Xfinity phone service is incredibly cheap and reliable as it runs over Verizon's network. Oh, but there's a catch... there's always a catch with Xfinity. It seems they won't sell you a plan unless you're also an Internet or cable customer with them as well. So, basically the magic here is that they want you to dramatically overpay to the tune of +$100 for video or wifi to save twenty bucks on your phone. That's quintessential Xfinity math and why we love them so. Two very dubious stars. read more

Dear god have I spent a long time thinking about how to go about actually reviewing Comcast. And it's not just because I'm expecting them to shut off my house's service if I give them a totally bad review. But just in case I'm going to make sure that I don't touch the green wire while diffusing a time bomb (or was it supposed to be the orange one? McFuck!). So for starters let's try focusing on some of the good. The digital cable sure does hook up one sweet looking picture. In that regard I'm pretty sure that they're still doing it the best. the long list of movie, radio, and sports stations also provide some serious distractions (for better and worse). And hell, the On Demand option gives you the chance to catch up on random Animes during hour's where no one in their right frame of mind should be watching random Animes (Not that I ever suggested that I was in a right frame of mind - as this review may indicate.). Did I cut through that freaking wire yet? No? crud - lets go through some of that bad. Overall I pretty much liken Comcast to The Empire in Star Wars. right now when it comes to cable and Internet here they're pretty much the grandmasters. Verizon and -are their any other options?- are getting there, but they're not really much of a rebellion (I liken them to Jabba the Hutt and his crew - only not as fat and sluggish or as bad ass as Boba Fett!). So in the mean time they're pretty much at the top and in some ways they can do what they want. it's been documented that they've pretty much controlled the bandwidth they give out from time to time. There's also times where they'd probably rather offer Jedi mind tricks like giving more channels and phone lines instead of gaining a terminated member when you're dissatisfied. Maybe if I went for that blue wire - and still nothing! OK in the long run Comcast has pretty much been going strong since the 80's - therefore it's pretty much been around as long as I can remember. So it's made it's fair share of milestones and innovations - and the majority first happened around Philly. It also dishes out an uncanny amount of money to charities, fund raising, and year long entertainment event's. so it gives a significant amount of money that it makes back to other things. So love it, hate it, or just find it the best of whats out there currently, you can't deny that it has done some good. Now I have to watch some more Anime! read more

Yet another unpleasant customer service experience at the hands of Comcast so-called customer service. Our internet and phones went out on Friday 3/23/12. My wife called, and after interminable slogging through menus, finally reached a human, who, after going through some perfunctory self diagnostics, said a technician would be there between 3:00pm and 7:00pm. My wife had to be somewhere at 4:00, so I left work early to go home and wait. Four hours and 7:00pm came and went, and I called Comcast. An automated recording informed me they had arbitrarily changed the appointment to Saturday 3/24 between 11:00am and 1:00pm. Infuriated, slogged through the deep muddy of menu choices and finally got in touch with a human. He said somehow the dispatch had not reached any technicians and the service call was rescheduled. I told him I expected someone to be at my home tonight, not tomorrow, that it was unacceptable to have me leave work, costing my two hours pay, and unable to telecommute due to lack of internet service. He offered me a $20 credit which infuriated me even more. I demanded to speak to a supervisor. Once the supervisor got on the phone I did not relent until she agreed to send someone over. The technician arrived at 9:00pm. He did some diagnostics and said the modem was fine, then went outside and looked around and informed me there was a problem with the box on the pole, which was affecting everyone on the block. I found this odd, since no one I spoke to before this mentioned anything about anyone else having trouble, and wouldn't some other person have called if the entire block had this problem? He said a technician would fix the box on the pole overnight and my service would be restored the next morning. Needless to say, when I checked in the morning there was still no service. I called back, and explained the situation, and the person in the phone said someone worked on the pole overnight. They said they would send a technician over. The technician arrived at 10:00am and when he looked at the modem, lo and behold, it turned out the modem was bad, the opposite of what the idiot the night before said. He replaced the modem and all is now working. It is now obvious to me that the "problem with the box on the pole" story was false. So here are my problems: 1.) Two hours of lost pay 2.) Being trapped in my house for four hours, unable to leave, waiting for a technician who never showed up 3.) Being lied to and jerked around on the phone by an incompetent service rep. 4.) Having an incompetent technician come to the house, lying and misdiagnosing the problem. 5.) Overuse of my iPhone data plan due to inability to connect to my wireless network, costing me money 6.) Loss of service for over 24 hours, service I am paying for 7.) Extreme stress due to having to deal with incompetence every step of the way, except for the technician who came Saturday morning and fixed what the others were unable to fix. I am blind with rage over this situation. It will take more than a $20 credit to make me whole. read more

I have been trying to call Comcast for 3 days now (800-COMCAST) about my bill. Whether I call 9:00am, 2:00 pm, or 8:00 pm, the same thing happens. "Your hold time is between 25 and 35 minutes". Wait, what? OK, so then I called last night at 11:30 pm (OK, so there is NO Jake at Comcast), only to find out that the Billing Office is closed. So I just called them again for the 2nd time today, and again 30 minute wait. No wonder their richest CEO in America, Brian Roberts, is clueless as to why his company's customer service is Worst In America!!! They get 0 Stars! Updated: I finally reached a live person Saturday evening, at around 7:30 pm and the issue was resolved. Going forward, I recommend that any billing issues should be directed to the Retention Dept -- press the option on your phone to downgrade or cancel services and that should get you routed to someone able to assist. The "Loyalty Department" was so wonderful, they upgraded my review from 0 to 2 stars, but after I swap out some equipment later this week, they may either go up to 3 stars, or down to 1 star again.... read more

Comcast sucks! Overpriced. Customer service extremely poor. They do not know what's going on! Ordered triple play' never received it; called up- Oh yeah you'll get in 3-5 business days. 2 weeks later they had no idea what I was talking about. OK; let's try double play. I needed 30 feet cable to run upstairs. No problem; just go & pick it up. Get there and they tell me they are only allowed to give out 7ft. While they aren't the best service I've had (Time Warner ended up being a bit better), they are far from the worst. Their install was late (outside the four hour window they gave), but at least they showed up that day and finished up the job. The service worked 90% of the time. When it didn't work, I'd call up, and despite a long hold time, was able to touch base within 20 minutes (working with computer support hold times probably tempered my expectations here) and get a credit for each day or days that the service was down. Overall, if you're kind to them, they will try to help. But don't expect it immediately, necessarily. Incidentally, the building referred to here is quite nice, tallest building in Philadelphia, I believe, at this point, and one of the newest, too. I'm spitting nails right now and they're directed at Comcast! On September the 13th, we switched to Verizon for Phone, Cable & Internet. On September 13th we called Comcast to discontinue service. We were paid in full to that point and that was just luck of the draw, because of the billing cycle. Yesterday I opened a bill, that I had got in the mail from Comcast It was a slightly reduced bill. Today I dropped off the Comcast equipment and inquired 'why the bill? They claimed we never called to cancel the Internet & Cable and only cancelled the Phone service? Huh? What? I started to argue and like with some others, you know it will go no where good, I stopped, pulled out my Docket #'' s and person that I had spoke to on September 13th. They hem-hawed around saying, oh yeah, it says here you called the 19th or the 20th.. Lies! I kindly asked for a receipt of the returned equipment and left. I came home and called Comcast 1-800 # and after 5 minutes of proving myself, they told me I should not pay this bill and they owe me $100.00!! I'm not holding my breath on getting that back, unless I fill it again with nails! read more

I have never witnessed so many problems with a cable company until I moved to Dallas in January 2005. Friday, Jan 7th, I drove to Dallas for Orientation for Culinary School. 4pm I was finally given the keys to my apartment & I had an install appt scheduled with Comcast between 5 & 8. About 8:01, I started calling. I was told they had come no one was home. I'm sitting here, on the floor, (freezing by the way since the heater in the new apartment didn't work), in an empty apartment & you are trying to tell me someone came & knocked on my door. Then I was told that they called & left messages 3 times. Ok, 1) I had told them to call my CELL PHONE. 2) my machine at home was PACKED! They also told me they knocked on a brown door in a 1story building. When I explained that I was in a 3story black & gray stucco complex, the agent said... "it's dark outside, that changes the colors." So after being transferred to too many supervisors, I decided to drive back home where my uHaul was waiting in the driveway, the entire two hour drive talking to Comcast. Finally had a supervisor on the phone and had a few points to make. 1) Don't schedule appointments you aren't going to keep. 2) Make sure your installers have enough reading skills to call the correct phone number. 3) Don't have your lackeys answering the phones make excuses for your incompetent installers, telling me that a black door mysteriously turns brown at night. Appt scheduled for Mon & the guy messed up my computer installing unnecessary software & then put a switch box on my TV. I told him I didn't order that & sorry that's on the order, you will have to call & make another appt. Thurs I had to sit & wait for another installer to bring me a cable box & take away the switch box. He had called on his way so I used caller id when the channels were all messed up and got to call the jeans past your butt wearing thug, back to my apartment to fix it. I saw a Comcast commercial internet was only $25.99/mo, first bill I was charged $42.99. I was told by a "Service" Rep that I had to ask for the special when I ordered. I didn't live in Dallas when I placed the order & that they don't advertise in my hometown. Again, I had to talk to a supervisor to get this fixed. Two weeks, cable modem was dead. Two months later, the cable modem died again. The third time I finally got a cable modem that worked. The supervisor I had talked to in January set up my account to have a $99.00 credit (for the installation) & to have my first month free. It took 2 1/2 months to fix my bill. I refused to pay until it was fixed. 20 people on the phone before they figured out which supervisor I had talked to (even though I gave them her name) nearly 3 mos prior. She finally fixed my bill to w/ the 1st month, $99 credit & internet special. I moved in Dec05, the appt was from 11 - 2 and to call before they came. They called, said they would be there in 30 minutes. 2 hours later, I had to call & ask WTF. 15 minutes later & said they were on their way. An hour later I called and they claimed they got lost. 5pm before they bothered to show up. 4 hours they finally got a signal. Then they set up the TV they switched my DVR. I had saved stuff on there! It's already erased when we deactivated it. Um, why? Well, you get new ones when you move. On to the computer & they switched my cable modem again, to the original kind I had the first three times that never worked. I was furious. They also set up a new email address on my account & didn't move over my old email. No one told them to do this & I would have never set up one up using my full name. A week later, Outlook couldn't download my mail & I was told that my email was no longer active. WHAT? It took them three weeks to fix this. No telling how many emails I lost. I was not happy about the way this install went & I was really not happy that they switched out my equipment, because I had already been thru 3 cable modems & I finally had one that was working. In January I had to replace that cable modem they gave me in December. The March bill shows a credit for 3 days of no service from back in February (one of their installers had unplugged my wires outside when installing service for someone else) & in March they had to come out & replace my cable modem, again! On April 23rd, I woke up at 10am with no internet, no cable, no phone. Something had apparently gone haywire around 7am based on the time the last email was downloaded. I had no service for 4 days. The weird thing is my TV showed the channel box at the bottom of the screen with what show is supposed to be on, it is not snow like it was last time. What was the problem? One of their technicians had switched the wires outside again. COMCAST SUCKS. read more

Undoubtedly one of the worst companies in the world. They just sent me a bill for $171 for 2 months just for INTERNET. I repeat: this is just for Internet. Not cable. How is this even remotely competitive compared to other companies? $60/month just for the service. $10/month to "rent" their modem, and $12/month for "blast Internet." What a scam this "blast Internet" is. Let me tell you ... I told them to discontinue "blast" and at the same time asked about lowering my monthly service charge. They downgraded me to the "economy" Internet (ie. as basic and low speed as it gets) AND removed "blast". The end result was absolutely no notable difference between what I had then and what I have now. Also, I went and bought myself a modem for $60, which leads me to my next rant ... Time to return the modem they were charging me $10/month to "rent". I knew the location of my nearest Comcast service center, but because this was a holiday weekend, I wanted to make sure they'd be open, so I called. On the other end, all I got was that annoying dial-up modem/fax submission noise. Know what I'm talking about? Sure you do. So, rather than wasting my time by driving all the way there only to find out they'd be closed, I called Comcast corporate. I waited over 40 MINUTES to get a real living human being on the line only to put me on hold so she could call the service center. She confirmed she heard the same noise as me, but that according to her stupid records, that particular service center would be open until 6:30. Well guess what? Your stupid records were wrong. The damn service center closed its doors and was replaced by a gym. What an incredible waste of time. How does your corporate office not know whether your own service centers are still in operation? What a joke. In the end, they're still charging me over $50/month just for bare bones Internet. This is the Smart car of Internet. The Toyota Prius of Internet. I'm pretty sure you can lease either of these cars for around $50/month too, can't you? Also, it's almost impossible to set up a service appointment on a weekend so I end up having to take at least a half day off from work to accommodate their 4 hour window. Lastly, and this doesn't apply just to Comcast, but all cable/internet companies: Welcome to the 21st Century. Stop trying to sell me your stupid triple play package. So... Comcast... Any time you feel like you're ready to stop sucking, go ahead and get started. I mean, I get that providing cable and internets and stuff is hard work. Hey, wires and electronic things are complicated. That's fine. I sympathize. But here's the thing... When we bought our little cable and internet "services" package, I really think we were under the impression that, y'know, you were going to provide the aforementioned "services" according to your description. This is, after all, what you do for a living and stuff, right? I'll grant that I've been out of the full-time workforce for over a year now, but even in my part time job I try to indicate exactly what I'm going to do and then, I don't know.. follow through. It's a complicated equation, I know. Anyway, it's nice that you were willing to give us a $5 credit after we tried to rent a movie and then it wouldn't play (for the second time in about a week). Of course, I don't think we should have had to spend twenty minutes explaining why this was a reasonable outcome.. but maybe that's just me. Meanwhile, what I can't understand is why your stupid cable service keeps failing in the first place. If you're going to give us "On Demand" service, then make sure the damn thing works. I would almost feel better if you just didn't offer it at all. Having the supposed ability to see all of these things whenever I want and then not actually being able to do so is just a frustrating tease. But what really prompts this review.. and the reason I'm knocking off that second star you would have gotten for the refund (how ever difficult to obtain).. is the internet. I realize it doesn't speak highly of my own work ethic, but when I'm trying to avoid writing a paper, I really need the internet to work. There was a time when someone SEEMED TO HAVE (see below for conclusion) opened an account under my name and my address. I was later billed for it. I informed this to Comcast, gave them my social security number. The representative admitted that the person opening the account used a different social security number, but refused to cancel the account and clear my name. I told Comcast I already have an active account, and I've been paying on time for the past year. Nope, that didn't work. So here's the logic. One customer with two accounts under the same address, with one account containing a different social security number. The account with the correct SSN has been paid on time for the year, while the account with the incorrect SSN hasn't been paid at all, yet Comcast decides to continue to bill me. They even turned me over to a collection agency literally one week after the call after I told them I am not going to be paying for the fake delinquent account. It took them, ahem, ME, 3 months to get this cleared, where I had to talk to TWO different collection agencies (the first one bounced it back to Comcast, who bounced it to another one), my credit card company, and in the end, the district attorney's office. It took the DA to get Comcast to finally cancel my account. Here's the twist to the result: the other person who "opened an account under my name" never did so - when I moved in, I opened a Comcast account after moving into my new apartment, and instead of closing the previous tenant's account, Comcast went and switched his name to my name (hence the same address), then opened a new account under my name. Comcast was the one who did this illegal practice and brought me through hell. They knew about it all along as well. Here's how to pretty much sum up Comcast as in ISP - a piece of shit internet provider who have pretty much monopolized the cable internet industry for the general population, therefore giving them the green light to sodomize any customers they want with pleasure. Ever watch that South Park episode where the cable TV employees would rip off their shirts and rub their tits while their customers are complaining? Everything about Comcast screams they don't care about their customers and only about making a profit. Disorganized channel line up, unhelpful customer service, worthless online help, and rates that seem to change with no apparent reason. We did not have an real beef with Comcast until we upgraded to an HD box about four months ago. When we got our new box and remote the remote SUCKED and would not respond at times or stop working all together. Changed the batteries, called customer service, looked online, and even swapped out the box and remote at the branch office, only to continue to experience the same problem. Read online that this is a very prevalent problem with Comcast remotes and boxes. Perhaps Comcast should actually fix the problem as some point. Before having an HD box we had a lot of problems with our picture doing a weird "widening" thing with our old TV. Made at least 3 calls to customer service and they were unhelpful in giving any solutions to the problem. Two weeks ago we switched to Verzion Fios and love, love, love our new cable. Channel line up is very well organized, remote is awesome, and the picture quality is crystal clear. And as far as Comcast claiming more On Demand options, so far I see no difference in what is available on Fios vs. Comcast. Internet does seem to be a step slower when loading up initially, but once up and running we've noticed fast internet as we've ever had. read more

When you have a collective rating of less than two stars after thirty reviews, that speaks volumes. Comcast is the biggest racket there is. My hatred of Comcast runs deep. I've hated Comcast for as long as I've been renting apartments. I can't remember a time when it was reasonably priced. When I last subscribed from them it was like $110/month for two boxes with no premium channels. I remember when prices first started to creep up to ludicrous levels. Their justification at that time was that they were reinvesting in upgrades and improvements to service. The great breakthrough they eventually unveiled was On Demand. This is what we had been flogged and beaten for. And so it was that future generations are indebted to us, the unfortunate who bore the burden to bring about the birth of On Demand. ..but once On Demand came out, prices didn't drop. Does that R&D department still have some tricks up their sleeve? Of course, I'm not naive enough to think that prices would ever drop. I mean, we have to ensure that the Comcast top brass continues to earn money by the metric ton. The world would be an unjust place if they didn't. When they talk about institutionalized greed it's a shame that banks, insurance companies and government get all the attention. Maybe there will come a time when legions of fed-up customers take to the streets in a Great Cable Revolution....even if we have to wait for a commercial break to get everyone off the couch. Special note: Did you know the cheapest plan they offer (limited basic service) does not include CNN or MSNBC, but does include FOX News? Cue the collective 'HMMMMMM...' I took the radical step a while ago of actually breaking free of Comcast's tyranny, but it's not enough! I think Comcast owes us. - They should erect a monument to all former and current Comcast subscribers. Once a year they could sacrifice a board member here in a grand ceremony. Televised, of course. - They could hold events in stadiums & arenas across their coverage area where everyone in attendance takes a turn slapping the CEO once across the face. - Comcast could issue a formal written apology to each and every former and current customer for being the shameless whores they are. Don't get me started. It was the Time Warner mega-monopoly when I lived in NYC and now this. The Comcast monopoly. A neccessary evil in which my family pays just over $100 bucks a month to have the priviledge of watching frikkin' TV. The bill is always wrong, always too high and I am ALWAYS put on hold for between 12 and 22 minutes each and every time I call to threaten to leave unless they lower my bill - which they occaisionally, reluctantly will. I was on a 6 month "promotion" that ran out and for whatever reason they just couldn't find another "promotion code" that would work. And on and on and on it goes. "May I speak to your supervisor?" -No!!!! I was put on hold AGAIN!!!! Alas, my apartment building has Comcast for their carrier and no satellite TV is permitted, so we are SOL. In addition, each day I get to walk past the shrine to Comcast - yes, oh yes, the GORGEOUS Comcast Center with it's multi-million dollar screen in the lobby and over-priced chi-chi food court and programable fountains out front. This hommage to COMCAST turns my stomach when I think of my $100 a month (for cable and internet - sheesh there's no way in holy hell I'm gonna give them ny phone bill, too - you'll have to read my rant on verizon which also blows.) and all the other citizen's of Philadelphia who wait ON HOLD for the priviledge of paying over $100 a month so our kids can watch PBS Sprout. I hope this yelp review will not preclude me from future employment. I could have cursed alot more and said some truly evil things - all of which are true - but you NEVER KNOW when Comcast will need a kick-ass technology trainer. (That'd be moi.) read more

Comcast has provided me with the worst experience of any company I have ever done business with in my life. There have been too many instances to write about here. Simply said if you have any other options for TV, Internet or Phone service use them. I am simply too tired of calling each month to request that Comcast fix my service only to have the job done half way. I have chosen to cut off my service even though I have no other options. I would rather go without TV service than allow any more of my money to support such a lousy organization. BTW: I have found that the HDTV service is so highly compressed it does not look like HDTV. FRAUD ALERT AND WARNING***** Technical support staff asked my teenager for my *SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER* just to help program a new remote and cable box to our TV. You have to refuse to provide it. Only *AFTER* refusing to provide it does the support staff tell you that your account number will work to identify your account. I got on the phone and asked for the tech's name and was told by a woman with a heavy accent that her name was "Alexis". I asked "Alexis" where she was physically located. She was very vague and would only tell me, "Offshore". I had to ask 4 times to get her to give me a manager. In summary; They have my address, phone number, full name, and who knows what else. Then they want my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER too, right from the start? But they are completely anonymous to me in the event they exploit my most sensitive information. So I called Customer Service and asked the machine for 'Fraud' and was told they are closed - please call back... I've been a customer of many cable and Internet service providers in California, Utah, and New York throughout the last 15 years or so, and I've never been treated as poorly as Comcast treats me. The only time they were actually professional and attentive is when I called to cancel my service with them, which irritated me even more. Oh, now that I am cancelling you want to listen to me? Comcast nickels and dimes their customers. Whether it's a installation fee, leasing a modem, or sneaking fees on my bill for things they said were free. Nearly two months after cancelling my service they sent me a bill in the mail. When I went into one of their stores I paid my final bill and was told that I was all settled up. They ended up removing it from my account after I was transferred around to various Comcast employees. Aside from consistently terrible customer service, their prices and fees were unreasonably high. So, with Comcast you get consistently bad customer service, high prices, and terrible products. There are so many obvious problems with Comcast it makes me wonder how much longer this company is going to continue on. These people are asleep at the wheel, they don't care, they just want to rip you off. DON'T DO IT, DON'T SIGN UP FOR THEIR SERVICE!!! read more

I was a fairly happy Comcast customer up until very recently. We have had their service for years. There aren't many other options and I need internet and TV to survive. We've been lucky enough to continually get offerred the discounted rate for the digital preferred package (Free HBO, and like 300 channels, plus HD channels). The package with internet was only $80 a month and seemed worth it. We've only once had a service outage and it was fixed within a couple of hours...So despite the many angry customers on here, I was actually fairly happy until about 3 weeks ago. Out of no where I just suddenly lost all of my HD channels...I called in and asked what had happened. We signed up for a specific package that included HD channels and for some reason the TV was telling me I now had to "subscribe" to HD. The customer service rep told met hat as of that date all subscribers had to pay $9.99 to subscribe to HD service. I politely explained that I had a package that included HD channels for a set price and the package was guaranteed for six months. That six months was not up and I didn't intend to pay an additional $10 a month for service that I had already been provided for free. Despite all the logical arguments in the world the rep refused to give me my HD back. She basically said all the other people calling in just caved and decided to pay $10 more. I refused and hung up the phone. What Comcast is doing is basically extorting an extra $10 out of its subscribers because they can. Recently our HD cable box started to act up. It clearly was wasn't working correctly. I called Comcast (actually a series of calls) to see what the options were. After trying to reset the box several times remotely, Comcast decide the box needed to be changed. They told me I could drive to a Comcast location 45 minutes away from my home to exchange the box or I could PAY to have a technician come and install a new box. I told them it was their faulty equipment and they could choose to repair/replace it and retain me as a customer, but there was NO WAY I was going to pay for the privilege of taking a morning off work to sit and wait for their technician to show up. After some discussion a supervisor at Comcast decided to retain me as a customer and waive ("this one time") any charges for the technician visit. Normally I would avoid reviewing a service such as Comcast cable. However the incredibly poor customer service that seems to be designed from corporate offices at Comcast is worthy of some rebuke, however useless it might be. Beware of the people going door-to-door for the purpose of re-signing customers that had the good sense to leave Xfinity. They have limited things they are able to offer and unless you are willing to get service if you don't me they Will have you paying obscene prices for what you don't need an out rages installation fees. I explained the problems that Xfinity caused me and my wife and was willing to sign up for one of their programs with the understanding that the installation fee would be waived. This customer specialist said that they cannot or will not do that for me and kept pushing other additional services which would cost me more money than I wanted to spend. While this door-to-door person was very honest and very likable Xfinity is sending her into the street and offering nothing in the way of really incentives for people to give them another chance. They are however still happy to take your money as always. Against my better judgment I was willing to sign up with them again today if this woman and I could come to an understanding. 1) Ordered installation of tv/internet several weeks in advance so the day I moved to Philadelphia I'd be ready to go. Free installation was thrown into my deal as well. #Excited 2) Called the day before my scheduled installation to change my phone number on the account. Was told that a different address was listed on the account than my actual address (although it's literally next door). Because of this a new ticket had to be issued a week from when I scheduled it. However, my situation was 'escalated' as they call it, and I was supposed to receive a call this same day (day before my installation was scheduled) to see if they could squeeze me in as soon as possible. #Frustrated 3) No call received day before installation. #More frustrated 4) Next day (day initially scheduled for instatllation) called comcast twice and was basically told nothing helpful and to just wait for the call I was supposed to get yesterday. #Furious 5) Was called by comcast employee to see if I wanted to do self installation (which takes like a week to arrive) and save on installation fees. I told her that I was already promised free installation. She said that she didn't see that on my account and to call another number to figure that out with someone else. #I AM GONNA KILL COMCAST!!!!!!! 6) Called Comcast for a 3rd time and spoke with a very nice lady who said she was gonna do something to have my escalated ticket sent to the front of the line. She also advised me on how to get my free installation back (which however has still proven hard to take care of). I don't know about all the service issues--except when I get behind on my bill :/ But anytime I've called 1800comcast, sh*t gets done--quickly. I even called one night after a pretty alcohol induced evening around 4am--just for laughs. I asked if there were any specials or any way to lower my bill. I was put briefly on hold and then told that my bill would be lowered $20 per month, and Showtime would be added for the same time--for an entire year. I guess niceness gets treated with niceness--and nighttime call workers are super, SUPER friendly (and bored!) I love you Comcast--my internet has never been faster. read more

Comcast Corp, if this the Cable Giant is too large for its own good. Not to the reader, always review your bill. Here's my recent story. On 1/20, my cable, phone and internet provided by Comcast, was disrupted. I called customer service and they scheduled a rep to come out and fix the problem on Sunday morning at 9AM. The night before, I fixed the problem-some jerk disconnected a female/male adapter on the side of my house and all I had to do was reconnect the cable. That sunday, the rep showed up and I turned him away at the door. Today, on 2/6, I reviewed my bill and saw charges for "service charge $29.74 and $1.28 on 1/22, the day the rep showed up. I called Comcast and was informed that the rep had showed up and replaced a "cable splitter" which he hadn't done. I've since filed a complaint with the PA PUC and hope action is taken against its dishonest employee or contractor they hired. read more

Needless to say, any thinking person will find this degree of unprofessionalism and incompetence beyond all comprehension. My feedback and review is laden with all of the he said/she said/"my story" nonsense that, perhaps, you can relate to. Day 1: I pick up my self-installation kit for TV/internet. Day 1 (later): Internet hooks up without incident, cable box does not work (does not power up at all). Day 2: I return non-working cable box to Comcast in person. I upgrade my promotion to a better one with more channels, thus procuring a newer box and DVR. Day 2 (later): None of my channels work. I call. They reset my box, send a signal, and inform me to wait. In 45 minutes all will be fine, and my proper channels will be functional. Nothing changes. I call again. They reset again. 45 minutes go by, nothing changes. Day 2 (even later): I now go to an online chat with their technicians. This third individual informs me that the earlier "upgrade" of my promotion has been ordered incorrectly, and offers to change it for me. He communicates this as if he is doing me an enormous favor. He offers to add all kinds of services I don't want, which I politely decline 3 times. Day 3: My new channels are now working, but suddenly my free HBO promotion, previously working fine, has disappeared. I am currently in the queue for online chat to resolve. No doubt fixing this issue, if indeed I can, will precipitate another issue. I've never seen anything like this, and likely will not again. Avoid at all costs. In a lengthy piece on how NBC's David Gregroy was fired, the Washingtonian reveals the cable company's way of "sucking up to Washington." Comcast also had an even more personal way of sucking up to Washington. Its government-affairs team carried around "We'll make it right" cards stamped with "priority assistance" codes for fast-tracking help and handed them out to congressional staffers, journalists, and other influential Washingtonians who complained about their service. read more

I contact them a week later since no one has called me yet to confirm my appointment for Tuesday (I do the math and realize that because of the holiday weekend, this would be the last day they would call to confirm) and they LOST MY INFORMATION. i guess when i registered with them, my name, address, phone # and appointment date was sent somewhere out into computer land and is missing. they asked for my account # when i called and i never was even given one cause no one ever called. wow. read more

I will start with the positives...and then joyfully move on to the negatives.... POSITIVES 1. The customer service agent I spoke to upon my last call was extremely helpful and nice. 2. After dealing with some unpleasantries, I actually got a great deal (see #1).. 3. I've never had a problem with their internet - which is once reason I have stuck around. NEGATIVES 1. It was towards the end of my promotional period. I had internet and expanded cable service (movie channels, etc.) and was paying a decent price. A field agen called me up and offered what sounded to me like a good deal. In addition to keeping the service I had, he offered the phone service - and my prices would remain the same. After confirming several times what the final monthly total would be - taxes and fees (I wanted to be under, if not the same, as I had been paying) - I signed up for the year promotion. 2. The technician who hooked up the service (HD) was nice. However, the orders he had said nothing about movie channels - so I called the field sales rep to fix the problem. It was "fixed" - or so I thought - to my satisfaction. 3. When I got my first bill, it was almost $35 more than what I was told. It took several phone calls to the field sales agent and whole boatload of frustration - only to have the issue remain unresolved. 4. After waiting several days for a call back, I called Comcast to downgrade service since I was fed up. Nothing about the bill that is due in a few days has changed. I just wanted to change my service and be done with it. IN THE END... The woman I spoke to was really nice and went over my new services with me, total cost and all. I left the phone conversation soured from the events that transpired the previous month - but extremely satisfied with the outcome of the current call. If I could give no stars, I would (to reflect the experience prior to this call). I would rate this last call at 5 stars. Comcast cannot continue to monopolize the cable service in the city (non satellite, that is). When I switched locations and needed to exchange my boxes, it was in and out here without a problem. The people were robots but nice. I am just saying this location is OK for drop offs of old equipment and asking questions about new service. As far as Comcast itself.... Yes they suck but what are your choices around here for Internet? Just so everyone knows, Comcast has now scrambled pretty much all the channels except for the crappy ones and just a few good ones left. What I am is if you have a HD LCD tv, you used to be able to scan and pick up all the channels, and now you cannot pick up the quality channels at all. Fios is advertising that they are doing away with the 2 year contract in the Philly area. That is why I didn't sign on with them before. I didn't want to get locked down. So you can get Fios month to month like Comcast. It will all depend on if they will give me boxes for all the rooms or if I will have to pay for each box like Comcast. If they can make it so I can view all the channels in all the rooms and be just as cheap as Comcast per month I will switch for sure. read more

Internet constantly going out, TV is always pixilated. The worst customer service I've ever seen. You call to them your issues, they send someone out, and always seem to charge for a band-aid. I hate Comcast! I will be changing to another cable company ASAP. I've been receiving so many calls from a collection company because I changed my address and they can't afford a good system to track their customers. The way they work is you have to cancel your old contract, return all the equipment, go to your new address, wait for them for hours until they install the new equipment, then wait for them to fix all the problems with their new shitty equipment and then receive stupid calls from the collection company because they told you to keep the old router and they committed a mistake in their system. Long story short ... Comcast sucks. But here's the long story anyways. We're moving into a new apartment - so I've been trying to take care of things ahead of time. Secured great deals for internet and cable - better than their promotional double play rates (took about 10 hours on the phone though). I asked for a self-installation kit to be sent for 2 HD cable boxes / remotes (I have my own cable modem so they don't have to suck me dry with a monthly internet box fee). Asked the SIK to be sent to my current address prior to my move to the new address .... of course, it was sent to the new address (still haven't moved in yet FYI). Oh and icing on the cake? They sent a Skype webcam ... no HD box. I called ... they asked whether I was shipping the Skype webcam ... I said they could come pick it up, but I wasn't spending a dime to ship it back. Re-ordered 2 HD boxes / remote ... checked back a week later .... it was never 'processed' though they could see that it was ordered. WTF. I re-ordered the 2 HD boxes / remote ... took about 2 hours to explain to two different 'technicians' ... I'll be calling daily for a UPS tracking number and the status on this. The fact that Comcast is still in business SICKENS me... I've had a number of absolutely horrible experiences... however, I will tell you the worst one was this... Our box went out, didn't record all of our shows while we were on a weekend get away... Including the bachelor for the 3rd week in a row!!! Big fan over here angry after the first time.... Then tell us someone was going to show up between 10-2pm (basically all day)... NEVER CAME... My husband waited patiently until 5pm to even contact me because he knew I'd be completely irate... which I was... They have the nerve to tell me that they've been really busy and should be there around 6:30pm... so what do we do?? WAIT AGAIN.... Did anyone ever come?? NO!!!!!!!!!!! My wifi service goes out for a period of time daily and no one at comcast knows why. I find myself paying for a service that only works some of the time. Anyone on the phone and is virtually useless. Unplugging and replugging in a Router does not fix a problem in the area. Additionally, the price of my Internet fluctuates monthly. There is no transparency and this company and their billing practices. This is a big business that does not care about their customers in the slightest. read more

I had a terrible experience with Comcast overall. No need to go into detail, but go for Clear instead. Clear is $45/month, flat fee. Also, Comcast has weird prices for service. A few friends of mine pay $20/mo for basic internet, others $30/mo for the same thing, and others $60/mo for the same thing. The promotions make the deal very varied, and it's hard to get them at the wrong time. Anyway - Clear can be more expensive, but hopefully it will work out. As a follow-up, Comcast never refunded the money paid and never resolved this issue. Comcast continues to monopolize the television and internet provider space in Philadelphia (and most other areas), and doesn't care much for their customers.
