They are constantly updating the menu and fit in with the latest sushi trends (crispy rice) and have such a variety on the menu. Their sushi is as fresh as it gets, you can really taste the quality in the fish. It ALWAYS tastes fresh no matter when I go, I have never had a problem with Xaga. First time here at Xaga tonight. Easy to miss, but really a gem in the area. The menu was pretty impressive so there's easily plenty to choose from. The host promptly seated my group of three and the decor was better than I expected. I can't speak on many of the drinks but we did order a Scorpion Bowl and the presentation was enough to make me come back. The food was prompt and delicious. Overall good experience. My only con though: The waitress completely disregarded one person's drink order the first time around. She seemed to be rushing us and then even handed us the bill barely halfway through the meal. I get the business is closing soon for the night, but as a server (or even a business), ending on a good note is crucial with your guests. We didn't plan on sticking around all night, but we wanted to at least enjoy the rest of our food without feeling like we have no option but to box up the rest or stuff it down our throats. Would have been 4 stars if not for that. Also, the music didn't seem to fit the atmosphere. Not a deal-breaker... But it just threw me off a bit. read more

I am a sushi lover, but I recently lost all hope in enjoying sushi when I went from being a pescatarian, to a complete vegetarian. Today, the hubs and I decided to give this place a shot, as they appeared to have a very significant vegetarian section. We couldn't have been happier! The service was outstanding--including the comfort and reliability they gave us in assuring us that our meals were "seafood" free (seafood allergy). I know it's a bit ridiculous to ask at a sushi restaurant, but they didn't for a second make it seem like an issue, and even went through the menu to explain which ingredients were cross-contaminated. The allergy was even typed on the bill! Aside from that, the vibe of the place was very relaxing; the waitresses were very friendly, and gave top notch service; and all of the food was delicious. My wife and I took my cousin and her husband to Xaga. They didn't disappointed us! When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the manager. We were seated immediately and the menu is very impressive. We ended up ordering 3 appetizers, 3 special rolls and from the kitchen Chilean sea bass with black bean sauce & Ginger duck. Appetizers we got the black pepper tuna tataki, spicy tuna cracker & tuna flower, the ingredients and flavors are unlike any other sushi place I've been to! My wife & I have been to many sushi places and Xaga is always "the best". All of the rolls ( Soho roll, Naruto roll, rainbow roll ) and from the kitchen we ordered were excellent. The sushi at this place is really good and fresh. I liked how clean the restaurant was and everyone who worked there (a lot of staff) was extremely nice and accommodating. It's bigger than it looks from the outside and even though there are a lot of tables, it has an open and modern feel. Service was quick and plates were cleanly presented. Tables cleared promptly, drinks refilled, total attention to the customer. Overall I liked the food a lot and I'm picky about sushi. I don't think I'd get the shumai again. They tasted okay, but were really burning hot inside and a little cold outside. My salmon roll was top notch. The nori they use here is a little on the firm side, so if you like to eat your maki in two bites, you're a little out of luck. Maybe it's just me :) Definitely recommend the saba. All in all a really nice experience and I'll be back. Only downside is some of the clientele. I don't get people who are brash and rude to the service staff. "Get me some sauce." Really? Also, couple #2, I shouldn't be able to hear you chewing from across the room in a crowded restaurant, ffs. And then there was the girl who sneezed on the pass on her way to the bathroom. Food is passable but the one lady at the cash register (not sure if she a manager or owner) is very rude and argumentative. She tried to refuse the first online order discount saying she had me on record as having already used it. Uh no. How would I have already used it if I had never been to the restaurant before? She was so nasty and combative implying that I was a liar. Stupid witch. I subsequently went there 2 more times to dine in with friends and the food was ok but not remarkable. Nothing to write home about. And it's lame how they don't open until 1 pm for lunch. C'mon now. Most places open by 11:30 but at 12 latest. What the heck is 1 pm?! I have been eating here since it opened but will no longer. Several weeks ago we ordered take out and when we sat down to eat we found human hair in our soup after we started to eat it. We called manager and she said we will credit soup. Well this never happened. She should have comped the entire meal. The manger lied about credit and sounded like she did not believe us. I'm in town for 5 days and have ordered from here 3 times during my stay as they are in close proximity to my families house. I have never been so insulted and disappointed by a restaurant before. The first order was fine, but was I glad though that we were not dining in as they were blasting obnoxious pop hits in the bar There was no where to sit to wait for our food and we were not offered water for our long wait. The second night I learned to stay away from the shrimp tempura roll as there was nothing in it but rice and shrimp tempura. The Miso soup had a weird alcohol flavor to it. Their house salad is just lettuce and dressing. Tonight was the kicker though. I ordered my now usual salmon and masago sashimi. This has been consistently good. Fresh, not fishy, delightful. However I also ordered the chicken teriyaki for my daughter. This was NOT chicken teriyaki, It simply was not. It was chicken and garlic sauce and they forgot my salad. I had my mother return and they tried to convince her by showing her another order that it was chicken teriyaki. This muddled clear garlic sauce with snap peas and broccoli could not pass for teriyaki to even a first time Japanese diner. Then I was subtly accused of lying about missing my measly pathetic salad. I do not know where all these stars come from but beware. They did not offer anything for the inconvience of having to return and threw out the returned dish in front of my mother, they simply could have sent her home with it as a minimal consolation for the poor service as a THIRD time customer in 3 days. They told her "well she didn't pay for it." We had the pad thai instead. Well what was supposed to be pad thai. Ambiance is nothing special- tables are relatively close to one another to maximize seating capacity, but, as a result, you can hear other people's conversations nearby. All the sushi was very good and fresh tasting, the best of them being the salmon belly, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The chicken lettuce cups were not particularly interesting flavorwise, but were at least easy to eat - the lettuce was nice and firm, and the chicken was not too wet. I thought the duck rolls - which were similar to egg rolls in style - were the best. These were served super hot, crispy, and had a great balance between the duck and the other ingredients in the filling. This place is terrible. I came here for dinner the other day because I heard I.T was good and was cheap. I ordered a Kani salad (tasted like blander cardboard) and two rolls (tuna and spicy tuna). The rolls were veryyyy mediocre quality. The tuna roll was fishy, while the spicy tuna roll was alright but anything would taste good after the first roll. Then when I got my check I.T was almost 40$ (she included tip) for just that and when I said I.T was wrong the waiter pointed out that the tip was included. Then when my friend asked about the check too the waitress said "you ate all the food maybe u should lose some weight".
