After we were seated, I took a look around the place, and was overall impressed by the decor since it's clear they thought out the story associated with jazz history. The menu was also well designed and easy to navigate, but that's something I notice as a marketing designer. Since there were four in our party, we decided to share an app (the brisket tacos), split the two-meat platter (ribs & brisket), and add a half pound of the burnt ends. We were able to get drinks and the app in, but our server kinda forgot about us, so we had one of our party go to the counter to get the rest in. A bit odd, but I suppose the place was busy. When the tacos arrived, they weren't hot, but tasted good, so we didn't mind as we were hungry. However, when the burnt ends came out (sorry, I didn't photo those) they were kinda pale and fatty. I'm not from around these parts, but if "burnt" is in the name I'd expect some level of charred bark, and these lacked it. We didn't touch them and they were sent back. The meat plate's arrival helped smooth things over as the ribs were great and the feta mac and garlic cheesy corn were, too. The brisket wasn't an easy one to cut, as I was being cognizant and considerate of others in regards to sharing. I thought it would be a little more tender. We did get a new order of burnt ends sent out from the kitchen, which was nice, as it wasn't expected. I think my partner's dad wanted to end things on a high note by ordering dessert, so we got the smoked cheesecake. At the time, the board said the daily special was the pumpkin spice cheesecake. There was nothing pumpkin nor spice about this. A pale, sad facsimile of a cheesecake. Unfortunately, it fell flat literally and figuratively. The presentation wasn't what everyone's idea of a cheesecake is, aka the standard triangular slice, and that's okay, but this was a lopsided rectangle. The texture of the cheesecake was amiss- not enough sugar perhaps and no hint of citrus. I understand it's easier to bake in bulk in sheet pans, but the crust wasn't evenly distributed and severely lacked butter to keep it all together. My partner said it looked like sand. If you can't execute a classic dessert, then reconsider having it on the menu. What saved this experience was the two-meat platter, because otherwise, that was the worst cheesecake I've had. Plus, it took us a while to get the food. It seems like there are several people who have had great experiences here, so you can come find out for yourself. Maybe we came on an off night.

At first, I went to the wrong side of the truck because I didn't see anyone. I could hear people in the back, so I went around and asked, "Hey, did you guys close early or something?" The employee responded, "We didn't close early. We close at 7," and the way it was said came across as very rude and dismissive. I explained that the website showed they were open until 7:30 PM. He told me it didn't. I even asked if there was anything I could purchase since I had driven 30 minutes based on the hours posted online, and I was told no. I completely understand that employees have a closing time and that schedules can change. My issue is that the hours posted online said 7:30 PM, and I arrived before that time. I also have a photo of the truck timestamped at 7:12 PM, so I was clearly there before the posted closing time. I would have been much more understanding if someone had simply said, "Sorry, our actual closing time is 7 PM and the website hasn't been updated," or even apologized for the confusion. Instead, I felt like I was being treated as though I was at fault for following the hours provided by the business. Unfortunately, I left without getting to try the food, and the interaction left a really bad first impression. I hope the hours are corrected so other customers don't drive out there expecting to be served, only to find out the truck has already closed.

The individuals working the truck were nice but they were a bit unorganized-the iPad for payment was off, I was unable to get a receipt, I wasn't able to scan my app to get points, and I just had to guess/stand around for my food because they didn't seem to have a way to notify me that my order was up. I wasn't able quote five minutes and it was close to that amount of time. I like the lobster grilled cheese paired with the lobster bisque. The grilled cheese isn't huge but it is filling and they put a good amount of lobster in it. The bisque wasn't as good as I remembered it, it used to be richer and it seemed a little thinner than it was in the past. But it was still good with chunks of lobster. I've also had the lobster rolls and they are a little on the small side. They have a new lobster roll flight where you get to the all three varieties. And honestly, that's the way to go. You'll get the most bang for your buck and way more lobster than by getting just one. Overall, it's good and I like to visit them every now and then. They are on the pricey side for a food truck but it's lobster and we live in the landlocked Midwest so it is what it is. If you're wanting something different and feel like some lobster, definitely check them out.
