jasmine Green Tea. The soup dumplings were juicy and flavorful, the shumai were perfectly savory, and the BBQ pork buns were soft and yummy. The salt & pepper shrimp had that perfect crispy, seasoned coating, and the green beans were cooked just right. The service was also fantastic!! The whole lunch experience was very enjoyable. I love Chinese cuisine. Especially spicy Sichuan food. I have heard and seen people talking about Xin Ding Dumpling House... most love it. So today I decided to go have lunch there. Easy to get to, and plenty of parking! I walked in and was greeted / seated immediately. I am glad I went early, just past 11am. It was filling up and getting very busy not long after that. I ordered the Chongqing Lazi Ji, Dry Fried Green Beans, a side of rice, and a pot of oolong tea. They brought out the tea quickly, and the green beans and rice quickly followed. The chicken came out just after that. I dug in... and it was delicious. The chicken was mildly spicy to me... but I suspect many would find it hot. I thought it needed a bit more Sichuan Peppercorn, and salt. And it lacked the huge amount of dried peppers that make the dish such a visual treat. But it was good! Green beans were excellent, rice was good, and the tea was very tasty. I really enjoyed the pot, and the small enameled cast iron teacup too! I ate about half, and took the rest home for another meal. Service was terrific, very friendly and attentive. They seemed to appreciate my small knowledge of Mandarin too. I wasn't expecting a Xin Ding Dumpling House to open up on such a convenient location in Vancouver. Located practically right off the freeway next to the Vancouver Mall, this location took over the old Shari's. They did an excellent job remodeling and the decor inside is definitely fancier ( but still casual ). The servers there are very professional, but not very warm/friendly? It almost felt like they were servers from a fine dining restaurant, which works but was just not what I was expecting. We ordered a variety of items and they were all a hit. The Pork Xiao Long Bao unfortunately all stuck to the steamer and it wasn't possible to lift it without it tearing. But it was still good! My favorite item was the Szechuan Fried Fish Filet though. This is a fairly new Chinese restaurant with other stuff besides dumplings. We did get 2 kinds of dumplings- Xiao Long Bao and Chicken dumplings. They were fine but not as flavorful as Din Tai Fung or Dough Zone. There wasn't very much broth in the XLB. Bummer. The cucumber salad we ordered also wasn't as good as we anticipated. It seemed like it was missing something. The beef chow mein was blah. The best thing we ordered were the garlic green beans. They were 5/5. Delicious flavor and cooked to perfection. Came opening time 4PM Friday, the line forms quickly so firm up your plans. A former Shari's at Van Mall, seating is sorta limited and there is a bar with flat screen to wait for your To Gos too. Jason our server was very efficient and friendly, checked on us multiple times for needs. More rare to have Drafts available in a Chinese restaurant and a local NE Pdx, Level Japanese Lager at that! Great dark gold crisp, medium body pint to pair with our spicy fire Dried Pot Spare Ribs $21.95. An orange oily heat with a pile of warming cumin, jalapenos, onions & red bells & Chinese Cauliflower (thinner stalks, less dense flower), with a chewy short ribs in a regular bowl (not a sizzling cast iron one) 4.75/5 for the amt of oil. Rice is extra $2 for rounded heaped bowl and only white rice available. Kung Pao Chix $17.95 was good enough, a sea of red Chix cubes and bells with lots peanuts, yes, but prefer more crunch (needed celery, zucchini, gr onions for green balance too) and less sweet more spicy heat...shoulda asked for Chili oil but know next time. I was so happy to see something was finally coming to the old Shari's location and couldn't be happier with the outcome. We have only been here once so far but were very impressed by the food! We ordered way too much (after an extremely long wait we had to try it all) Classic broccoli beef: thin, perfectly sauced, and tender meat! So good Honey walnut shrimp was probably the best thing we got. It was crunchy, lightly saucey, topped with honey walnuts that added that great crunch to it. Ordered many dumplings and they were all perfect texture! I love dim sum so I've been to a few places and have had many little dumplings. These were all quite big and large portions (~10) so a meal in itself! These odd one out was the custard egg buns. They were chocolate? I've never had them differently than what a normal bao bun type bun so that was different. Not my fav. I have a background in restaurant management so whenever I try somewhere new, I look at it with the eyes of "what would I correct if this was my team?" With that being said, if this staff were my employees, I would be incredibly proud. From the moment we walked in, we felt the welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Jason, was very attentive and felt genuinely happy to serve his customers. He was knowledgeable of the menu, gave us updates on the timing on our food, and never lost his smile. Even as he single handedly served 9 tables at once. Listening to the conversations of those around me, I did not hear any complaints. Each table is having a great time and you can see the enjoyment. Watching the kitchen staff, you can see them smile, joke around, and you can feel the love of their work in each bite. Once a guest finishes, their table is not sitting messy for long. The team is constantly maintaining a clean front. We've been waiting for the ability to come by and try this place out. As an avid lover of Chinese cuisine, this is definitely up our alley. Today we went in for their soft opening today, 5.22.26. They were busy, but not overwhelmingly so. The interior looks nice, and they had a special menu for the soft open. I got the spicy chongking style chicken, and xio long bao. My partner got the spicy chow fun. The xio long bao are well made, flavorful, and delicious. Truly. It was about the same price as you'd see at a Din Tai Fung (overall for the dim sum and greens) but was worth it. Also the chicken was flavorful, spicy, and well fried. I saw on IG that today was Xin Ding DH's 'soft opening' so I dragged the kids to check them out. I'm always looking for good dumpling closer to home without crossing the river into Portland. The restaurant is across the street from Vancouver Mall inside the old Shari's restaurant. The interior decor has been re-done to give it a more modern vibe, less diner feel. All the booths and chairs were new. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The servers were very accommodating and attentive. My family and I are so used to our favorite dim sum place in Portland with the rolling carts and cacophony of plates. Xin Ding is more subdued and reminds me of the smaller dim sum places in New York where there are no carts, just the menu and you better know what you want. We ordered dry-fried string beans, pork xiao long bao soup dumplings, salt&pepper fish fillet, orange chicken, wonton in chili sauce stir-fried beef with cilantro, and crystal shrimp dumplings, and steamed rice. Since it was our first time here I wanted to try more dumplings but when they brought out the plates it was obvious that I ordered more than enough for 4 people. The dry fried string beans were well seasoned and crunchy. The orange chicken was perfectly executed, the beef with cilantro was tender and had bit of kick to it. The salt&pepper fish was super fresh, not overly battered, tender, moist and not dry like some places we've tried the soup dumpling and wonton in chili sauce was everyone's favorite. A great first visit to Xin Ding's newest location. The staff was friendly and attentive, keeping pace impressively well for a soft opening weekend. We arrived around 12:15 on Sunday and joined the waitlist -- we had about a 45-minute wait for a party of 3, which felt reasonable. By 1:30-1:45 the rush had died down and tables were opening up, though keep in mind they close between 2:30-4:00. The interior renovation is impressive -- you'd hardly know it was once a Shari's. Comfortable seating, lovely decor, and a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered 7 dishes: pork xiao long bao, green onion pancakes, crystal shrimp dumplings, pork and leek potstickers, honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, and wonton in chili sauce -- all delicious and exactly what we'd come to expect from multiple visits to the downtown Portland location. The total came to around $125 with tax, which felt fair for the quality and quantity. Excited to have this closer to home! No wait on a Saturday morning. Jason was our server and he did an awesome job. My partner's Sprite was never empty and he liked the way our dishes: chicken chow mein, shrimp and pork XLB, pork and leek dumplings and crystal shrimp dumplings came out in a sequence rather than all at once. Our favorites were the shrimp dumplings and the XLB. Note on their fillings, they are not over salted so you can use the soy sauce or black vinegar on your table to season it to your liking. Great for those who want a little more control over their salt intake. Their dumplings are crafted with skill and care. Great filling to dough ratio. We ordered takeout from the newly opened Xin Ding Dumpling House in Vancouver and tried a variety of dishes. The wontons in chili sauce were okay. Since they were packed piping hot for takeout, some of the wontons ended up sticking together. The chili sauce was on the lighter side and not overly flavorful. The beef chow mein was pretty standard, but I found it a little bland. The Kung Pao chicken wasn't what I expected--it came in more of a spicy sauce rather than a traditional Kung Pao sauce, and it felt like it was missing some flavor. The star of the meal was definitely the Szechuan-style deep fried fish. The seasoning was well balanced, the cilantro added a nice fresh touch, and I really appreciated the fish-to-batter ratio--there was plenty of actual fish in each piece instead of mostly coating. It was easily our favorite dish of everything we ordered. The honey walnut shrimp was also very good. It was served with broccoli and had a nice balance of sweetness without being overwhelming. Overall, some dishes were stronger than others, but the deep fried fish alone is worth ordering. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

Dinner here was SO good I felt obligated to leave a review. Only reason I took off a star is due to the service. 3 out of 4 employees were honestly SO quiet/soft spoken and passive, which was hard to navigate in such a loud setting (nearly all tables were full). But of course, food is what you are there for, and it was 10/10. You will not go wrong with the Mongolian beef, pork wontons in chili oil, and chow mein. These were by far our favorites. Pork dumplings and kung pao chicken were great as well, but the others were absolutely mouthwatering. We seriously can't wait to go back again and try other plates. Shocked to see such an authentic Chinese restaurant in the middle of Vancouver Mall area. We had dried pot, BBQ pork buns, and chicken potstickers. My sister who has never had Chinese potstickers said it was the best Chinese food she's had. This Xin Ding shows at the door as "new soft opening". Perhaps it is related to the Xin Ding Dumpling in old town Portland. The dishes are similar though not exactly item by item. We came as a party of 6. The seating are spacious, and appears to be a former restaurant built and not a newly designed for Xin Ding. We ordered our favorite dishes, like Hot Spicy Chicken (?), Ma Po Tofu with Pork, Pot Stickers, Dry String Beans, Spicy Beef Noodle, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Hot & Sour Soup, Fried Egg Rolls, Kung Pao Chicken--all dishes were good though not exceptional. We were disappointed that they were out of Honey Walnut Shrimp. Braised Beef Noodle Soup was so so, the noodles were soggy upon serving. We would go back again to try more dishes. I recommend this as Go-To place for Chinese Dumplings, even though we did not order this on our first visit. Service was excellent. read more

This place was fantastic! We had the soup dumplings, pork wontons with chili oil, hot and sour soup, green onion pancakes, and green beans. Out of the dumplings our favorite was the pork wonton dish but you still cannot go wrong with the soup dumplings. Green beans were excellent just like Din Tai Fung. I loved the hot and sour soup. I didn't love the green onion pancakes as much, but they were still decent. More like a flat egg roll without the veggie filling... I would go here again and again. I'm 16 years old and I was eating here for my birthday. We made it clear what my age was when we told the server, Jason, that it was my birthday, he said he was 47. At first he was acting normal maybe a little awkward, but near the end he said he will give me a hug and only me, he made that very clear. I didn't think much of it, but when we were getting up he tried to give me a hug I said no thank you and tried to walk away. When we were at the door he tried again. Someone that was eating with me said "how about a fist bump" so he gave me a fist bump then again tried to give me a hug. She got in between us until I was walking out the door and he yelled " you're breaking my heart!". The whole time I was visibly uncomfortable by his actions and I know he could see that. The food was good but the service was not. I'm not coming back if Jason is my server. read more
