Set my service to cancel before my move out date at the end of the month. A month later I get another bill. I call to explain I canceled my service using the app online and they said it never went through. The told me without a confirmation email there's nothing they can do. I looked and don't have one. They won't remove the other bill off my file and is forcing me to pay it when I canceled the service on their app and it's not my fault there's some glitch that told me it went through but actually didn't and I can prove I moved out of my apartment so why would I keep service? Worst ever "customer service." I get promised actions that never come to pass. They can't even handle a simple disconnect. Now I'm getting two bills a month for a previous address and my new address. They tell me I have to wait 30 - 60 days for the issue to get resolved. They are "busy," I'm told. (I guess I'm not. I love calling them and waisting an hour of more of my time.) And in the meantime, the errors mount up making it even more difficult to know where you stand. I was told at the onset to ignore the bill for my old place and it will be sent to the new tenants. It wasn't; I'm still being billed for it. In good faith I made a payment and was assured it would be applied to my current address. It wasn't; it was credited to the old address. Today I was promised a supervisor of "customer service" would call me in 2 to 4 hours. No one called. Four months now, and I'm still fighting them. I am livid at Xcel Energy right now. About two months ago, I asked them to switch Dainna's solar panels into my name. I signed up online and....well gee, they said, you signed up as a "new customer," but you just need to transfer the panels to get the monthly credit ($$) Fast forward to today. It really sucks having a single utility provider that gives two you no what about their customers. We are in a suburban area and have constant power outages and what feels like tons of maintenance as well that keeps a bunch of people with out power for 8+ hours. We moved in about 1.5 ago and about half of the neighbors have whole home generators due to the terrible reliability of the service. We're planning to get one as well because I've never in my nearly 40 years of existence had this many instances of losing power for so long and so often. read more

Received an email that my account was in "bad standing" and that I'd only be allowed to pay with credit card from now on because of insufficient funds in my account used for payments. However, they also had a refund for me because not only did my auto pay (from my so called insufficient funded bank account) go through, but somehow a monthly payment was processed as well. When I asked how I was supposed to fix this I was told it was my fault and there's no solution. I now have to pay with a credit card, which ads a $3 fee each time, for a year and I'm sure this will affect my credit score. I moved to Fargo ND two years ago with my wife, that last year I filed for separation against. Xcel energy is the electric company that the reality chose for the building electric that tenants have to pay. I was told initially that the electric bill is based on "recorded data from city wide charts based on total electric use of each apartment" and the "most we charge is 125.00 as it's company policy to not charge a flat rate fee". After filing for separation from my wife, being left with all the bills, and barely using any electricity, as I live alone, my bill went from 120 up to 450.00 in just 6 months. I had to get assistance from energy assistance to keep my electric on because I have asthma and diabetes. Xcel energy jacked my bill up to 500 dollars after energy assistance started helping me because they knew that no matter what my bill was energy assistance would help me pay it. They started farming energy assistance. After Colorado state called Xcel energy out and dropped their contracts because anyone with any intelligence can tell their as crooked as a meth heads teeth, and bragging about how they made their stock holders billions by jacking up customers bills and then saying boldly in a press release that we the customers " should be thanking them" following that gregious remark with a second one stating" because they are saving us money in the long run" . It's obvious that companies like Xcel Energy does not care who they rip off, and harm, so long as they can profit from people's sufferage. They are just as evil as Donald Trump, Nipolian Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler and child protective services which is nothing more than legalized child human slavery and trafficking. The fact that the entire state of Colorado just blatantly called Xcel energy out as corrupt and dropped over a billion dollars worth of contracts with them for better healthier contracts just shows how bad they really are. No one would just drop billion dollar contracts unless it was that bad, but they did. That speaks leagues to the corrupt nature of Xcel energy. Hoping to change this review to more than 1 star however with lack of communication from xcel, I feel like I have no choice but to warn others what type of company this is. My house is currently undergoing construction and amid a 30 degree day in the pandemic, it seems like an xcel employee noticed our construction and took it upon himself to remove our gas meter without notice. Our contractors failed in any attempt to get answers from the man removing our heat in the middle of the winter. When I called, I was met with more confusion from customer service about how I, the homeowner was not even notified after the meter was taken. I called XCEL Energy today to discuss a bill. The first XCEL rep put me on hold, then, after waiting ten minutes, my call was disconnected. I called again and talked to someone who called herself Carla, but she would not identify herself further, such as with an employee number or the first initial of her last name. I asked to talk to a manager. I was told it might take a day or two before someone got back to me. There is no way I know of to reach XCEL via e-mail. XCEL is a very unprofessional company! As they have a monopoly on providing energy in the Denver, Colorado area, there is not alternative company to contact for utility service. If you are trying to go Solar in Colorado beware of Xcel Energy. You can install a 40,000 system and just have it sitting on your roof. They are soo backlogged in applications that you wait months for them to give you permission to operate and install a bidirectional meter. Your solar company will say they can't do anything about it. Go to Xcel to check on the status and they have a "hotline" that no one answers. I am going to complain to the Public Utilities Commission. Plus my family has owned this home all my life and has never had to pay a $500 deposit. They claim to give the deposit back if you have good payment all year. I was asking for assistance in regards to taking it off a cash only account to make payments using my checking account. We used Xcel energy when we lived in Denver. When we left we cancelled online as they ask you to and settled up our bill. Almost 2 months later we continue to receive billing statements saying we owe them money and then we have to call and sit on hold for 15-20 minutes just to have the same conversation with a different rep over and over. Their billing department is backed up and it will take 2-3 months for us to stop receiving billing statements and get a check issued to us for overpayment. Their reps are friendly and nice but the company can't get it together to correct a simple move out service cancellation. I would not use this company again. read more

We signed up for service online on 6/1/22. Received an email on 6/1/22 stating they received our request and nothing else was needed on my part. On 6/23/22, we walked into the house and low and behold, no power. Called customer service and they said i wasn't in their system. Customer service mentioned it would take 1 business day to turn the power back on. So, now i'm out of the groceries in the refrigerator and we had to spend the night in a hotel. Called this morning (6/24/22) and they haven't turned it on yet. Customer service mentioned they have issues due to Covid. Sorry, that was 2020 and first quarter of 2021. Piss poor excuse. This business model is a joke. How do we get reimbursed for the hotel and groceries that are lost?
