Street tacos - 2 asada, 1 carnitas, 1 grilled chicken
    Claudia S.

Went to this tiny Mexican place and it was delicious! Nothing bad to say, just didn't woo me away. Love that the street tacos are double tortilla-ed and come with beans & rice. You can mix and match protein choices. I think I'd pass on queso next time and try the guac instead. Margs were great! Pricing here is fair! SALSA WAS MY FAVORITE FOR SURE! Lots of flavor and mild kick

The food was authentic. The waiter was welcoming and they offer a wide variety of food. The combo platters are perfect because you can mix and match and try different items you haven't had before.

Went here for dinner with a friend tonight and it was delicious! I got the street tacos, which comes with 4, and I got different meats for each one. My favorites were the asada and grilled chicken. The place is small but has plenty of tables. There was one server but he was great! Will definitely come back.

This is a small local place that I will definitely be coming back to. The staff here is so sweets and kind they're very attentive! I definitely recommend the gorditas I loved them they had amazing flavors and he even brought be all there salsas to try. The avocado salsa was amazing definitely ask for that on the side!!! Also who doesn't love chips and salsa!!! I have only good things to say!

This was such a cute spot! The portion sizes were decent, I definitely want to go back and try the tamales (my friend tried them)

The best Mexican food I've probably ever had! We just happen to live in the same neighborhood as their food truck and finally gave the actual restaurant a try. We were blown away by the hospitality and amazed by how delicious the food was; we had drinks, entrees, and dessert, and still wanted more! I had the owner make some suggestions and ordered whatever he chose for me. Loved every bite and can't wait to come back for more.

After reading all the reviews we couldn't wait to try this place. Maybe it was built up a bit much or maybe I'm just not a fan of authentic food? We had the beef tacos, picadita's, Gordita, and quesabirria and none of them had much flavor at all. The place is super clean and staff was friendly. I gave them three stars because the skinny margarita and guacamole were both exceptional. I'd come back for chips and drinks but skip dinner.

Their food truck and restaurant are both great! Great meat options and flavorful not overly salty and the price is just right!!

I like the uniqueness of the food! It's fresh and delicious and unlike any other Mexican food I've had in Lee Summit or surrounding area. It's a simple atmosphere, so don't feel like you have to dress up. The margarita was very fresh, and I loved that there was no aftertaste like some margaritas that I've had. Our waiter, Johnny, made us feel very welcome. Definitely will be going back there again!

As transplants from another state, and BBQ not being our first language, we wanted to try new things! They came to the table and we were all sort of perplexed. Were they supposed to look like...that? Either way, we dug in. They were cold in the middle, also a strange discovery to us. I ordered the burnt ends, which came to the table closer to cold than warm. The blue cheese potato salad was tasty and all it needed was a lil salt and pepper to make it perfect. All was going well, until my husband was about 4-5 bites into his brisket wrap. He asked me to smell it, and I did. It was funky! Smelled a lot like a foot and not a lot like a tortilla. He asked the server to smell it and they agreed it was a bit odd. The manager came over and denied it smelling like anything. My husband had finished his meal, and we weren't looking for a freebie but wanted to let them know it was a lil weird. Instead of acknowledging the potential issue, we were dismissed as "wrong." It just didn't sit right with me. My husband had some definite issues in the hour or two after eating, so we won't be back. I won't say it was food poisoning because genuinely it could have just not agreed with my husband. I'll put my disclaimer on here, I hope people do enjoy and continue to patronize this small business, it's just not to my liking.

We decided to have a quick early dinner here in town, and did a Yelp search for "great places to eat near me". This place was high in the list. We read the reviews and found ourselves driving around a building that had ZERO markings for the Burn Theory Fire Kitchen on it, but our Maps app said we were here. Turned out, the food for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen was cooked in a food truck in a parking lot and served inside the Diametric Brewing Company which is located at the address listed for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen. I will say, my husband ordered a special beer called "Cherry Street Wheat" and it was very unusual, and seriously tasty!!! I'm not a beer fan, but would drink one of these any day! So, getting back to the food... we'd both ordered a trio of street tacos that we did a mix and match of with their various proteins. We ordered this way to share with each other. We also love to discover new and unusual bites. After reading the reviews and their menu, we were excited for the promise of something uniquely delicious... and were completely disappointed!!! All but one (excluding the shrimp) of the six different tacos we'd ordered, bordered on the inedible side. The proteins were seemingly overcooked, folded into little leathery tortilla shells, and served to our table cold, dry and tough. They tasted as if they had been reheated from the weekends leftovers. Maybe we came on the wrong day. Perhaps if we'd visited on a weekend, or on the same day they were actually cooking the meats initially, we'd had a better experience. I don't know, and frankly do not plan to find out. Additionally, to be fair, their condiments (ie: the Ketchup and BBQ sauce) seemed to be made fresh and made from scratch. They were sadly the best part of our meal. Honorable mention to the Diametric Brewing Company which served us one of the most delicious and unique beers we've ever tasted!

They bring it straight to you when it's done. The guy who brought ours was super nice. He asked if we needed any utensils or sauce. I was just having a beer and then was taking my grub to go so he brought me a bag to carry everything easily. I ordered the Burn Theory Cubano: House smoked ham and pulled pork, melted Swiss cheese, pickles and house made mustard on toasted brioche. This sandwich was huge! It's very shareable if you're ordering sides. The meat was super smoky and I loved the flavor. It's definitely a top 5 Cuban in KC. We ordered several sides: seasoned fries, smoked Mac and cheese, and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was good sized and easily shareable as a starter. I liked the house made dressing. If you wanted to have this as an entree, you have the option to add brisket, chicken, or shrimp. I will definitely consider it in the future. The seasoned fries were pretty standard. My boyfriend liked the seasoning and that they didn't put too much on them. My 3 doggos also enjoyed a few. The smoked Mac and cheese was probably my favorite side and I'll have a hard time getting a different one in the future. The Smokey flavor was perfect and not overwhelming. The pasta wasn't overcooked and the sauce was creamy. I end up at Strange Days pretty often and I feel like this is a perfect addition to the area. I'll definitely be ordering from them in the future while I enjoy a beer.
