This has been the WORST experience I have ever had. I am a design professional and took a chance on Thumbtack for my personal home. I had a Murphy Bed, 2 curtain rods and a shelf to be installed. Xigman was so prompt with answering my posting for a pro. So polite, detailed and professional, how could this go wrong?
Well for starters they don't vet their pros on their familiarity with the specific task or require any vetting for the helpers they require you to pay additional for.
My helper showed up with his wife. Sweet as she was, she could barely lift anything had NO experience in assembly, and was far to talkative and personal for what anyone expects from a professional.
The installer put holes in my baseboards unnecessarily, I was so taken a back all I could do was stay calm and bust out my tools to correct it before my landlord saw. He cut the ceiling track rods incorrectly so I had to order more leaving only 1 installed, noting that one of the screws was a bit tight but I could touch up the crack it made with paint. Was unable to complete the bed and tried to blame it on my walls, and refused to believe me that he simply need to continue to drill through the metal stud. The shelves look great, thus the 1 star. I had to step in and patch holes, replace trim, purchase additional rods and pay near $400 to have the bed correctly installed.
I spoke with Ben at Xigma after asking them to leave and was informed he could not without payment. I expressed my discontent for the experience. They removed the Murphy Bed and still required I pay for everything else while they made it IMPOSSIBLE for the contractor to leave before I submitted payment. It was so intimidated to have a man and his wife sitting in the middle of my floor refusing to leave until I made a payment for work I was completely unsatisfied with. Completely exhausted I said fine and paid the hardly discounted work grateful to have one rod and a shelf. I had no idea at the time the one curtain rod that was installed would come crumbling down when I went to touch it up with paint as advised. Picture attached.
I reached out the following day and had to wait two days before Ben followed up. I was assured I would get a refund and they would send someone to correctly install the rod at no charge to me. Three days later no email, no messages, no confirmation of appointment but I did receive a text with a bill for the "free" tech that was suppose to come out. Completely floored, I requested my refund again and asked that the charge for the helper who sat on my floor, ate, and asked inappropriate personal questions also be refunded since she was only their to help with the bed that wasn't assembled.
Ben finally called me back assuring me the billing was just a system issue. Agreed with me about the billing stating I would have the tech there the next day and my refund in 3 business days. The tech showed and installed the remaining rod at no cost since I did all the corrective work. (I only wished I took a picture of the trim but I was so upset by it I just fixed in an effort to more forward).
To date no refund has been issued. Ben has not called me back. And account department is also MIA. My calls are redirected and today I was disconnected 2x. It's been over two weeks. I waited hoping I could write a review about how beautifully they corrected the problem instead ...
I'm not stuck writing reviews (which I never do) and contacting the BBB trying to get someone to refund me the money I was promised and rightfully owed. Horrible horrible experience.
The part that gets me, they did a complete 180 from the professional speedy service that reeled me in. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. This level of poor customer service is beyond reproach. read more
