My daughter arrived for her appt at 9:40am - 9:45am appt. She had already submitted all of her information Sunday evening for the appt. So she shows up and has to refill out all of the paperwork she had done the night before. Insurance company doesn't offer paper cards anymore - its all on her phone. Tries to send her insurance card over to the front office staff via email - and they can't figure out how to open the email with the insurance card on it. For a 1/2 hour they try to open the email - all while discussing my daughter who is sitting right there. Finally takes her phone after 30 plus minutes and makes a copy of her phone on the printer. Then begins the process of verifying the insurance - which still wasn't done. Apparently billing has to verify insurance and that is what they were waiting on. I called the office 20 minutes after my daughter rescheduled and left and the insurance is still not verified. Helen I am assuming the office manager - is extremely rude. Told me they don't have time to verify patients before they get there. So your time is important but not patients. Got it. My daughter ended up leaving frustrated, appt rescheduled and in tears because the office staff cannot get their stuff together. Should not take a whole hour plus to get insurance verified. Funny I called the insurance company on the back of the card and verified that this office took her insurance. Which I had previously done before even scheduling the appt. Also - when I mentioned this to Helen she said they have to verify what is covered. I called the insurance company back and asked what was covered and the girl gave me the list of what is covered. The insurance card should have been verified on the previous Friday or at 8:30am - because the office staff should have all the information before the patient arrives. And if they don't they should call the previous business day and get every patient verified. They were discussing my daughter as a new patient when she has been coming there for years. Dr Leaphart St Cloud has been my daughters doctor for years - and I have absolutely loved her for my daughter - who is just walking into adult hood and learning to navigate all of this on her own, but this office staff makes it so frustrating to deal with. Helen told me to call back later today and verify that my daughters insurance has been verified, because she is too busy to deal with me. Not that the office will probably even care or see this - but this is what's wrong with medicine now days. Also, funny how their name tags were flipped around so they couldn't be read.
