The restaurant had the feel of rustic but with the modern touch of high ceilings with the ductwork exposed. Our waitress was so nice, and the food we ordered was really good, all freshly made to order. My husband loved the beef medallions. The beer-battered onion rings and french fries were wonderful. We liked the place so much we opted to go there for breakfast the next morning. After a week of hotel breakfasts we were ready for real food. The eggs Benedict was perfect as were the hash browns. My husband's chicken fried steak was wonderful as well. Hat's off to the chef! If we lived here we would be coming back!

However, my drink (tea) took around ten minutes to be served. I think they had to brew more. My husband and I both ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. He had wheat toast and I had an English muffin. Our friend ordered pancakes. The chicken fried steak was tiny, and upon closer inspection, was clearly one chicken fried steak cut in half. The English muffin was served cold and not even cut in half on a warm plate. The pancakes looked like bricks. One of my husband's eggs was broken and cooked hard. The food tasted good, just not up to quality restaurant standards in my opinion.

We opted to sit in the restaurant, since there was no one else in there. While we were there, several people came in and went back to the bar. We wondered if we should have sat in there instead since it was favored by the locals. We ordered appetizer to share between the two of us, and I ordered a cup of their chicken rice soup of the day. The soup was the star of my meal. I wish I'd gotten a bowl instead, since it had good flavor, and hit the spot. The appetizer, on the other hand, was underwhelming. I tried the deep fried mushrooms, cheese sticks, and buffalo chicken strips. The mushrooms were the best of this grouping. The cheese sticks had a funky, freezer-burnt flavor that I didn't care for. The buffalo sauce was way too spicy for my palate and the chicken strips were doused in it, so I couldn't even scrape it off to eat the chicken. My husband said the jalapeno poppers were pretty flavorless. I'm not sure how much longer this restaurant will be able to survive with little to no patrons, and lack luster food. I'm not planning to return.

It was, I guess, busy for Saratoga since there aren't many places to get coffee in this town. I had…read moregone to the hardware store and they recommended this place. Supposed to be fabulous coffee. So since beggars can't be choosers, I went. You walk in, it's not laid out very well. It's tiny, but it had some small town charm. I walked to the order desk to be met by a very surly woman who doesn't greet you, doesn't smile, looks like she really wants to be somewhere else. I place my order, give her a tip and go and wait at pickup. I go over to the pickup area, and I wait. The person making the coffee put a drink out with a receipt, but didn't call out a name so I went over to read the receipt which says "server:" and the person's name. I don't know why they're calling the customer "server" but whatever. So I go back to wait, she calls my name. I go over and take the drink that she said was mine. I leave. I'm on the road. I start to drink my drink and it tastes like tepid milk. I take the top off. It's a cappuccino. Just one problem: I didn't order a cappuccino and if I had, I would've been really disappointed in this one because it was super weak. I don't even think a double shot would've helped. I make better cappuccinos at home. It's not even remotely hot. And there's barely a hint of coffee flavor. If this is what Saratoga considers great coffee they need to get out a little more.

The woman taking our order was delightful -- and did a great job explaining the offerings. It has a terrifically interesting menu, so it wasn't easy. My husband and I decided to 1) begin with a lemon poppyseed scone that the lovely server told us were made that morning; and then 2) chose one savory item from the menu and one sweet -- to then share it all. So glad we did all of the above. I chose the the hash brown omelette, topped with eggs over medium; spouse chose the strawberry brioche french toast. Oh my goodness!!! This was fine dining restaurant quality. Every bite was beyond our wildest expectations. I'd be there every day if it was any closer!!! Can't wait to get back here ASAP.
